Thoughts on Digimon

Growing up I caught Digimon on Jetix/ABC family—mainly Adventure, Adventure 02, and Frontiers. I saw bits and pieces of Tamers, but Jetix didn't air it as much as the other seasons (after seeing Impmon's arc I understood why), and Data Squad I watched years later. I watched some of Fusion/Xros Wars for the brief time it aired on Nickelodeon, but I couldn't get into it. Tri helped me get back into the series and understand what really made if different from Pokemon.

I enjoyed Ghost Game. Haven't seen enough of Adventure 2020 or Appmon.

I used to see Rumble Arena 2, Digimon Racing, and World 4 in stores during the GCN, Xbox, and PS2 days, but I never played a Digimon game until I tried out a used copy of Digimon World Dusk (or Story Moonlight).

Now after playing the Cyber Sleuth series and especially Digimon Survive, I've been more interested in the video games than the anime series. I guess I'm just getting the Adventure fatigue and the video games are new stories that take inspiration from the older ones.

Can you please explain me why the English dub of the Digimon franchise, outside of the Adventure-related material, stopped at the second season of Fusion and didn't dub Appmon and Ghost Game? Was this because of Saban's demise or something?

Unfortunately the original season of Digimon seems to be removed from Hulu. I’m going to finish up the series by borrowing the DVD’s from the library.

Honestly, I can see how the anime is objectively better than Pokemon. It’s more mature, the stakes are higher, and there are more character development. I still would personally prefer to watch Pokemon, but I appreciate Digimon more than I did before.

Real minor nitpick, but I wish they called “digi-volving” something like “upgrading”. It fits more with the digital theme, helps it differentiate itself from Pokémon more, and it makes it easier to understanding them going backwards.

The Arabic dub did, but only after a really embarrassing incident where they had the digimon call their stronger more powerful siblings whenever they evolved.

You did catch on to the fact Japanese just used Evolution (Shinka) so Digi Volving is only an excuse weasel word to make it less of a "Pokemon Ripoff."

Yeah they removed at the start of the month, lot of Toei stuff is gone from there. They had just Hulu added to Disney Plus a couple months ago too.

It's apparently, back on Hulu the first few series that were on there before

I've noticed that the English dub of Digimon Ghost Game is on BBC iPlayer (it was added in December). I've just watched the first episode. Really odd that this hasn't aired in the U.S.

It tends to be a habit of UK free streaming services for not giving much promotion to anime, but its really odd for the BBC to buy the rights to anime (Pokémon Horizons, One Piece, and Dragon Ball Super are on iPlayer too) considering that up until recently they've been very avoidant when it comes to anime.

The BBC is holding the torch of UK children's TV, they pretty much have no more real UK competition so they can go in. Nice to see there is now a dub of Ghost Game. Sony's (Ironic) channels used to be the home of Pokémon and stuff, Digimon GG would have ended up there if they weren't mostly gone.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
