Surprised to see Yogi's First Christmas is airing on The CW this year. If I had to guess they will air it with a TVG rating to avoid FCC Commercial Limits. I can't remember if MeTV Toons aired it with a TVY or TVG rating last year.
The iconic cartoon bear Yogi heads to The CW with YOGI’S FIRST CHRISTMAS on Friday, December 19 (8:00-10:00pm ET/PT). Businesswoman Sophie Throckmorton plans to sell the Jellystone Lodge, devastating the regular guests – including Huckleberry Hound, Augie Doggie and Doggie Daddy, and Snagglepuss – and it's up to Ranger Smith, manager Mr. Dingwell, and the newly awake Yogi, Boo Boo, and Cindy to keep the Christmas spirit alive amidst the mischievous attempts of two villains to ruin the fun

This is weird. It's not MeTV Toons, but it has a wider reach; I don't know when did the OTA stations last aired it, considering it was an OPT special 45 years ago.

MeTV Toons has already aired it last year – and will air it this year – but seeing it on The CW is like seeing the ghost of the old-style independent stations traversing through irs affiliates that used to be independent.

Still, a great catch.

I know that WGN aired this special and A Flintstones Christmas in 2008 and 2009 (some airings via their cable WGN America channel). Proof here: A Flintstone Christmas and Yogi's First Christmas on WGN America!

(BTW FUN FACT: In 1982 WGN aired Yogi's First Christmas over several days in 5 parts)

As RandomMe points out, this premiered 45 years ago in syndication, and CW is marking the occasion, throwing a bone to fans of Yogi and other classic HB characters.

I don't think this has nothing to do with milestones. Yogi's reputation in the past few years was restored thanks to Jellystone!, MeTV Toons and the ongoing appeal for those parks in some areas.

The restored print aired first on MeTV Toons last year, as of late, Boomerang still hasn't aired reprocessed copies.

The second and third ones? Maybe. The first one? Yeah, right...

But moving right along...

When it originally aired, it was presented as part of "Operation Prime Time" (OPT), which Wikpedia (yeah, I know, but it's all I have) says was a "de facto fourth television network".

I'm surprised as well. However, while I think the movie is okay for the most part, I didn't like the part where the aunt gives her nephew a "dressing down" after...

the role he played in wrecking the lodge, and the Christmas celebration.

I know that the movie was actually trying to teach a moral lesson (i.e., without patronizing, or condescending the viewers, or otherwise trying to tell the viewers what to think)...or at least I think so, but I felt that this part came off as a little too preachy, even for 1980.

Also, the opening song, "Coming Up Christmas Time", previously appeared in "Casper's First Christmas"...which has Yogi not hibernating and is instead celebrating Christmas with the others. I know that Hanna-Barbera never really thought about continuity, but personally, I think this was one of several instances where the inconsistancies started becoming more noticeable...

In any case, I'll still watch, despite that one scene not really being one of my favorites...

I checked. MeTV Toons is running it on the 8th of November. So, there will be a couple of places to see it.

When they first aired it last year, it was close to Christmas proper, OPT logo intact.

In fact, that's when I found out that the OPT logo had a few outlines in the finished product, up until then, I thought it was a plain black background.

This is actually really cool. It reminds me of not having cable in the 2000s, and not knowing how to use the internet correctly to look up TV guide's and randomly channel surfing during holidays and seeing things like ABC airing the 1953 Peter Pan or seeing Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer or even How The Grinch Stole Christmas, not knowing that channels like ABC or WB (the CW), CBS and Fox would air holiday specials every year. Although, as other users have mentioned, MeTV Toons felt like the most logical place where this would air.

Keeping my eye out for this!

It's still going to air on MeTV Toons as well, but airing on The CW gives it much wider coverage considering The CW is pretty much on every Cable Provider and vMVPD streaming service and available Over-the-air in almost every TV market in the USA.

I don't have a TV or subscribe to many streaming services, if any. But this is one of those times that for nostalgia sake I'm willing to buy a small TV and antenna just to watch it OTA like I used to. Or maybe subscribe to a cheaper alternative. I know I can easily watch it online but it feels I guess cozier in front of a TV with commercial breaks and specific ads created for that moment.

I'm glad that both CW and MeTV Toons is airing this.

The signal is still digital. Its not analog. If you wanted to experience with an old tv, you should know how to properly set it up.

There are still younger "purists" of OTA digital nowadays, especially in a server I'm in

During Wild Cards tonight I saw The CW holiday promo had a short clip of Yogi Bear at the end. They did also advertise Grandma Got Run By A Reindeer airing for next week with a Promo and on screen Pop Up. I don't remember them doing that for last Friday's broadcast. Hopefully they will give Yogi Bear a promo too when we get closer to the broadcast.

Reminder: Yogi's First Christmas will be airing on The CW tomorrow night. Who else is watching?

I saw they kept the Operation Prime Time logo at the beginning intact.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
