Interesting list, but why do you like/dislike them?

Does ANYONE like Fanboy and Chum Chum?

The general consensus in this thread is that it's the worse thing to come out of Nick since The X's. So, for me, that begs the question; who is watching it? Obviously, somebody out there must be, considering that Nick is still pouring money into the production of new episodes.

Are people just too embarassed to admit it that they like it, or is Nick actually wasting money on a show that nobody watches? I'm curious to know what exactly the case is here.

Toonzone is just one website. This forum doesn't represent the entire population who does watch Fanboy and Chum Chum.

My 7 year old sister likes it. I asked her why one day and her response was "It's funny! And it looks cool." So since she's in the right demographic, I'm pretty sure there's enough of little kids that like it to keep it on the air for now.

Rick Jones and LeatherJeans listed Fanboy among their likes.

This forum may not be the whole world, but it sure is diverse. I mean, I'm seeing Avatar: The Last Airbender, Doug, The Angry Beavers, Rocko's Modern Life and The Penguins of Madagascar in dislike columns. And I always thought those shows were as close to "universal cartoon acclaim" as possible.

And then we have a couple off-the-board "likes" picks, such as El Tigre, Pelswick... and my seemingly solitary love of The Brothers Flub. Seriously, WHAT WAS WRONG WITH FLUB besides maybe its theme song?!? That will forever be a mystery to me.

Huntsman — out of curiosity, what were the experiences that made you dislike Catscratch?

#3 - The Penguins of Madagascar - I personally don't see how this show is popular. In my opinion, it is very boring. But I must say, the designs are cool. Other than that, I find this show boring and unfunny.

Out of curiosity, how many episodes have you seen? The first couple aren't exactly their best work; I think it took off around "Two Feet High and Rising." (Never mind that I really like feet...) There is a ton of adult humor in it, and I just like King Julien in general.

Ha, Pelswick, my pick! I've only met a few, though, that loved it as much as I did......

My top five favorite Nicktoons:

5: Jimmy Neutron: The graphics were nice for the time, the characters were entertaining, and it was fun to laugh at how bad the science could be at times.:p

4: Spongebob Squarepants: One of animation's greatest sucess stories, this show deserves most of its popularity. It has gone slightly downhill in the latest seasons, though.

3: The Penguins of Madagascar: If someone had told me that a movie spin-off would be so witty and appealing, I would have thought them an advertising executive. But this show certainly stands up well to any Nicktoon and is one of my top ten favorite cartoons ever. The concept is wonderful too.

2: Danny Phantom: I love the concept for this show. It is fascinating and original, and only one show on Nick can beat it in my opinion. It has engaging characters, continuity, and I actually found it funny.

1: The Fairly Odd Parents: This cartoon is what got me to start watching Nickelodeon in the first place. I was unwilling to watch anything but my beloved CN, until one day my grandfather changed the channel to Nick and left before he could change it further. I saw part of the episode My Shiny Teeth and Me, and I remember being facsinated by the fantasy in the show. It wasn't until slightly later that I actually watched a full episode, and I loved it. The concept is brilliant, the characters were wonderful, and it remains my very favorite cartoon to this day, with the only ones coming close being the 90's Warner Bros. cartoons that I only started watching a couple months ago.

My three least favorite(That I've seen enough to rate fairly):

3: Doug: Bland. Just bland. I say the same for Hey Arnold.

2: As Told By Ginger: The art style was hideous, the plot was boring, and the characters didn't appeal to me. The theme song was good though.

1: Invader Zim: Ack, I couldn't stand it. Dib got tortured, the humor was far, far too dark(and I love Portal's humor), and the art style was the ugliest I've seen in my life. Although I don't deny its general quality, it is my personal least favorite Nicktoon.

Listed more of my favorites:

Ren and Stimpy-I like Stimpy. Plus the gross/weird stuff.
Rugrats-A classic! Basically an awesome show to grow up on. :anime:
Jimmy Neutron-Loved the movie. Can't wait for Planet Sheen!

Oh yeah and Pelswick is a pretty meh Nicktoon. Yet I only saw a little of it when I was younger...

Technically, Pelswick isn't a Nicktoon at all. It was a 3rd party acquisition from Canada's Nelvana Studios.

Favorite Nicktoon: I have to go with Rocko's Modern Life. The show was funny and it had an edge to it without being over the top with it's raunchiness and gross-out humor, so Rocko succeeded on more than 1 level. Furthermore, Rocko also succeeded because I could relate to many of it's characters.

Least Favorite Nicktoon: If I had to choose, I guess that I would say Rocket Power. This series simultaneously tried to be a Rugrats for tweens (complete with it's own nerdy, nebbishy kid with glasses, Sam, who could have been Chuckie's older cousin) and also tried to cash in on the (then) hot new trend of extreme sports, complete with annoying cutaways to "hip" buzzwords as if the show were some MTV wannabe. The main characters were based on types rather than individuals, and Otto and Reggie Rocket came from the very boring and clichéd single (in this case widowed) father household. Rocket Power was basically a "Poochie"--a show that was designed and calculated to be cool and hip and came off as very shallow and soulless. Everything about this show screamed "wanna be cool".

Totally have to agree with this one by about 100%. I too loathed Rocket Power. Only cool thing was the "That's the spirit!" guy. Everything else was disposable to me.

To the bolded: I still to this day quote that guy in that voice whenever I end up saying "that's the spirit!"

My top and bottom 5:

Best:
5. Danny Phantom: a great ORIGINAL superhero show is hard to find, but Danny Phantom fit the bill perfectly! If only it had a longer run :(

4: Spongebob (Pre-Movie episodes only): As bad as this show has become (we'll get to that later), the original was so fresh and entertaining! And, also, HILARIOUS!

3. Hey Arnold: What I loved about this show was that alot of episodes are sort of short character studies of the children (and adults) around Arnold rather than just about him. The charaters were very fleshed out, it was fun and funny to watch, and it even managed to be very touching in some cases.

2. Rugrats: Although this is partially due to nostalgia filter (it was the first cartoon I remember watching), the show is still great looking back at it!

1. Avatar: I don't think anything else needs to be said, it's Avatar! :D

Worst:
5. Post-movie Spngebob: WOW. Talk about derailment. They took a show that was groundbreaking, drove it into the ground, and they're not even bothering to try and get anyone inside the plane out so they can survive (ok, little morbid there, but you get my point.)

4. Tak: BORING. That's it. That's all that can be said about it. The most boring show I have ever seen.

3. Rocket Power: Boring, but also boring while doing that whole "HEY KIDS! IF YOU DON'T GO OUTSIDE, YOU'RE A LOSER, BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO STAY INSIDE AND WATCH THIS SHOW SO YOU CAN KNOW THAT!" thing that I have never liked.

2. The Mighty B: Every joke in this show was a visual gross out joke, making fun of how annoying Bessie is by letting her TALK ENDLESSLY (BTW, worst voice acting in ANY show), an SNL reference, or something so stupid it makes me facepalm

1. Fanboy and Chum Chum: again, don't have to say much. It's Fanboy and Chum chum.

*BONUS!!*: So Bad It's Good: Back at the Barnyard: it's absoloutley horrible, but it's so random and stupid that it's fun to watch how bad it is!

Some of the Best:
Ren and Stimpy
Avatar: the Last Airbender
Ahhh!! Real Monsters

Some of the Worst:
Rocket Power
The Wild Thornberries
Newer Rugrats

Okay, guys, seriously. Please give a reason WHY you like these shows. Do not just make a list. This is not a list thread. We are here to discuss why we like and dislike the shows. It adds substance and encourages healthy discussion which is what we want.

I've already stated this once before. From here on out, if anyone just gives off a list without reason behind it, you will get a warning.

Show I liked that literally no one else did:
The Brothers Flub: Why did this die off so quickly? I really, honestly, non-ironically liked it. I thought the characters were funny and the premise interesting. This didn't even have an article on Wikipedia for over three years because the first three articles someone made were vandalism. I have looked for a LONG time and not found one other fan of this show.

Dude I didn't think anyone else even knew this show existed.

"You will now witness the most hillarious idiocy...the world has ever known"

Kudos to you.

mixed feelings

Jimmy Neutron actually grew on me despite it's corniness. Sheen and Jimmy's dad had some great lines. Even the Jimmy/Cindy angle is kind of cute. It's one of those relationships that would have been endearing if the show was sharper/funnier ala classic Homer/Marge. Although, they get points for actually developing/resolving the tension between them.

Also, this show would have looked sooooo much better in 2D. Especially with the 1950's fusion look going on.

My favourite Nicktoons, I just can't argue on this topic, I love Nicktoons in general.

Ren & Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life have been plenty rich in slapstick and hidden adult gags, truly the best in their time.

Aaahh!!! Real Monsters! is one show that NickToons should bring back, at least every Halloween season. That show was scary awesome, and the best Klasky-Csupo NickToon around (along with Rugrats).

Hey Arnold also takes its share in rich humour, mabye not the same as Ren & Stimpy's, but rich in teaching life lessons as well.

I'd throw in the Angry Beavers, too. Daggett was always the spice of the party with his hyperactivity in my vote.

CatDog was more rich in its wacky eye-catching style, much more than its twisted humour.

SpongeBob, same reason as R&S and Rocko, expect with a more kid-friendly extent.

I adore Invader ZIM's dark-humoured and nefarious plots.

My Life as a Teenage Robot, like most female-protagonist action cartoons, just plain kick butt in my opinion.

Catscratch was fun, and also rather underrated compared to other NickToons of its time.

When I first watched Back at the Barnyard, I was laughing my pants off since day one! Truly a funny as heck NickToon of its time.

The Mighty B, same reason why I like Teenage Robot, but light on action and high in comedy. I thank Amy Poehler for this one.

I just got too many to list, they're all good, old and new.
No least favoured NickToons for me, but some are overrated due to overcommercialism. Hence that fact, there all fun to watch in rotation.

Yeah, that's what I've been saying about it since day one.

I always thought the overall writing in Jimmy Neutron was pretty good. It's just... the animation is so... bad. I have nothing against CGI when it's done right, but this was NOT CGI done right. It looks ugly, cheap, and for whatever reason, the character movements always seem slow. I swear, there are times that I think a rock could outpace them.

Favorites:

My #1 Favorite nicktoon is Angry beavers. It Is just so funny! The Joke are hilarious And they dont over do it. The Plots are always hilarious I seriously cant think of any episodes that i dont like. All the characters are Funny in there own way! And I like how they talk over eachother when there fighting. Norberts Teasing jokes are funny and its funny how Daggett Flips out :D

(Rest of these are NOT in order)

I like Invader zim because the jokes are also funny and You never know what is gonna happen next

Kablam was also funny (My favorite to watch was Prometheus and Bob :))

Rockos modern life Was pretty Random and funny. Filburt was funny when he fought with Heffer and in the Wacky delly episode you could hear Heffer saying "You cant even draw stick figures!" And then Filburt was like "Why you fat cow!"

Least Favorite:

Fan boy and chum chum is just wow. Nickelodeon gone from making good shows like Angry beavers and Rocko modern like to making terrible shows Like This!? Wow. The jokes arent even funny. I wouldnt be able to stand watching another episode.

Spongebob square pants Is what i think started the downfall of good shows on nickelodeon. Its so predictable! You ALWAYS know whats gonna happen next and that just makes it boring. It seems like they done everything in the older episodes and redoing it in the new ones. And they play it on TV WAY too much

Avatar is really stupid in my opinion. It has poor animation and such a bad storyboard. It doesnt make any sense and sometimes leaves me confused.

The Mighty B seems like they tried making it like Ren and Stimpy and epically failed. All the jokes are about Mucus and Farts and its just now funny. My 4 year old brother even hates it. Its not amusing in the least bit.

Here's a fun article I wrote on why Ruby and Jade from Sofia The First are good characters.
Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
