But you haven't given a good reason WHY. It's right there in the show; Kurata's sniveling and the characters saying he's afraid of pain. His twittering about his hatred of Suguru and how Suguru kept holding him down. The fact that everything is about satisfying his ego. This IS apparent.

Then perhaps I just didn't like the way it was all used. I dunno, he just rubbed me the wrong way as a character/villain alot of the times. But this doesn't seem to be about him as much as it is about you not liking someone saying that Savers didn't do something 100% right. There were many things I liked about Savers, but I didn't find it all that awesome to be honest.

But what I really don't agree with is your insistance that the Royal Knights arc wasn't one big "Takuya and Koji stealing spotlight but getting their butts kicked" mess. Most of the "developments" for other characters you listed were pretty short and lame. The series finale with Lucemon was cool but I don't see how anyone could deny how tedious those episodes that came before it were.

The dub made it even worse. They Zoisited RhodoKnightmon, meaning turning the character from someone with a male effeminate voice to one with a female voice. Changed the nature of the Royal Knights relationship.

At least the Savers dub kept RhodoKnightmon as he really was, though they went a little overboard with his voice.

I've been rewatching Adventure 01, and I never noticed it before, and I'm surprised I didnt.

What the heck is Etemon's motivation?

I mean, even Devimon, Myotismon, and the Dark Masters had clear goals, simple though they may be. Etemon didn't seem to have...any. The Digidestined arrived on Server, and suddenly this crazy Elvis-like monkey, who somehow seems to know about all of their exploits, attacks them for absolutely no reason, chasing them through the desert. Why? I don't recall the dub ever mentioning him having any real beef with the Digidestined or any desire for world domination.

Oh, and I'm going to open up a can of worms here, but...am I the only Digimon fan who absolutely HATED Tamers?

For those who watched it back then, did anybody else think that Fox Kids' advertising during the first three seasons was incredibly spectacular?

I don't think that I would have been into Digimon as much as I was if there wasn't stuff like this flying around every day

It is still censorship. It was censorship when Dic turned Zoisite from a gay man to a really flat chested woman, it is censorship in this situation. Though maybe not as bad, as it didn't ruin one of the more beautiful romances between characters, as was the case with Zoisite and Kunzite.

I think Adventure is hands down better than all. I watched all 54 episodes and loved it, it was fresh, interesting and enjoyable.

With Zero Two...I enjoyed the entire Kaiser arc, but found many of the episodes after that point boring and repetitive. And I won't even TOUCH episode 50....I can barely make it through any episode post Oikawa's introduction. To quote a friend, "just go away, Oikawa. No one likes you."

I thought Tamers was a very interesting season, suitably darker than the previous two, and much more realistic. The previous two seasons were clearly written mostly with children in mind; this one took the concept to a new level with more mature concepts.

And Frontier....I'm a bit embarassed to admit I liked at least part of it, though I think it was second to 02 for the worst.

I never really have watched Savers, as I mostly haven't had the time. I do read online comparisons, though...

Foremost, I hated the characters. If you don't care about the characters, it's pretty hard to care about the show. Maybe I'm just shallow, but I prefer the confident, cocky, fun goggle boy over the whiny kid who cries at the drop of a hat. Then we have the goody goody who doesn't like Digimon fighting, the tough girl with the bad attitude, the awkward nerdy kid who has a flippin' MarineAngemon for a partner, the perfect boy with the personality of a brick, and the little girl who barely contributes anything. The only characters I honestly liked were Kazu and Jeri. Kazu had all of the confidence and personality that Takato lacked. I thought Jeri was absolutely adorable, and then she goes and has all the life sucked out of her toward the end of the series.

I also hated Super Jello--er, the D-Reaper. It was an interesting idea for a villain, but it bored me to no end.

Hoo boy, I know I'm going to catch heat for this one.

One thing that I think Digimon has over all other toyetic anime I've seen (minus Onmyo Taisenki's 52 episode single season of AWESOMENESS) is that it actually had an ending...er..endings that made each season feel complete. It didn't offer any of the issues I had with stuff like Pokemon that wouldn't end or the lesser popular series with not-as-adequate character development.

Basically, the fact that we can have conversations like this about it instead of wondering what could be really stands out for me.

Okay, I'll give you the character angle (though Rika is love. None shall disagree). I will admit Takato pissed me off at first too, but you can't doubt that he did get better. I kind of never considered any of the other characters as Digidestined (even though they were) since that angle just kind of...happened. Like "Okay, there's too many of these guys now. What's going on?"

I still think the D-Reaper was a very unique way for an anime such as this to go out on but it was....draggy.

That Henry's entire arc dealt with being a realistic pacifist rather than an idealistic with horribly unrealistic expectations?

The notion of "Takato pissed me off at first, but got better" makes me wonder if you actually enjoy protagonists having personalities that're different from Tai's.

If you recall, aside from getting the tags and crests, Gennai sent the kids to Server in order to "get rid of it's enemies." But still, as much as I did love him, Etemon was always more of a nussiance than a real threatening villain.

What? Zoisite HATED Nephrite; you're thinking of Kunzite. And I didn't think that romantic relationship was all that beautiful, simply because the manga writer never intended it. Zoisite and Kunsite were supposed to have a more brotherly relationship.

Oh no, you di'nt! I liked Oikawa alot myself and I've seen other digimon fans who do as well. He's even the favorite character of at least one. In fact, I liked all of his episodes better than I did that entire Arukenimon/Mummymon/BlackWarGreymon arc.

But I said he got better later. I mean, I thought that Takato was a bit whiny at first myself (though I thoroughly enjoyed his many antics that he went through with hiding Guilmon) but as the story went on I did enjoy watching him grow up into a real leader. Of course, I like protagonists having different personalities from Tai's. Masaru was pretty different from Tai...right? I'm not sure if that would count I just figure they've got two different angles to each other.

You know, about Henry, for some reason I can't remember the episodes dealing with his fear of making Terriermon evolve. I need to re-watch them.

As I said, I'm know I'm being shallow. I can see how people might find Takato's personality a refreshing change after the much more outgoing, zealous Tai and Davis, but I just don't care for that kind of personality. I definitely feel that the characters grew much more naturally in Tamers than any of the other Digimon series, but I still didn't care for them, even by the end of the series.

Etemon had his Dark Network across the continent, but all I can recall him doing is using it to track the Digidestined's movements, not actively try to conquer anything.

Plus, how did he know about the Digidestined in the first place? It was pretty clear the Dark Network was limited to Server.

No they didn't. Crusadermon was a girl but there was NOTHING to hint that there was anything romantic about them. In either version.

You know, to this day I still wonder why they made Renamon the "child" level.

Then again, Tailmon is the "adult" level so I'm guessing they like to screw with our heads like that (So many years for people to learn "No, Salmon is Child level, Tailmon's the Adult!")

Ahh I agree with everyone who said Digimon Tamers was the best Season. Terriermon, Renamon and Guilemon were the coolest.
