I got to see the first two episodes and this season has a pretty strong start. Jolyne is a likable character and her horndog characterization is interesting in a world of demure, chaste shonen females. Being on Netflix rather than Adult Swim allows for the first F bomb in JoJo dub history. Shows how silly Adult Swim is in being okay with the show's graphic violence but F bombs are no-nos. I don't think anybody guessed the ending song. Character designs were strange in this one as this is the first part where people have elf ears or non traditional human bodies. I guess Araki's art gets more bizarre when he drew this part.

As I recall there were some pretty big revelations about the true nature of the Stand Arrow at the end of Golden Wind - I'm gonna have to refresh myself on the last few episodes of that in case those details factor into this season. But once I do, yeah I'm gonna be all over this. I don't like those CG intros, especially compared to the awesomeness of Great Days and Traitor's Requiem. Hopefully the second half intro will be more like those.

You are in the minority, the majority of the fanbase actually prefers the CG intros, and they are happy to see them return.

Show me your numbers. No sane person would prefer anything over Great Days.

Well first off, you are the only person I've seen say they don't like the return of the CGI intros. Now you show me your numbers as a counter.

EDIT: went on Reddit, all the people disappointed by the return of the CG intros get downvoted into oblivion.

Finished the first cour and it was a wild ride, making all the other JoJo seasons seem tame in comparison. This is the most female dominant main cast of a shonen series I've ever seen and Ermes and FF are cool characters. The main casts' stands are some of the most outlandish and creative ever. The villains of the week seem less interesting than previous parts, but the main villain has some promise. JoJo continues to be one of the better shonen out there even if it has the huge shoes of the previous seasons to fill (though part 5's final battle disappointed). Cour one was fun. I guess next month we get the next cour?

Looks like it didn't crack the US top 10, but worldwide and Japan are noteworthy accomplishments. I think anime has cracked the top 10 on US Netflix before. I'm trying to remember which show or shows have done it, but I think Demon Slayer might have. Live action Bebop is still on the US charts at number 9, for better or worse.

Wait but it did though. It was in the top 10 on Netflix last week. It was at number 6.

This site lists School of Chocolate as number 6 in the US, am I looking at the wrong thing?

Yes you are wrong. Look at the official Netflix app to find out. But like I said it was at Number 6 LAST WEEK. This week is different because the hype has died down a bit.

That top ten list I linked above shows the week of November 29-December 5, which is last week. When I fire up the app, I see the top 10 for a day or two, but not over a single week. Maybe it was in the top 10 for a day or two, but didn't do enough to make the weekly top 10. Anyway the top ten provided by the Netflix site shows no JoJo for that week. For the week of November 29-December 5:

1 True Story: Limited Series

2 Lost in Space: Season 3

3 The Queen of Flow: Season 2

4 Money Heist: Part 5

5 Selling Sunset: Season 4

6 School of Chocolate: Season 1

7 CoComelon: Season 4

8 Lost in Space: Season 1

9 Cowboy Bebop: Season 1

10 Maid: Limited Series

Huh that’s weird because I saw it on the weekly top 10 last week. Even the official JoJo account mentioned it as well.

That's the daily chart, not the weekly chart, which either totals or averages the watch time over seven days. Well, we got confirmation it charted for a day, but I guess it didn't have enough staying power for the whole week.

JoJo's doing well the second week on the chart in Japan, being at number #3 for the week of December 6-12. One Piece was #1, Demon Slayer was #4, and Promised Neverland season 2 was #8. Wow anime dominates the Japanese Netflix charts.

In the US, It looks like anime might make a chart for a day or two, but I guess it can't chart enough days to make a weekly chart. For the week of December 6-12, positions #6-8 were composed of CoComelon seasons and #10 was Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous.

Even if it charted just for a single day in the US and hasn't made a weekly chart, it's still doing really well in Japan and probably will stay on the charts a few more weeks.

I finally got around to watching Stone Ocean's first cour and wow, I really loved how creative the stands were this time around. And an interesting cast of protagonists this time around. And well, about damn time there was a female lead and amusingly enough, Jotaro's daughter. Kind of full circle moment as I recall Jotaro was in a jail cell in his debut appearance and here in Stone Ocean he was lured to a prison by the big bad only to lose his stand and memories. Was put off by all the F-bombs and well...some cringeworthy stuff in the first episode like that opening scene about what Jolyne was caught doing... or the strip search scene. But sill not too shocked Jotaro was an absentee dad or that Jolyne inherited his heroic nature.

Ha, and Jotaro kept a piece of one of the Arrows as a just in case. But it was also a nice touch that some of the stand users in Green Dolphin are natural borns like Weather Report. Ermes' duplicating stand, the bipolar chick's shrinking, and probably one of the most creative animal stand users in the whole series: F.F. Dug the contrast of the first Dio follower being a blind sniper but then some were so outlandish like the suicidal prisoner/janitor whose stand could transfer the method of death or the high thrill stakes with the gambling stand user, lmao, over a game of catch. Loved the twist that Savage Guardian was just a messenger pigeon. At least they got that small victory for the first cour and with his stand, Jotaro's body should stabilize.

But...but oh brother, 2 more Dio followers still around some 20 years later. His hand is all over this series even after his destruction. I don't like the sound of "instructions on getting to Heaven" that Father Pucci is after. I'm guessing he would need certain stands to pull it off and what are the odds he stole the right ones? What the--he somehow has a bone of Dio's body? Didn't his body totally disintegrated? I guess he removed it from Jonathan's body and gave it to Pucci around the time of the flashback seen in episode 12. Hmm, but if he's trying to resurrect Dio or use Whitesnake to revive the bone and extract his stand that's big trouble.

Overall, a very entertaining first half and thus, went by so quickly. EDIT: Forgot, there's also still whatever's up with the pink haired guy that bailed on them in the ghost room.

Can't be a coincidence that barring any breaks, the airing of the first 12 in Japan will end on March 26. Wonder if Netflix is planning to drop the second cour right after like on March 30.

Part 2, episodes 13-24 are now live on Netflix.

13. Smack of Love and Revenge Part 1
Realizing she hasn't seen Ermes for a few days, a curious Jolyne looks into her past and discovers that she came to the prison for a certain purpose.

14. Smack of Love and Revenge Part 2
F.F. and Jolyne try to assist Ermes in her fight against Sports Maximum, but they struggle against his Stand's ability to control the dead.

15. Ultra Security House Unit
In a bid to find the bone, Jolyne intentionally gets sent to the Ultra Security House Unit. Hoping to save her, F.F. turns to Anastasia for help.

16. The Secret of Guard Westwood
The Stand Survivor sparks brawls throughout the Disciplinary Wing. While fighting off a prison guard, Jolyne realizes that he is also a Stand User.

17. Enter the Drake's Dream
A victorious Jolyne looks out over the remaining prisoners. An old man approaches her and reveals he is a Stand User who has been sent by Pale Snake.

18. Enter the F.F.
Jolyne notices that F.F. is becoming dangerously dehydrated in the fight against Kenzou and pleads with Anastasia to step in and help, but he refuses.

19. Birth of the "Green"
After Jolyne and her companions catch up to the man who has the bone, they notice strange plant growths emerging from the nearby fallen prisoners.

20. F.F. - The Witness
In a boat piloted by the obedient YA-YA MA, Jolyne and Anastasia flee through the wetlands. However, YA-YA MA attacks them with an invisible ability.

21. AWAKEN
After realizing the connection between Father Pucchi and Pale Snake, F.F. defeats D an' G. As YA-YA MA disintegrates, the egg it swallowed hatches.

22. Time for Heaven! New Moon! New Priest!

Weather Forecast summons some rain, which saves F.F. from the brink of destruction. They reunite with Jolyne and Anastasia, but the group gets attacked.

23. Lock of the Jail!

Jolyne resolves to escape Green Dolphin Island and put a stop to Father Pucchi's ambitions. A prison guard brings her a message from Pale Snake.

24. Jailbreak...
Guided by the words on her hand, Jolyne fights her fading memories, evades the prison guards and reaches the hidden room — just as Mew Mew planned.

RIP F.F., she really was the MVP of this cour. Really touching and a tearjerker; trying to understand the deal she made with Anastasia, the fight with Kenzoku, trying to outwith Pucci and Palesnake, realization about what living meant, saving the disc just barely in time, she got to say goodbye to Jolyne before her soul left.

They continue to intro some oddball stands from the horror aspect of Sports Maxium's yet gave some needed focus on Ermes, Westwood's stand bringing meteors down, Gucci's stand making everyone into berserker fights, Kenzoku using feng shui and luck, the long range stand using acid and pretending to be super helpful.

That was one nutty but creative ritual. Sports Maximum to resurrect the bone, let it go off and decide, then feeding on 36 wicked souls, turning them into trees and a clone of Jonathan/Dio/The World as a tiny gremlin is born that can shrink people into oblivion but triggered with 14 words it bonds to you. Then wait until a new moon. Damn, seems like Pucci now has a highly evolved version of The World and can accelerate time on whatever he touches. I wonder if he can even control the timeline and use it to alter things to create the "heaven" Dio spoke of in the flashbacks. Another big bad with the power to mess with time, oi.

The only thing I really disliked was the last 2 episodes killing the pacing with a Groundhog Day stand screwing with memory and sticking everyone in a loop.

So 6 days until oblivion. So they gotta escape and find Pucci and hopefully get the disc back to Jotaro in time for him to help since Star Platinum just might be able to counter Pucci's new stand.
