Avatar Studios Projects - News and Discussion (Spoilers)

What does confuse me though is labeling it as just a Nickelodeon original series. When IMHO this really should be more a paramount plus exclusive. Yes yes I know the other two were Nickelodeon originals and Nick unlike Cartoon Network is at least trying a BIT with some of their animated programming with very little life action options but it is still primarily Spongebob focused and even something like A New Wish seemed like it did better in streaming then on Nick. Plus if this was from the ground up a streaming series exclusive it could be the more edgier sort of series that could show the range that the Avatar franchise has not just for kids but for Adults as well. I guess we don't know for sure how the show will really line up this early on just something that caught me when realizing it will directly be a Nick show.
Honestly, I think it's better for this to be a Nickelodeon series. It could have potentially been a way to attract more attention for Paramount+, but they don't really promote their streaming shows that much from what I can tell and I don't think that a new Avatar series would have changed that. Plus, it would undoubtedly do much better eventually being put on Netflix instead of being stuck on their streaming site.

This news does sound pretty cool. The premise of everyone being against the Avatar, even the spirits, is an interesting hook. An Avatar with a sibling could also be an interesting dynamic to work with. I wonder how far into the future this is from the end of Korra and if we could see Legend of Korra characters appearing like we did with older characters from the original series. It would also be really interested to see how the Air Nation culture has changed even more after Legend of Korra. It would have been cool to at least get some new character designs, but I assume that they're still early into production and we probably won't get anything like a teaser for quite some time. It's still pretty cool news though.

And besides, ANYTHING premiering on Nickelodeon will basically rule the airwaves. Not to mention streaming has not shown itself capable of actually nurturing new shows. People bash the linear channels but only shows that start on linear actually stay alive long enough to generate hype.

Ah, so the rumors about a 3rd animated series dedicated to Korra's successor/the incarnation of the Avatar who is an Earth Kingdom citizen being planned as one of Avatar Studio's projects ended up being true. It's certainly fitting that this news was officially announced on the day before the franchise's 20th Year Anniversary. The news about how the show has 2 seasons (each with 13 episodes) gives me the impression that this show is more likely to follow Avatar: The Last Airbender's setup of having a "Myth Arc" that spans multiple seasons as opposed to The Legend of Korra's setup of having multiple "sagas" with their own villains; especially when one takes into account how The Legend of Korra's setup was mostly due to the show initially being planned as a mini-series before the executives green-lit additional seasons in a drip-feed manner. The post-apocalyptic setting that's been described in the announcement reminds me a bit of the Hero of the Wilds' duology from the Legend of Zelda Franchise (a franchise that shares the same anniversary date as this franchise, amusingly enough) and the announcement describing society as viewing the Avatar as the world's "destroyer" rather than its "savior" makes me wonder if this might have something to do with Vaatu's influence since Vaatu now resides within the (Light) Avatar via within Raava as of the end of the Spirits Book. In any case, I look forward to learning more about this series as future announcements are made.

"Next Avatar Show Finally Revealed: Introducing Seven Havens"

"It’s finally happening, everybody. Guard your cabbages because there will soon be a new Avatar in town. Nickelodeon, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko formally announced the long-awaited, long-demanded third series in the Avatar canon: Seven Havens.

“Avatar: Seven Havens is set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm,” Nick revealed. “A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.” The official full title is Avatar: Seven Havens which must mean Paramount no longer fears the wrath of James Cameron over having the A-word in the title."

One theory I've seen is that Korra fought against this devastating cataclysm, but died in the process. I'm not sure if they'll go that route, if only because showing how she died might be a bit too dark, but I'm sure that they'll reveal more behind what happened so that it wasn't just Korra messing up badly. I do hope that the new Avatar will somehow restore the connections with all of their past lives. She'll only be able to communicate with Korra potentially and I can understand the notion of Korra being a new start to the Avatar cycle, but no one liked that development in season two and somehow being able to restore that connection with all of their past lives would be nice.

I also realized that all of the original characters, aside from maybe Iroh, wouldn't be able to appear since they'd most likely would have passed on by the time this series takes place. I could see Dante Basco still showing up to voice one of Zuko's descendants, but it's still kind of sad. Tenzin was my favorite Legend of Korra character and I'd doubt that he would still be around, although I'm sure that we'll see his kids at least.

Having recently had a chance to re-read the brief summary about Seven Havens that has been released to the public, I realize that the summary hasn't clarified how much time has passed between the end of The Legend of Korra and the start of Seven Havens. On one hand, The Legend of Korra was set 70 years after Avatar: The Last Airbender but on the other hand, supplementary material made a point to mention that Aang spending a consecutive century in the Avatar State (due to being trapped in the iceberg) took a toll on his lifespan and I recall it being mentioned that Kyoshi had managed to live somewhere over 200 years (although it's also worth acknowledging that Bumi I manage to reunite with Aang 100 years later). It does raise an intriguing question on if being the Avatar can have an effect on one's lifespan compared to the rest of the world's population or not. Considering the Avatar's reputation by the time of Seven Havens, there's also a very likely possibility that Korra didn't have a natural death. In any case, I'm curious to see how much time passed between the end of The Legend of Korra and the start of Seven Havens since that could also provide some insight on if we'll be seeing any human characters from The Legend of Korra or not.

Having had some time to think over what information has been revealed in the summary thus far, I find it interesting that the summary has made a point to mention that the current incarnation of the Avatar/Korra's successor has a twin as this helps to strengthen my speculation on the possibility of Vaatu's influence coming into play. While the Spirits Book has gained a bit of an imfamous reputation among some circles, I admit that I actually like the concept of the Dark Avatar as I feel it has great potential by acting as an "eternal villain" to contrast with the Light Avatar's "eternal hero". I admit I wasn't to thrilled with how the Dark Avatar concept was executed in the Spirits Book but the knowledge that Vaatu now resides within the (Light) Avatar via within Raava as of the end of the Spirits Book and the knowledge that Korra's successor/the current incarnation of the Avatar has a twin makes me hopeful that the Dark Avatar concept may have another chance. Of course, this is simply speculation on my part and I acknowledge that more information and time will provide clarity on if this speculation might have any merit.

Well he talented so it’s gonna be nice to have him here but when does this release again? Feels like we’ve been hearing about this for a bit of awhile now
January 30, 2026 last I read.

Here's a fun article I wrote on why Ruby and Jade from Sofia The First are good characters.
Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
