Thinking about Deep Discount

So perhaps another early start on a Thursday or Friday might be in the cards, thus my prediction of the 18th or 19th.
Well, I just got an email from DeepDiscountCD (not DVD) telling me about a promotion at one of their "affiliate sites" and guess what? 20% off all DVD's at DeepDiscountDvd going on from 11/11 through 11/19... ends this friday but I only got the email today... well whatever.

Here's a pic!

Looked to see if they had Excel Saga :) Couldn't see it under Anime but Ed Edd n Eddy was there xD.
What IS Anime anymore?

There's a thread for this on Page 2.

Too bad it's not a 20% sale at DeepDiscountCD. You had my hopes up for a second there.

Ah, I looked and didn't see on, so I figured this was a good place to put it.

Yeah, I wish the sale was on both sites, there's some music I've been wanting to pick up!

AD Vision is not participating in the sale and requested that DDDVD take down their titles for the duration of the sale.

As for the shipping issues, I think it has to do where you live/how busy they get. The first order I placed was the Thursday the sale started, it shipped out Friday, and I got it the following Wednesday. That was a FAST turnaround for them. But I tell ya, even during times I might have to wait longer, I really don't care. I have so many unwatched DVDs, they can send it on a turtles back from China and it won't bother me.

Ah, I thought they'd just sold out of Rahxephon and Evangelion Platinum... good to know, but still kind of annoying.

Yeah... sorta flustered me for a sec. Just to make sure, I can still order tomorrow with the promotion, right? I know, the image says 11/19, but FredNash says... it ends today.

I ordered the Invader Zim Box Set for my sister's christmas present on the start of the sale. All items were labeled in stock... now a week later, my order has still not shipped, and they claim that it is too late to cancel, even though they have not charged my credit card and it has not been shipped to me. I've had it with this site. It's not worth saving 5 dollars when you have to wait 2-3 weeks to get your order. I will never order from deepdiscountdvd again.

I've never had that happen.

An order I placed on the 10th shipped on the 11th.
An order I placed on the 12th shipped on the 16th.

Deep Discount DVD can be slow, but for a Christmas present, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I saved a lot more than $5, btw. :)

You should be OK if you need it by Christmas. And I don't know if it showed, but much of the time when you add something to the cart, it will tell you if it's back ordered. DDDVD sold out. Stores sell out of stuff. That's like saying you'd never shop at Best Buy again because they went out of stock on a certain DVD and it took three weeks before they replenished their stock on that one DVD. This is a MASSIVE sale that gets more and more popular as the years go by, and unless you act QUICK, towards the end of the sale, you're going to risk out of stock items. But they should have it in by Christmas.

What you could do is order it from another site and return it to DDDVD if push comes to shove, but you should be OK. Just don't give up on this great store based on an out of stock DVD that could have occurred anywhere.

deepdiscountdvd: Reputable e-tailer???

I'm searching for feedback from TZ members about deepdiscountdvd.
I'm a brick and mortar guy but I saw an unbeatable deal on deepdiscountdvd and I was curious about the satisfaction rate amongst my fellow Toonheads.

Please post your glowing or disparaging remarks or just feel free to PM me in case the mods shut this thread down. Thanks in advance.

They are a very good website/business. Twice a year they have a 20% off sale on all merchandise in stock. In fact, November is when it comes up again.

I order from them all the time. TV show box sets thet I couldn't originally afford in stores on release week, I've bought from them weeks and/or months later. I bought all my Gundam Seed and currently Gundam Seed Destiny DVD's from them. You can't beat $15.11 for current Seed Destiny discs. You're hard pressed to find a better deal with someone else.

I always do their free shipping option. By doing it that way it usually takes about a full business week or more to get your order. It all depends though on where you live in the country. Meaning how far you are from them.

I know there are Toonzone members here that haven't been happy with them before. This isn't the first topic thread about Deep Discount DVD. I'm curious too to see what other people have to say.

The Clown Prince

I learned about deepdiscount from here to. Used it to finish up my christmas shopping last year, somewhat last minute, DVD's got there quickly, they were all wrapped, nothing shadey, fairly well packaged. I've got another friend of mine shipping off there to and he's nothing but satisfied. So I'd say go for it.

I usually buy from them during their 20% off sales. When I'm pre-ordering stuff I usually go to them or Amazon. Depends on who's cheaper. Usually only a $1 difference in price. Never had a problem with them. They are slow though when you use the free shipping option. But so is Amazon.

if you have the time to wait, deepdiscountdvd cant be beat. i usually get my orders about a week and a half after making them, but it can be up to 3 weeks. but havng said that, i order a lot from them, and i have NEVER not gotten my order, and in good condition. be sure when you place an order that you really want it. there is no cancel order option, nly mail back returns. their low prices more than make up for any inconveiniences though. one last note. i have had some delays when pre-ordering items. the items ahve been out of stock when they were supposed to be available causeing extra delay, but they always still get sent eventually.

for price comparisons, dvdaficionado.com is a great tool.

I love them. With only rare exceptions, I buy all my on-line DVDs from them. I hit the 20% sales pretty hard usually, but their prices are usually pretty good during those "off-times" too. Sometimes it takes a bit to ship, but every once and a while I'm shocked at how quickly it gets here. I've had nothing but good experiences.

how reliable is it to use a debit card online?

it seems too risky :/ more than using a credit card.

resident banker, your liability w/ credit card is far less than a debit card however lawmakers are working to bring grant debit cards the same liability protection as credit cards.

for online, credit card is the way to go

i used DDD when i first started buying in "bulk" but since there delivery to my house has ranged from 5 days to 30 days, i'll now only order from them when i'm not looking to receive that order anytime soon. Other than shipping my current primary etailer is dvdpacific, they're shipping prices and times are not too bad and they're only one state away from me

I pretty much exclusivlely buy my dvds at Deep. I have only ever encountered a problem there once (twice actually), when Gundam Seed was coming out they had one of the volumes spelled Dundam, now that Gundam Seed Destiny is coming out they don't even have Volume 4 on there at all, forced to go somewhere more expensive to get it, customer service was flat out useless on it. If you want your dvds in less than a week pay for shipping or go where the dvds are more expensive, otherwise shut up and wait, you get what you pay for. I have only ever had one experience where ordering from Deep was more expensive than Amazon, X3 The Last Stand.

When I looked at those yesterday, X3 was listed at a higher price, but the thing to keep in mind is DDD offer the "lowest total on-line price" and since the Amazon DVDs aren't expensive enough to charge shipping, they come out almost even when you add that.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
