Honestly, I think it's better for this to be a Nickelodeon series. It could have potentially been a way to attract more attention for Paramount+, but they don't really promote their streaming shows that much from what I can tell and I don't think that a new Avatar series would have changed that. Plus, it would undoubtedly do much better eventually being put on Netflix instead of being stuck on their streaming site. What does confuse me though is labeling it as just a Nickelodeon original series. When IMHO this really should be more a paramount plus exclusive. Yes yes I know the other two were Nickelodeon originals and Nick unlike Cartoon Network is at least trying a BIT with some of their animated programming with very little life action options but it is still primarily Spongebob focused and even something like A New Wish seemed like it did better in streaming then on Nick. Plus if this was from the ground up a streaming series exclusive it could be the more edgier sort of series that could show the range that the Avatar franchise has not just for kids but for Adults as well. I guess we don't know for sure how the show will really line up this early on just something that caught me when realizing it will directly be a Nick show.
This news does sound pretty cool. The premise of everyone being against the Avatar, even the spirits, is an interesting hook. An Avatar with a sibling could also be an interesting dynamic to work with. I wonder how far into the future this is from the end of Korra and if we could see Legend of Korra characters appearing like we did with older characters from the original series. It would also be really interested to see how the Air Nation culture has changed even more after Legend of Korra. It would have been cool to at least get some new character designs, but I assume that they're still early into production and we probably won't get anything like a teaser for quite some time. It's still pretty cool news though.
