DIO
Voiced by: Patrick Seitz
Namesake: DIO (Band)
Stand: ???
In the early 1880’s, a lower-class orphan by the name of Dio Brando was taken in by the upper-class Joestar family. With resentment for those of higher social status than him, Dio spent the next 7 years planning to take out the heir to the Joestar family, Jonathan Joestar, and claim its fortune. However, caught at a critical time in his plan, Dio used an ancient artifact the Joestars owned to become a vampire and began a new plot for world domination. Jonathan, along his friends, fought back against Dio, ending in a confrontation on a ship in the middle of the Atlantic which cost Jonathan’s life and sent Dio to a supposed watery grave. However, nearly a hundred years later, he was recovered by an unsuspecting group of treasure hunters, and given life anew in the modern age! Having gained possession of a mysterious Stand ability, the being now known simply as “DIO” wraps his insidious grasp around the world through agents also possessing Stands, in the resurrection of his plot to end the Joestar bloodline and dominate humanity! Jonathan’s body has manifested a Stand similar to Joseph’s Hermit Purple which allows DIO to monitor the Stardust Crusaders, but DIO’s own Stand is something more mysterious and far more terrifying.

Episode 6 (32)
“Dark Blue Moon"
Chapters adapted: 127-130

Previously on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure:
After a demonstration of his powers in the restaurant, the Frenchman introduced himself as Jean Pierre Polnareff, and the fight with Avdol was taken outside to the nearby Tiger Balm Garden. The two did battle, but Avdol outsmarted Polnareff, causing the Frenchman to be engulfed in flames. Defeated, Polnareff chivalrously accepts his fate, at which point Avdol extinguished the fire. It was revealed at this point that he was being controlled by a fleshbud like Kakyoin had, which Star Platinum promptly removed.

At the docks, Polnareff reintroduced himself and told a story about his sister, who had been raped and murdered years earlier by a Stand user with two right hands. Believing that the Stand user he’s been looking for has become a servant of DIO, Polnareff joined the Stardust Crusaders to find the man with two right hands and put an end to DIO.

Now:
The Crusaders board a ship headed for Singapore when a stowaway is discovered, along with a crew member who isn’t who they claim to be.

In which Jotaro punches a shark.

Who is ready for some good old fashioned muskrat lovin' tonight?

Last time: Ohhhhhhhh, Tiger BOMB Garden.

Previously on JJBA: Polnareff fell into a burnin' ring of fire. And then he joined Jojo's team.

So the recap is a highlight reel of the last several episodes.

Just like how Yusuke and Kuwabara always wore their uniforms. I guess those uniforms are quite snazzy.

They probably can't relax. Someone attacks them on the ship.

Oh dear. Flim Flam stowed away.

The fact that the s-word is kept in means good hopes for later episodes (in terms of Joseph).

I don't think whether or not he can swim is the issue.

He's no Michael Phelps.

...did he just punch out a shark?

Would this be JoJaws?

Sexism and animal abuse.

And child molesting.

He's a...g-g-g-g-girl?!

Well, the shark is officially no longer the alpha predator.

And that's what a shark stand beatdown looks to a non-stand user.

I don't remember Flim Flam being a girl.

Look out! It's Black Manta!

Oh yeah. Forgot about sharks when making my point about Matthew Pyke's murderer needing to spend money on a plane ride to pull his BS.

And wow, Samus Is A Girl. At least this girl has some self-respect. FINALLY.

Demon Blade? Which anime do you thin you're in?

IT'S THE CAPTAIN! IT'S THE CAPTAIN!

It's Captain Louis Armstrong! With hair!

Suddenly I have YMCA's "In the Navy" running through my head.

More hope for the Toonami airing: they don't darken Jotarou's face when he smokes.

At least they have an anti-smoking policy.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
