"The first trailer for the animated TV adaptation of Kureha’s The Ogre’s Bride (Oni no Hanayome) light novel series. Originally announced in June 2025, the series will premiere sometime in 2026.
The story is summarized as such:
In a world where humans and supernatural creatures (ayashiki) live side by side in harmony, some of the ayashiki take human women as brides. These young women supposedly bring prosperity to the ayashiki clans. In return the women receive both absolute devotion from their magical new husbands and admiration from other humans.
Yuzu Shinonome, an ordinary high school student, lives in the shadow of her popular younger sister Karin. The girls’ parents dote on Karin due to her being chosen as the bride of a fox spirit, and in turn neglect Yuzu. Things become even more strained for Yuzu when her boyfriend Yamato unceremoniously dumps her to pursue Karin, despite knowing the younger sister is already engaged. When a squabble between the sisters leads to Karin’s fiancee attacking Yuzu, the older girl flees her home both injured and on the brink of total despair. At her lowest point, Yuzu has a fateful encounter with a beautiful young man at a bridge. This man, Reiya Kiryuuin is a representative of the most powerful clan in the world of the ayashiki. He dramatically declares that Yuzu is his bride, and this seemingly unloved girl finds her life forever changed."
