"DuckTales" (2017) Series Talkback (Spoilers)

Somebody must have been a Teen Titans fans to pick up both Hynden Walch and Greg Cipes for the two main mermaids :p.

I often think that this show is like a hybrid of Teen Titans (2003-2006) and Iron Man: Armoured Adventures in terms of its storylines. For example, the F.O.W.L. arc reminds me of the Brotherhood of Evil and the Della arc reminded me of the Howard Stark arc in IM:AA. I think Matt Youngberg worked on Teen Titans, so some of this is not at all that surprising.

I am not your pal. Frankly, I don't know why you address other members on the board this way either. It is universally considered sarcastic and disrespectful. I decided to wait to bring it up until you addressed me that way. But it's freaking rude and I've cringed every time you've said that to someone else. Knock it off.

Well, maybe it's because english is not my native language, and by how the word "pal" is translated in my language, it doesn't seem like something disrespectful. So I'm sorry if I misused a word I simply considered working in friendly conversations.

That was not a corporate decision, i.e. one involving licensing fees and tie-ups. That also involved a large letter-writing campaign to save the series. Are you expecting people to put in that same amount of time and effort to give the Rescue Rangers a bigger guest-starring role on this show? Because that's a foolish expectation.

I don't expect a big thing, but even although this is a series orientated to the new generations, "old timers" would like to see their favourite characters to have relatively enough screentime, similar to how Spider-Man debuted on "Captain America: Civil War".

Do you actually think a basic cable DuckTales cartoon has the same amount of influence on boardroom decisions as the Sony / Marvel MCU movie partnership does? Because it really doesn't.

Like I said although this series is for new generations, nostalgia is a very profitable business. "Ducktales" is a classic in Disney Television Animation, so a lot of "old timers" would like to see something that they grew up with, and they could introduce it better to new generations.

This part of your post is actually true. The producers of this show are notorious liars. But I don't think that is something a sane producer would lie to the fans about. It would destroy their credibility.

Not exactly. If they guy talks in a Comic Con or something like that, he has to be honest; but online, in the digital era, it's freely up to everyone to trick people with anything. That's why you can't believe EVERYTHING online. Some things?, sure. But not ALL.

You're forgetting that the episodes for the season (and likely the series) are already written and mostly animated. That isn't something an animated show can shove in at the last minute.

No, I'm not forgetting it. When they make a movie, tv special or anything, they show it to a "selected audience" to see their reactions; before making it public. When they did this episode, they surely showed to some kids (and "not so kids") to see their reactions. If they saw "old timers" and "kids" liked the appearances of the Rescue Rangers then, that could have made Disney allowed them to use the Rescue Rangers in two or three more episodes. They may can't abuse the use of the Rescue Rangers, but they could gain access to them for a couple of episodes.

You are forgiven for not knowing the subtext of "Pal" if English is not your first language.

This is not true at all. TV shows don't do that. At least American ones don't.

It was years ago, but I believe they actually do it. It's like those old sitcoms made with an audience seeing the filmations.

That was to test Pilots for potential network pick-ups. They don't do it for established shows for fear of spoilers leaking out.

Like it or not, apparently there's always someone who dares to leak spoilers, even between the own personal who works in it. I have seen cases in the past, so there's no point in that.

By the way, it has been confirmed on twitter that Daisy wil debut in the next episode. There's a screenshot already, but I don't have the link. I guess Donald will start hi love story here, if he doesn't know Daisy from before.

What I'm saying is that's why they don't test screen established shows for the audience or fans. The Rescue Rangers are not going to appear again in a bigger role.

So Louie knows of this woman that has his families last name, and that is not a big deal. I guess Duck is a common last name in this world.

Those groups are comprised of people who are bigoted. I would not give them the time of day.

Yeah, the name Duck is probably like the name Smith or Jones! :)

So rewatching the "Lost Harp Of Minerva!", Della wanting to fire at the mermaids in the beginning, it is something Penumbla would do.

History will not look back kindly on One Million Moms.
More like One Million Witch Hunters, if you ask me.

Here's a sneak peek.
Oooh! Not only Jose Carioca and Panchito Pistoles is going to be in this episode, but Daisy Duck is going to be in this episode! YAY! :D

Yeah, that's Daisy :D.

I love how they set up this big "love at first sight" thing with Donald only for it to not happen :p.

I think it is love at first sight -- Donald just hasn't processed it yet. The glint in his eye meant something!

Well at the very least Donald is going to take it slow, and not be freaking insane when it comes to Daisy. I have seen other Donalds do insane things for Daisy, and not in a healthy way.

Yeah though there is a specific Duck family line in this world it's obvious Daisy in this universe is not apart of that. So I'm assuming it's like say the Sonic The Hedgehog world where people just have this common last name but aren't related at all (like how Sonic and Shadow The Hedgehog aren't related, nor Big and Blaze The Cat) so though a bit confusing at first something everyone in that world has just gotten used to.

Della did say that "Penny" reminded her of Donald but yeah looking at some other episodes (like this season premiere) it's clear she also has rage and aggression issues as well so I can see that being something they would have in common.

I do hope that they don't play it off like Donald becoming a love sick fool over Daisy and if they develop a relationship have it happen more naturally. Like they don't need to treat this like the old school cartoons and have Donald go over and out of his way for Daisy but still have them find a way to hook up as a couple.

I do have to say it's weird hearing Daisy in this show as honestly I'm used to hearing her more in Disney's House of Mouse or Mickey Mouse Works or those snippets of Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse I heard. And yeah in there like in this one she's voiced by Tress MacNeille who is Daisy's current official VA (thus also someone they couldn't recast) but this series obviously has a different vocal direction that does sound a bit more natural for the character which works well but again is an adjustment. Guess we'll see if she becomes more reoccurring in the future since yeah characters like say The Rescue Rangers would only work in minor cameos or showing up as part of the super large cast gatherings (that I'm sure we'll have at the end of this season like we did for "Moonvasion") but they could do more with Daisy. Again hopefully more then just replaying the old relationship the two had in the earlier cartoons.

Well even if Daisy appearance are limited, I hope there will be an episode in which she is not in, but Donald is texting her. That would be a good modern take on couples.

If Donald starts dating Daisy, love to see Scrooge's reaction giving his history with women, he might try to talk Donald out of it, than realizes the good times than maybe than backs off.
