Considering how long it typically takes them to dub a series, I don't think that they'd want to put the time, money and effort into a simuldub, especially when they didn't do that for the Digimon Adventure reboot.
Anyway, I've seen the first three episodes and they were pretty good. The first episode does some interesting setup with the world. I know that its set in the future, but it's a lot more technologically advanced than I thought it would be with everyone having these e-pluse from birth apparently and a Sapotama device too. It does make it so that practically anyone can get their own Digimon since these are basically the stand-in for Digivices. I kind of like Tomoro's design. Giving him glasses instead of goggles helps to make him distinct from other leads and being a drummer is pretty cool too.
Digimon being created from Sapotama devices is pretty cool. It gives off a bit of a Tamers vibe with Tomoro effectively creating his own Digimon. I wasn't sure about Gekkomon's design at first, but it has grown on me a bit. He certainly has personality. The chase scene with the wild Digimon was pretty intense and of course, the older brother was taken out before he could tell his younger brother the truth. A character says that they'll explain everything later is a big red flag. Gekkomon wanting to eat Tomoro's e-pluse, but still protecting him was still nice. I was surprised that it didn't lead to Gekkomon evolving into his Champion form.
The second episode was pretty good too. While the other cast member were able to help save Tomoro, they didn't leave the best first impression on me, although I think more so for Reina than anyone else. Tomoro just went through a huge stressful experience, thought that his brother was dead and everyone was just not bothering to explain anything to him. Instead, they just treated everything was normal, had breakfast and didn't do anything to really help him. That made me so angry. That is a terrible way to handle someone grieving. To be fair, these are from what I can tell teenagers, so I wasn't expecting them to be completely gentle with Tomoro or know what exactly to say, especially when we don't know their backstories yet. Maybe their thought process was to feed Tomoro first instead of dealing with everything else, but it just left a bad first impression for me.
There was some interesting setup with the goverment basically taking Digimon for anyone who doesn't want them. It does make me wonder what they do with both the Digimon and the people who gave them up, especially when somehow Digimon aren't more well known despite these attacks going on for such awhile. I kind of figured that Tomoro's brother was still alive. There are permanent deaths in this franchise, but not a lot of human ones and certainly not in the first episode. Since he knew about the Glowing Dawn group and more about Tomoro's e-pluse, this was just a way to put him on the sidelines until Tomoro is able to save him near the end of the series or whenever it's more dramatically convienent. But he is still effectively gone for now and with their parents not being present, he was the only family for Tomoro.
Kyo bringing up being a Cleaner to get more information and chances to save Asuka without mentioning some key details also kind of bothered me. I understand why that didn't happen. They wanted a bit of action to show why Tomoro can't just go on his own, but considering that he let Tomoro run off on his own, it still bothered me. At least they did save him from other Cleaner. The fact that anyone with a Digimon that isn't with a Cleaner becomes a criminal does give off a bit of a Savers vibe too. Characters could only keep their Digimon after joining their organization in that series too. I did really like Kyo encouraging Tomoro to eat for now so that he could keep living. That really clicked with me and give him a better impression than the hosptial scene did for me.
The third episode was pretty good too. Given that Tomoro was thrown into this role and world all of a sudden and is still grieving over his brother, I couldn't really blame him for not trusting Gekkomon. He's probably still processing things when it's probably been just a couple of days in-universe. Getting intel on another bounty, but then dimissing it because it wasn't high enough doesn't make Reina look that good. I know that they needed money for more food after Gekkomon ate a lot of their supplies, but considering that Tomoro wanted to save that girl from the first episode, not telling him the truth and choosing to focus more on the money was a poor choice. Reina does change her mind when the bounty goes up, but they also emphasize that she was just looking for an excuse to go help him. My tolernance for tsundare nonsense must be getting low. Either that or it's not a good first impression of the female lead.
The Mirror World is interesting. They've shown it before, but without a name. It does make me wonder if this is the stand-in for the Digital World since Digimon are created differently in this universe or the different name means that we'll eventually get a proper Digital World later on in the series. Fangmon had a really cool design and considering how strong it was before, I was kind of surprised that it wasn't already a Champion level Digimon. Transforming into Gekkomon because its someone dear to Tomoro felt like a bit of a stretch. It isn't like I couldn't buy into their bond. Gekkomon did save Tomoro in the first episode, he has been following him all this time and given that he doesn't have any family to connect with, I can believe that he does feel some connection with Gekkomon, even if he doesn't fully recognzie it yet. It just might be a bit too early to say that Gekkomon is someone dear to him.
Their plan to trick Fangmon was pretty smart. I was still expecting an evolution for Gekkomon, but they're probably saving that for when their bond is more fleshed out or in a more dramatic moment. For a moment, I thought that they were going for a Dark Evolution, which would be an interesting choice to show that before a proper evolution. After everything Tomoro went through, saw what happens to those whose e-pluses are drainned, I could understand why he'd want to delete this dangerous Digimon, but making the Glowing Dawn the only Cleaners that don't do that does make sense. I'm sure that there will be more of an explaination as to why down the road, but comparing them to glitches does fit with Tomoro's flashbacks earlier in the episode. The girl was saved and showed that people can be cured of the Cold Heart condition. Tomoro finally calling Gekkomon by his name instead of lizard was a cute way of showing that they are starting to become friends and that Tomoro is starting to trust him too.
