I'm surprised their isn't a thread for a rising power in the world of anime streaming. I had a lot of fun with Seven Deadly Sins and Ajin and enjoyed what I've seen of Kuromukuro so far. I even found Glitter Force to be damn cute enough to be a (very) guilty pleasure. Haven't seen Knights of Sidonia or Magi: Legend of Sinbad yet. Anyway, I think there should be a thread for discussing news items related to Netflix anime, like when is season 2 of Ajin coming out?

I wouldn't exactly call them "Netflix Originals." Netflix had no part in the production of these shows, which were already developed before Netflix began streaming them. If they did make an original, it would probably be in collaboration between Japan and the US, just like they did with IGPX or Batman Gotham Knight.

I know they weren't produced by Netflix, but they are advertised as "Netflix originals" and put in the Netflix originals section. Essentially, being a "Netflix original" anime means you can't be on Crunchyroll or any other streaming service.

And it also involves paying extra to buy out the American broadcast rights, so it won't air on US television. They've done that with several cartoons to, like the new Inspector Gadget and Danger Mouse cartoons.

Okay, but weren't Danger Mouse and Inspector Gadget actually commissioned by Netflix? I think the new Voltron was.

It'll be a little more "original" when Netflix actually commissions an anime to be made...I think.

Voltron is part of a content deal between Netflix and Dreamworks Animation. The other two were made for TV broadcast in the UK and Canada. Inspector Gadget was actually going to air in the US on Cartoon Network, before Netflix picked it up.

Nope, Danger Mouse was commissioned by the BBC, where the show airs in the UK.

I still haven't heard any news on that one since February. It may be a long time, like the gap between the announcement of Attack on Titan season 2 and the actual release date.

At any rate, the anime debuting in the US on Netflix I tend to rewatch every now and then is Little Witch Academia. The series, and while they were on, the two OVA.

Ironically I checked out The Owl House cause of similarities of it mentioned, but I would definitely recommend it on the flipside.

I really enjoyed the Terminator anime, it's the best thing to come out of that franchise since 1991.

It is described as, "It presents a new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077— a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge.

When the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?"

From the looks of it from the teaser trailer one of the main characters in Edgerunners 2 is a media indicating they may be leaning on the TTRPG harder.

"Netflix And Kyoto Animation Present Sparks Of Tomorrow"

sparks-of-tomorrow-netflix.jpg

"Netflix announced another partnership with a respected animation studio today. The next anime from Kyoto Animation, the team responsible for Clannad, K-On!, and Violet Evergarden among others, will debut their next project, Sparks Of Tomorrow, on the service next July.

The announcement was accompanied by the first trailer, which has some spiffy animation but unfortunately is not subtitled in any way. You can turn on YouTube’s auto-translate, but you won’t get far with sentences like “Kihatsu is someone who will bring about an era of weather in the future!” Fortunately there’s a synopsis to explain the real plot…."

And here's the trailer:
