What Are Your Most & Least Favorite Nicktoons?

From what I've read about him on this forum, he's quite a jerk in real life. That's unfortunate.

He is. For a while he hosted his own forum on his website and would constantly insult his fans right in their faces. He would also threaten to ban people for talking about Earthworm Jim too much.

I think he's bitter that Earthworm Jim is his only claim to fame and he knows he'll never make something as successful ever again.

Well, my most favorite are easily: Rugrats, Aaahhh Real Monsters!, Doug, Hey Arnold!

My less favorite (somewhere in the middle - don't like them that much, but still like to watch them) are: SpongeBob Squarepants, The Wild Thornberrys, CatDog, Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The ones I don't like at all (and avoid watching them) are: Fairly Odd Parents, Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Back at the Barnyard, MightyB! and The X's.

I think it has to do with the animation style and the 'smartness' of the older toons. These new ones all look the same, aren't funny at all, and look too shallow - too generic. The first four I've mentioned - the classics, were creative and really the best thing Nickelodeon has produced, hands down. Sadly toons like that aren't made anymore.

Most Favorites:

*Rugrats - It was a funny show to watch.
*Adventures Of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius - What can I say? Great ideas behind it.

Least Favorites:

*All Grown Up - A big mistake. Should've just stuck with ending with Rugrats.
*The Mighty B! - It was very boring. Nothing interesting happened.

For most favorite, it's a toss-up between Avatar, Rocko's Modern Life, and Invader Zim. Avatar has the action/characterization/humor, while the latter two have madcap zaniness with (IMO) lovable characters and satire thrown in.

For least favorite, I'd have to go with The X's. The plots and characters were flat, and the super bright coloring hurt my eyes.

Favorite:
SpongeBob: Best show ever. I am really tired of the the people who hate it after the movie. It's getting really annoying.

The Penguins of Madagascar: Funny, good show.

Jimmy Neutron: My second favorite science fiction show. (right next to Dexter's Lab)

Rocko's Modern Life: One of the best old show. Glad it back.

CatDog: Underrated, funny show.

Least Favorite:

Invader Zim: Kinda overrated.

Avatar: Same reason as Tak.

Tak and the power of tufu: Same reason as Nick and More's.

I just watched a few episodes of Invader Zim,and I now realize that this is my new favorite nicktoon. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Avatar is my fave, hands down. It's so different from the usual Nicktoon that it's amazing it ever got made, and that it was so good.

Spongebob is my second fave, although I seldom watch anymore. The new episodes make him too careless and stupid for my taste.

Least favorite: Fairly Odd Parents. It was a bummer watching that show go downhill, so I stopped watching it completely.

Favs...Rocko's Modern Life, Ren & Stimpy, Doug, Ahh Real Monsters, Avatar, Mighty B!, Rugrats, Wild Thornberrys, Hey Arnold...I love them all the same.

Hated...Pelswick, Angry Beavers, As Told By Ginger, CatDog, Rocket Power

Favorites:

SpongeBob SquarePants (Seasons 1-3): Classic. Very reminiscent of Rocko's Modern Life (another favorite of mine); tons of memorable moments and episodes.

Doug (Nick episodes only): Unlike most kids' shows on nowadays, you could actually relate to this one most of the time.

Hey Arnold: Same reasons as Doug. This show was very realistic for a kids' show at the time. How often do you see cartoons do an episode on Veteran's Day? Plus, a memorable cast of characters.

Ren & Stimpy: One of the craziest cartoons ever. Also very innovative for its time.

Least Favorites: Anything made by Klasky-Csupo post-1997 (Their early shows, such as AAAHH! Real Monsters and 1991-94 Rugrats, were great stuff. What happened here?), Fairly OddParents post-season 3, Teenage Robot, Danny Phantom (I know a lot of people like this one but I just couldn't get into it), The X's, The Mighty B, Fanboy & Chum Chum (this is almost like FOP, the way the characters are overly hyper).

Most of the other shows are pretty decent from what I've seen.

Favs:
FanBoy and Chum Chum: Funny yet weird

ChalkZone: Sweet Nicktoon! I loved how Rudy and his friends always had adventure in every episode

Rocko's Modern Life: This show is a reason I watch Camp Lazlo and the sexual jokes were funny yet wacky. Rocko and Spunky are my favorite characters!

Spongebob Squarepants: Er...Just like what some people said on here. Good, Bad, Meh...

Fairly Odd Parents: Good show. I know the show has gone downhill a bit but it is good on some parts.

Least Favs:
As Told by Ginger: Good plotline yet ugly character designs.

Tak and the power of JuJu: Didn't see it much but when I did, it was boring.

OK shows: (Note: These were ones I didn't watch much but they have a ton of fangirls...)

Avatar the Last Airbender: Nice show with action and funny stuff in between.

Danny Phatom: Had action yet it was a bit boring in some parts.

Invader Zim: Show was funny but I do feel uncomfortable when I walk into a Hot Topic and see GIR sometimes...

Another favorite of mine was The Secret Show.

Not very good animation, but hilarious characters and running jokes, great humor, good plot, and great voice acting and music. Just a unique, fun, and exciting show.:)

Below, is an updated list of Nicktoons that I like, dislike, and I kind of like, kind of hate.

FAVORITE NICKTOONS:

#5 - The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius - I love this show so much. The designs are great and the creativity is amazing. I love the writing and enjoy every second of it.

#4 - The Fairly OddParents - I love the simple designs of this show. Also, I find this show really funny and I enjoy every moment of it.

#3 - As Told By Ginger - I love the writing to this show. I find this show funny and I love the designs. Great Nicktoon!

#2 - Rugrats - A very creative concept. Love the writing and designs. I also find this show hilarious.

#1 - Hey Arnold! - I love the writing of this show. This show has cool designs and is hilarious. My favorite Nicktoons of all time.

LEAST FAVORITE NICKTOONS:

#5 - Tak and the Power of Juju - For the most part, this show was really boring. It got kind of annoying really fast, and it had no point at all.

#4 - Back at the Barnyard - In my opinion, this show is boring and nothing interesting really happens. I kind of feel that this show need some change instead of being similar in every episode.

#3 - The Penguins of Madagascar - I personally don't see how this show is popular. In my opinion, it is very boring. But I must say, the designs are cool. Other than that, I find this show boring and unfunny.

#2 - The Mighty B! - In my opinion, it is very boring, and nothing interesting happens.

#1 - Fanboy and Chum Chum - In my opinion, this show has way too much toilet humor, which I hate too much of it. I also find this show boring.

OKAY NICKTOONS (KIND OF LIKE, KIND OF HATE):

#5 - All Grown Up! - A few episodes were enjoyable, while others were just plain boring. I think it had its funny moments, but overall, Rugrats was way better.

#4 - Spongebob Squarepants - I love some episodes, but a few of them, mainly the newer ones, were kind of weak, in my opinion. Sometimes, Patrick's stupidity just gets really annoying, while at first, it was funny.

#3 - The Wild Thornberrys - I love some episodes, but in general, the concept of the show is kind of boring, in my opinion.

#2 - Rocket Power - I love some episodes, but in general, the concept of the show is kind of boring, in my opinion.

#1 - Rocko's Modern Life - There are some moments of this show that I enjoy, but parts of it just bore me.

Favorites: Rocco for pre-2000 nicktoons, The Fairly OddParents for post
Least: All Klasky Csupo cartoons, never liked the style

Favorites, alphabetically:
The Angry Beavers: God, I miss this show. Zany, well-animated, and indiosyncratic voice acting. Jokes that I got even as an aspie preteen. It just tried for funny every time and always worked. "Spoot" is still in my vocabulary.

CatDog: If you have more of a body part than you should have, or a very weird body design, I'll probably like it for that alone. Beyond that, I loved the theme song, the animation style and the tone of the show.

Doug: Just like Doug, I was a shy, nerdy little kid with a massive imagination. I just identified with so many aspects of this show. Sure, it was witty more than bust-a-gut funny, but there's nothing wrong with that. Then Disney ripped out the show's heart and soul...

Hey Arnold!: Also succeeded by taking a more realistic approach with well-developed characters, interesting plots and a great deal of wit.

The Penguins of Madagascar: The characters are interesting, the jokes fast and sharp, the voice acting top-notch. I also like that the penguin/lemur relationship isn't just simple protagonist/antagonist; they do get along at times. A strong otter character and Ho Yay out the yin-yang are only icing on the cake. (I ship Julien/anyone.)

Rocko's Modern Life: Speaking of getting crap past the radar... really, who doesn't like this show? It was gross at times, but it was very, very funny, quirky and it only gets better when you catch all the adult humor.

Hated at first but now consider a favorite:
Invader Zim: I hated this at first because of how dark, creepy and random it was. That and I knew the goth kids loved it and I was really afraid of becoming one of them. But then I realized just how dark my sense of humor really is...

Show I liked that literally no one else did:
The Brothers Flub: Why did this die off so quickly? I really, honestly, non-ironically liked it. I thought the characters were funny and the premise interesting. This didn't even have an article on Wikipedia for over three years because the first three articles someone made were vandalism. I have looked for a LONG time and not found one other fan of this show.

Least favorites:
As Told by Ginger: Is there anyone with a Y chromosome who DID like this show?!

Rocket Power: I, too, hated how the TOTALLY RADICAL was shoved in our faces. That and I'm not EXTREME in any way.

SpongeBob SquarePants: As I've said countless times, I hated this from the first episode because I just thought it was so incredibly stupid. There are some honest moments of funny, but they get drowned out by gallons of stupid.

Haven't seen a full episode of so can't call fave/least fave yet:
Fairly OddParents: I've occasionally seen snippets of the later episodes, and the voices are like ten penny nails on the world's largest chalkboard. The concept looks decent, so I guess I'll have to check back the earlier episodes (from before the entire voice cast started sucking cubic yards of helium before every session).

Never saw:
Ren & Stimpy: No, I'm not kidding. I knew it was gross, and everyone annoyed me with "happy happy joy joy," so I stayed away. Don't worry, I'm gonna remedy that.

Avatar: The Last Airbender: Still not kidding.

Also never saw any of the other originals that came between Zim and PoM except ChalkZone, and have yet to see any of Fanboy & Chum Chum. Nor did I ever see Pelswick or Butt-Ugly Martians.

most:

It alway's been Rocko's Modern Life. It's been a true classic, Jokes are suitable for my tastS as well as the voice-acting. Catscratch, The X's, and Mr. Meaty were Nick's most underrated shows.

least:

I never find CatDog funny, ditto Chalkzone & Tak and The Power of Juju. The main characters has a bully [Reggie, Lok, and The Greaser Dogs], Always do wrong and tries to undo it, and they act like a 2-year-old in certain episodes

Favorites: Rocko, Mlaatr, Ren & Stimpy
Least favorites: Everything else, though Butch Hartman's shows take the cake
Still was a better network than CN was, even in the "good ol' days", and still is. Endless Ivomit and Spongebob reruns are at least more tolerable than anything else these days.

Updated list

My updated favorite/least favorite:
Favorite:
SpongeBob (any seasons): Best show. Still *tired* of new episodes bashing (cause I'm a fan). The only thing is going downhill is the storyboards and writing. They need to change the storyboard teams. It starting to get old escipally Casey Alexander+Zeus Cervas and Luke Brookshier+Nate Cash (both of the teams had been paired since season 5). The first 5 seasons storyboards were good. Need directors. SpongeBob is only annoying in Squidward episodes. Patrick has stay like that since season 4. I hate it how iCarly ALWAYS has to come out after SB air.

TPOM (can't spell the last word right): My thoughts: One of the best shows. I enjoyed the movies and the penguins. Characters: Most of them are good. Voice Acting/Music: Same as characters. Writing: I like it, but they need more writers, instead of Brandon Sawyer and Bill Motz+Bob Roth writing episodes over and over. That gets old. Storyboard: Better than SpongeBob's current storyboards style. Favorite storyboards are Christo Stamboliev, Tom Bernado, Sean Kreiner, Dean Kelly, Doug Murphy, and Steve Loter. Directing: They need more directors like SpongeBob. Episodes: Most of them are good.
Rocko's Modern Life, my thoughts: Best old school show ever. Characters: Good, better than SpongeBob characters. Acting: This show and Fanboy need more actors. Writing/Storyboards: Awesome. This and SpongeBob are the only shows on Nick to use writing teams. The best writing teams were a tie of Stephen Hillenburg+Mark O'Hare and Dan Povenmire+Jeff Swampy Marsh. Other favorite writers incudles Martin Olson (also favorite on Phineas and Ferb), Joe Murray, George Masteri, and a few more.
CatDog, thoughts: Funny show. Underrated like FB+CC. Acting: Good. Winslow's voice remind of Rocko and Lube's remind me of Clam from Camp Lazlo. Characters: Main characters are good, Winslow is mixed, Greasers are mixed as well, the squirrel who wants to be a Greaser annoys me because of that, rabbit is funny, but only if he doesn't acts as an enemy like in Moving on Up. Writing: Awesome. Best writer: Steven Banks (also favorite on SpongeBob). Storyboards: Good as well. Favorite are Dan Povenmire (even though I prefer him as a writer), Antoine Guilbaud (spelling? Also favorite on Camp Lazlo and Phineas+Ferb), Dominic Orlando, Derek Drymon, Robert Porter, and a few.
Hey Arnold: Good show. Wish they has it back.
Angry Beavers: Same reasons as HA.
Invader Zim: Used to hate it because overrated, but I like it now. Needs more episodes. I think Zim is funny.

Average shows:
Fanboy and Chum Chum: This show is mixed, so it's alright, but it not bad. 8/10. Scheudle: Kinda irrating. Always air after/before Penguins. Also, it really annoying how this show is compared to penguins, so that why I like that show better than FBACC. Acting: Alright, but needs more actors. Characters: Fanboy, Kyle, Boog, Mr. Mufflin, Janitor are my favorite. Chum Chum, Fankylechum (stupid name and boring character), and Yo. They annoy me, escipally Yo. Writing: Alright, but they need some more. They only has 5 writers (Steve, Eric, Scott, Michael, and someone else). Storyboards: Better than the show's writing. Favorite are Tom King, Howie Perry, Eddie Trigious (sp, terrible time spelling it), Octavio Rodriguez, and Niki Yang. Music: Boring. They used a boring style music in the show, and they are the same.

Least favorite:
Avatar, the last airbender: Can't watch a single whole episode with this. I'm glad it not on Nick anymore, but they has to air a billion times on Nicktoons. This and DZK (I don't wanna follow the story) ruins the weekend morning block. I remember they used to show penguins on Friday morning before June, but not anymore. I don't watch shows like these.
Tak: Same as Avatar.

My personal favorites:

The Angry Beavers: Hilarious writing + out-there references + fine voice work by Bakay and Horvitz = classic.

The Fairly Oddparents: (first season) Sparkled with a wit that one didn't see in many shows...and certainly doesn't see in the show now.

Back at the Barnyard: Sometimes, you're not looking for any deep meaning in a cartoon. Sometimes, you just want to laugh yourself silly.

Action League Now!*: Same as above. I imagine that those action figures were pretty cheap.

Not great, but pretty darn good:

Hey Arnold!: Some good writing, impressive supporting cast. Too bad it flew off the rails with that whole Arnold/Helga thing.

All Grown Up: Marred only by some weak episodes and not enough references to the original show, but for what it was, quite enjoyable.

The Penguins of Madagascar: A little too convenient about what the title characters do and don't understand (which led to eye-rollers like "Miss Understanding" and "I Was a Penguin Zombie"), but a fine show when it works.

Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius: Pretty much what I said about "Hey Arnold!", but substitute 'Jimmy/Cindy' for 'Arnold/Helga'.

My Life as a Teenage Robot: Striking designs and a good sense of humor.

In defense of...

The X's: Not a classic, but had some wonderfully absurd moments ("Coffee table! I...will be...your master!") and a good voice cast; who knew Chris Hardwick could get his voice to sound like that?

ChalkZone: If nothing else, one has to admire its visual style (compare ChalkZone to the show's real world).

Catscratch: I love cats (who doesn't?) and the rapport between the characters was delightful.

Nostalgic favorites:

AAAHH! Real Monsters: Haven't seen it in years, but I remember it being funny and gross (and the grossness actually worked for the show instead of distracting us).

Rocko's Modern Life: Perhaps, the most surreal (and quotable) of all NickToons. Holds up surprisingly well.

Doug: Even now, I see some of myself in Doug. A weird show (the music and color scheme, anyone?), but enjoyable.

Rugrats: (first three seasons) A silly idea redeemed by its characters and strong writing.

Ren and Stimpy: An acquired taste, no matter how you look at it, but very funny, at times. "Space Madness", even 20 years later, is a work of genius.

Overrated:

Invader Zim: Clever ideas and design, not to mention superb music, but soon (for me) de-evolved into 'How can we humiliate Dib this week?'.

Danny Phantom: Interesting stories and characters...bludgeoned by tragically unfunny humor. Imagine what the show could've been like on Cartoon Network...

Never really got into it:

El Tigre, Tak and the Power of Juju, Avatar: the Last Airbender and any of the other Klasky-Csupo shows I didn't mention. Maybe, they're terrific. Maybe, they're not. I couldn't tell you.

Bottom of the barrel:

The Mighty B!: Too many non-endings and a general air of stupidity and this show never stood a chance with me.

CatDog: File this under 'nostalgic dislike'. It boggles the mind how writers can (consciously or otherwise) make a character into a butt monkey, as with Cat. I haven't seen an episode in years, but I probably wouldn't think much of it now. Cool theme song, though.

The Fairly Oddparents (from "Fairly OddBaby" on)/Fanboy and Chum Chum: Annoying characters saying and doing annoying things does not equal comedy. One has to work to make annoying characters funny. If you're not willing to work, why are you even in the business?!

Uncategorizable:

Spongebob Squarepants: Sometimes, it's a masterpiece. Others, it's a one-note pile of irritation. Thanks to the TV listings, it's like a game of Russian roulette when trying to watch an episode.

* - And a special shout-out to the amusing "Sniz and Fondue". To be honest, I never cared that much about the rest of "KaBlam!"

My favorite has to be Avatar. The most character development I've seen in any animated series with a great cast, not to mention the epic music. :) Invader Zim is also a favorite, as is Spongebob, but for me it's a hit or miss with that one.

Least favorite for me is The Mighty Bee. I'm just not into stupid humor, and I think that the whole "the character is completely useless and annoying, but too dumb to realize that no one likes him" thing is really getting old. /No offense to Mighty Bee fans.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
