"DuckTales" (2017) Series Talkback (Spoilers)

What I'm saying is that's why they don't test screen established shows for the audience or fans. The Rescue Rangers are not going to appear again in a bigger role.

Unless you have access to secret info about the production, you can't be sure about anything, just like any of us. In Season 1, in the first episode, I had suspictions about the crossovers because in the very first episode, they mentioned the cities of St Canard ("Darwing Duck"), Cape Suzette ("TaleSpin") and Spoonerville ("Goof Troop"). I never dreamed they would go that far, and who would know it? I was wrong.

I don't know their role, but I'm convinced the Rescue Rangers will return; even if it's just to make references to all those old shorts of Donald having conflicts with Chip and Dale.

I'm conflicted. While I think the one thing this show does better than Barks and Rosa is having strong female characters, I also don't think the Ducks should ever be about 'ships. So while I love these strong women as much as you guys do, I'm resisting the idea of romances very strongly.

It's Donald and Daisy we are talking about. There's going to be love, but not romance. And if they want to be loyal to comics, their ship can actually work. Because in a relationship between two hot-tempered ducks is how they give us Donald and Della. (Their parents met just like that in the comics, as they fell in love after showing exploding temper to each other).

As far as I see, their relationship could be like in "Quack Pack". I mean, they worked together and they were usually busy, but they showed affection for each other at proper times. Besides, now that Della is back, Donald doesn't have to be the triplets' faternal figure so much, so that leaves him a little "empty" of purpose. Gaining a love interest is a way to compensate it.

Another proof of their relationship having place is the fact that Donald didn't know her until now, while they already know each other in other series and they know what to expect from the other. Seeing the origin of this classic ship and how it came to be?, it sounds interesting!

If the series finale includes a Donald / Daisy wedding, I won't be complaining. I don't know if they be allowed to do that, but that is almost as big as Mickey and Minnie tying the nod.

Please, my friend, as much as I would like to see something like that, we have to be reasonable. That's is not going to happen, just like we will probably never meet Goofy's wife and Max's mom. And neither Della's husband and the triplets' dad.

I have access to common sense and knowing how television production actually works. Chip and Dale will not be returning, at least not in a larger role (a screen shot cameo with all of the other Disney Afternoon characters in the last episode is not out of the question) and none of their cartoons with Donald will be referenced. I'll bet you a Hot Pocket on it (loser has to eat one).

If that happened I'd buy a gun and shoot my TV. :P

DuckTales "Louie's Eleven!"

Where do I begin?

I suspect many people will assume I outright hated that. I don't. I feel a lot of it was wrong for the Duck franchise but there were certain aspects I decided I can live with.

I tend to give this show bad reviews so I'll start out commenting on the bad stuff first, and work my way up to the good stuff to leave a more positive impression than usual.

But the stuff with the nephews continues to be infuriating. I not only disagree with the writers that the nephews need distinct personalities, but I especially disagree that those personalities need to be repellent for contrast. It's something I am very unhappy about.

Donald making a reference to John McClane's mothereffer line from Die Hard also strikes me as utterly wrong for this franchise.

Now the biggie: The first appearance of Daisy Duck in DuckTales ever. I have been very clear how much I think ships hurt the Duck franchise. And yet for some reason the idea that Daisy is the only person who can perfectly understand Donald and finds his voice beautiful, is an incredibly wonderful and powerful notion. To be clear, this is completely inconsistent with her comic book portrayal, not the least of which because Donald has a normal voice there and everyone can understand him. But if Donald has an ugly voice, the notion that Daisy thinks it is lovely IS romantic and beautiful. If they HAD to do a ship with these specific characters, I am glad they gave it a unique twist that the audience could enjoy and appreciate.

Random notes:

Robin Atkin Downes is credited as Robin Atkin Downer in the end credits which is a bit embarrassing.

And Falcon looked from Beaks to Glamour and Glamour to Beaks and could no longer tell the difference.

Gizmoduck should have been the Eleventh, not Manny. Am I crazy for being disappointed by that?

I had reservations going in, and to be clear there are a few things I didn't like. But I liked it more than I thought I would. ***1/2.

I loved this episode, I honestly really liked how portrayed Daisy is in this show (and how absolutely beautiful she is), Donald's song was really great and the cinematography of the said song was fantastically well done.

Louie's Eleven

I loved this episode. This is the best way I could have hoped for, for Daisy's introduction and the beginning of Donald and Daisy's relationship. Daisy her self is wonderful. Yes she is a little feisty, but she has a good heart. And I love how she has no problem understanding Donald, something even his own family has trouble doing. Just shows you they are meant for each other.

I find it cute, that the thing that seals the deal for Donald, is seeing Daisy has a temper as feisty as him. And Daisy independent woman trying to achieve her own dreams, she is not the gold digger she has been in the past. While a lot of things in this show is influenced by Carl Barks, this is the anti Barks Daisy, that is for sure.

As for the rest of the episode, poor Graves, he can't get away from Mark Beaks and his family. If I am him, no rule no anonymous clients. It has not worked out for him. Speaking of Beaks, so meet his mother, now it makes sense. Why he is such an attention hog, and so itching for approval. He has mommy issues. And does it connect him more to Fenton / Gizmoduck in that we have seen their mothers on the show. I smell a good mother's day plot. If anything more reason to be jealousy of Fenton.

So than I thought the weak part of this plot was Louie and Dewey bickering. They are both annoying to me, I wasn't really on anybody's side here.

And just me, or Gabby talking about her mother while fighting Webby is just hammering home what Webby's arc is going to be about this season, if last episode wasn't clear enough, Webby is going to look into who her parents are, I can't wait for that.

Though they didn't get much to do, Jose and Panchito are great as always. And they got the guard to be their drummer, I wonder Panchito in the long run able to charm her.

All and all this was a great episode, I am interested to see Daisy meet the family, the "you have kids" line was priceless, yes she talked to Dewey and Louie kind of, but really I want to see more of Daisy interacted with Donald's family, I am sure we will get that.

What I'm going to say is going to out me as a newbie to the Duck universe, as I don't read the comics, but I'm doing it anyway, because I can.

As much as I'm keeping up with this show because of how good it is, the whole Donald / Daisy thing here is scaring me aplenty. Donald IS married to Della, right? RIGHT?? R-I-G-H-T???

Donald and Della aren't sexually attracted to / truly in love with each other, despite having 3 kids, aren't they? Then why did they have kids at all?!

The only excuse I can think of is that Donald had to move on with his life, because Della wasn't there anymore until she came back, but other than that... I don't think Donald should be hitting on Daisy when he's still married to Della, if that is true, now should he?!!

Excuse me, but Donald is coming off like, as much as I hate to say it, kind of an infidel here, unless someone can properly explain to me why him hitting on Daisy is ok, when it clearly isn't, at first glance, because WHAT ABOUT DELLA.

I feel like I'm having a stroke, here... But that's not it at all. I know it isn't.

Della is Donald's twin sister. He is the nephews' uncle. Their father is somebody else.

Respectful disagree there. Don Rosa as a big film buff always filled his stories with movie references, so I don't think those are out of place in Duck stories.

A minor character in this episode I do want to mention, Jane. Just me or is Jane a lot like Gloria from Big City Green, they are almost the same character.

This was such a cute episode! But I have to admit, the more I watch this show, the more Dewey starts to annoy me. I get it, he’s got hardcore middle child syndrome, but he’s so darn obnoxious and it feels like his scenery chewing is just there to add some filler. I don’t blame Louie for yelling at him to stop showboating. And for a season that’s supposed to be more Huey-focused, he sure has only played a major role in 1 episode so far (Quack Pack DID have him point out the weirdness, but Donald instigated it). Which is sad because he’s the only triplet that isn’t that annoying to me.

And before ANYONE says that “they’re kids, of course they’re annoying” let me just say that that argument has become more of a way for kid characters to dodge criticism. Folks won’t bat an eye at kids fighting deadly monsters, getting trapped in dangerous situations or handling crazy weapons that adults would be terrified of, but as soon as they act mean, annoying or do something dumb, suddenly it’s “they’re only 11-12, they’re gonna make mistakes!”

It was nice to see Daisy. I know this show has a no shipping thing (doesn’t stop ME though), but I’d be fine if she and Donald were the only exception. They’ve got nice chemistry, plus she’s got a fashion thing going on, so if she’s in future episodes, it won’t always involve her relationship with Donald so she can be a character instead of just a love interest.

I had a hunch the It List lady was Mark’s mom. Blog-savvy, makes things trendy...being the same bird species, sounds like Mark’s mommy to me.

Overall, this was a nice episode. I wish Dewey wasn’t so shoved in, but hey, we got Daisy. Hopefully not a cameo like Goofy.

Something I just noise, when Donald and Daisy are in that elevator suit and Donald sees what is going on at the party, he yells "My kids", "my kids", not "my boys", so that means Webby one of his kids? Oh Donald you softie.

I loved "Louie's Eleven!" It was such a romp. Not much to say about it right now, other than that I loved the score, as well as the way in which the Eleven were gradually unveiled -- and also, the character interactions (Daisy/Donald and Louie/Huey) were great!

Not surprised that Della was absent, though I imagine that we'll see her in the next episode to feature Daisy.

A quick aside about F.O.W.L. -- I have noticed that some fans have expressed confusion online regarding the absence of F.O.W.L. in last week's episode ("The Lost Harp of Mervana!"), but it's worth keeping in mind that people may be reading too much into Bradford's "Then the race is on" line. We don't have enough context to know exactly what sort of race Bradford was referring to -- it might just be the Duck Family in the race while F.O.W.L. sits back and allows them to busy themselves.

Thank you & also, I'm so sorry for not better paying attention to that - I succumbed to lack of research (and secretly, maybe a brain-frying type of stroke.). Thanks for the getting me up to speed here. Now I'm rooting for Donald to find happiness - hopefully so.

Speaking of Della, I wonder how Donald would react, even more so how would Huey, Dewey, and Louie react, if Della started dating Jose or Panchito.
