MGM Cartoons version differences discussion

Anyone know the origin of that odd version of "The Bowling Alley Cat" Boomerang's been showing with the 60s lion at the beginning?

It's probably the "remastered" print from the Tom and Jerry: Golden Collection Vol. 1, in witch they a used faded Eastmancolor source (hence the 60's lion, witch was used to remove the Technicolor credit).

So this is sort of like how Italian channels air the Tom and Jerry shorts, I suppose

Similar list, I have done for pre-1948 LT/MM shorts, which were aired with Polish dubbing on Canal+ (actually for 213 from 233 found by me)

I was able to do it with Tom and Jerry (and my post has mistakes I have to fix) because the Italia 1 versions are very recognizable. I mean not only by the quality but even by those translated title cards.

With Looney Tunes I noticed the quality of the Italia 1 versions match the audio filters on the Boomerang versions but I need more material. They haven't aired yet all the Porky and Daffy stuff.

I updated my post fixing most of my mistakes.

So, in the Spotlight Collection they couldn't find the original Mammy audio ONLY on the tape which has Saturday Evening Puss, Sleepy Time Tom and Push Button Kitty. They remastered the audio of the first and used the audio of older prints on the other two (you can hear static noise in the background). The original Mammy audio of this tape does exist, as proven in Saturday Evening Puss in the Japanese dub version.

The original Mammy audio for shorts like Nit Witty Kitty and such actually belongs to the Turner prints.

Wow, this thread is really thorough. Maybe somebody should put a wiki together documenting all this stuff. I think it's important for preservation of history.

I remember seeing another Turner print NTSC tape that actually started with Flirty Birdy, including some Chuck Jones shorts, and missing The Egg and Jerry, Busy Buddies, Tops with Pops, Feedin' the Kiddie, Tom's Photo Finish and other Chuck Jones' shorts that I don't really remembered. I used to get the disc covering the Turner Prints in that particular order, but it's divided in multiple parts. What I remembered so far was ordered below:

Fraidy Cat
Baby Butch
Johann Mouse
Pet Peeve
The Mouse in H. U. N. G. E. R.
The Dog House
Baby Butch
The Zoot Cat
Puss Gets the Boot
Midnight Snack
Dog Trouble
Puss 'n Toots
The Bowling-Alley Cat
Is There a Doctor in the Mouse?
Yankee Doodle Mouse

And a different order I also remembered

Muscle Beach Tom
Blue Cat Blues
Barbecue Brawl
Purr-Chance to Dream
Timid Tabby
Happy Go Ducky
Royal Cat Nap
The Vanishing Duck
Matinee Mouse
Robin Hoodwinked
Tots Watcher
The Flying Sorceress

Any idea for the name of the disc I was talking about? Thanks in advance

That's the Japanese DVD collection from the early 2000s.

Earlier the same shorts came out on Laserdisc and VHS.

The current version of "Sorry Safari" that Boomerang USA airs has sound added during the gag where Tom goes deaf.

"Mouse for Sale" and "Pup on a Picnic" were 1953 productions that sat on the backlog until they were released in 1955. By using my list above, it would seem that "Touché, Pussy Cat!" is the first T&J to have the symbol.

Speaking of "Pup on a Picnic," it was produced simultaneously in both CinemaScope and Academy aspect ratios, like so many films of the period, and strangely enough, the former version retained the 1953 copyright, while also having the ® symbol on the MGM Cartoon logo. The Academy version had the MGM cartoon logo without the ® symbol.

Looking at an old CN promo from 1997, Daredevil Droopy had DVNR. The more recent airings do not however, and that copy is also censored. Now if I had a recording of the old one...

Honestly I didn't even know the existence of the Chuck Jones print of "Designs on Jerry" (well you all know the infamous segment of that episode that's used in Shutter Bugged Cat). And surprisingly the colors in that print are pretty much the same as in the segment (IDK if it's true or not because it's VHS-ripped from the Volume 8 UK version). And for some reasons they actually play with NTSC sound and speed instead.
Has any where else ever broadcasted this version on television before?

There's something about seeing kids cry after they mess up big time that really gets to me. One can definitely feel bad for Layla.
