Zoids

What is it with Zoids and Williams Street anyway? This is the sort of jerking around we're used to seeing from WB, Fox, etc. Why wouldn't you simply air Chaotic Century, Guardian Force and Zero in proper episode order for two or three times, and then resting it for a while before another go-round? From what I've heard, interest in Zoids has been steadily rising in this country (when Pokemon was slipping out of the top ranks for Internet site hits, Zoids had risen to take its place), and a half-decent programming strategy could have made the show a megahit. Instead, they put on the Zoids sequel before the main series, leaving readers of Viz Comics and the Anime Encyclopedia scratching their heads as to why the Zoids they were describing was nothing like the TV show (and they did it suddenly with little promotional buildup, and then continued to run the same 26 episodes again and again into the ground). Then they show Chaotic Century and Guardian Force in a different time slot, a fringe time slot (which they shove over a half hour part-way through), and then cut it off right at the conclusion. I can only ask why? What possible sense could there be in playing these kinds of games, which only seem a calculated effort at dissipating the show's appeal? Especially since planet Zi has a rich backstory that seems to hold promise for endless sequels, moreso than Pokemon, Sailor Moon and Dragonball, and rivaling Gundam? Why bother to snatch Zoids out from under Fox's nose if you're going to do the show no more justice than Fox would have done?

True.... They're not really giving it much of a chance at all putting it in that kind of timeslot.... :( And (IMO) it's three times better that Zoids Zero! I mean, come on!

Do not compare Zoids to Gundam. That is like comparing Transformers to War and Peace. It dosen't have the same intellectual impact.

You're absolutely right, but zoids (both series) have their intelligent moments. More than DB/Z in my opinion. I think the reason the two get compared is because since Gundam has no longer aired, Toonami is lacking a mech series. We have no gundams or big Os to fill the void left by the Gundam's disappearance.

Zoids has been treated rather shabbily, and I don't understand why. Chaotic Century seems like a perfect show for Toonami, more so than Thundercats. CC has been given the worst time slot, then a WORSE time slot (they moved from 6:30 to 6 remember) and now CN won't even show the end of the series. I honestly can't think of a good reason for CN/WS to treat a good series like this.

I think the richness of Planet Zi's backstory is very comparable to the Federation and the colony sides. That's not to say that Zoids has come up with any series comparable to Gundam. But then Zoids has had only two storylines and three seasons in total so far, compared to Gundam's dozen or two, unlike Gundam the depth of its universe has hardly been plumbed. Gundam even has alternate universes and couple comedy series to Zoid's lone comic series.

Zoids will become the next Gundam with a dozen more series or continuities... or they have series to connect Zero with CC-GF. IF they keep the storyline good ie CC/GF and some comedy Z/Zero

I would love to see zoids become as big as Gundam I actual
like Zoids alittle bit better.

I don't think anybody ('cept for this Indilent guy) is trying to say that Zoids CC is better than Gundam; rather, just that it's similar. A war between two sides, neither of which is necesarily "bad," folks get caught in the middle; then when peace comes there are those who still bear a grudge and try to start trouble. It's really just two different but similar epic storylines.

I peronaly like Zoids better then Gundam, But Argree yet
never as big as Gundam :(

I think that, well Gundam has a lot of philoshiphy and political talk that actually makes sense to back up the mech battles. (Newtypes, the evolution of mankind, or Ancient Zodians, the cliche ancient race) Plus Char could kill Bit or Van any day of the week. :D

Who could Char not Kill in a battle. Somethings make sence
in Gundam somethings don't. I was real confused at the
last three episodes in 0083. But I think 8th MS Team is the
best Gundam I have seen.

I don't think Williams St. is to blame for what has happened to Zoids, just CN. For the most part Zoids has aired during Toonami and Zoids:CC/GF has not aired at all during Toonami. Williams St. likely only has the power to schedule episodes within their own blocks and even then they likely do not always have full power over even that.

If the whole dubbing thing is true, then it's really out of everyone's hands.

no they didnt i saw the whole saga of classics. they never show zoid eve

Here's the info on why they are going to rereuns. CN has not finished the last four espiodes. They barely got them in the begining of may. So with all the editing and mixing, it going to take a couple of weeks. I love this show , because I personaly don't like to wake up at 7:00 am to watch a cartoon. They better show it soon because I didn't watch the show for two months, just so they can rerun it when it getting to the good part.

Zeke, meet Guilemon

Haven't finished dubbing the last 4 eps you say?

That's funny. Digimon Tamers had to rerun last week because a similar thing had happened (last 4 eps were still being dubbed over). However, we are indeed getting the series finale in 2 weeks from now, and they only teased/annoyed us with a mere two eps instead of the KidsWB-like mixing of eps like we're getting now.

Arguably there are two differences in the situation:

1)Time. Forgetting about the reruns aired on ABCFam for now, Digimon and Zoids have very different timeslots to deal with: While Zoids:CC is stuck in its horrid 6:00-6:30 AM limbo and forced to air once a day (5 times a week), Digimon has been blessed with having to only air twice on Saturday mornings, snuggled between Wild Force, Medabots and Mon Colle Knights. This gives the dubders a weekday to work with rather than a weekend.

2) One is Fox and one is CN. While Fox is notorious for mistreatment of Japan imports in the past, Digimon has been one of the lucky few Animes to survive with but a few proverbial scratches and bruises and has even had scenes unscathed that woul've been removed otherwise in Toonami or even ASA (the Beelzebumon ordeal comes to mind). CN, even with their superior track record, is far from being perfect: With the pressure they had to just show the thing, its no surprise that deadlines have been a tad on the tight side. A shame, too-so far Zoids:CC (and Zoids/Zero before it) seem to have been handled quite nicely dub-wise, with few hardly noticeable edits scattered here and there.

What irony-the FOX has outdone the Cartoon Network hound.

Digimon Tamers not done? Eh? Wasn't that one already in the can completely when it ran on Fox months ago?

Or are they airing Season 4 already and nobody told me?

Yeah Buddy, It's called Digimon Scanners. They use these scanners to fuse with there digimon. Or become Digimon. But I am not sure about that. It started in Japan around March or April. Just wanted to help you out, now back to Zoids.

Bart: Wow! God is so in your face.
Homer: Yea, he's my favorite fictional character.

That's intresting

Looking through Zoid reruns, I found an episode where remnants of Prozan's forces steal two ultra-powerful storm sorter Zoids to raise the ideals of Prozan back to life. Then I saw the first episode of Gundam 0083. The only difference is that a green rookie didn't get the other Zoid.

I have another theory as for why Johnny Bravo is neglected by CN nowadays. Putting aside the basic concept, it's the retools that made the show chaotic.
I might be the only one who cares but why is Scooby Doo basically unavailable everywhere? Netflix has only Mystery Inc and the two James Gunn movies. Tubi has What's New and Where Are You. Meanwhile HBO Max has basically nothing. I've been itching to watch the classic Scooby Doo direct to video movies lately and they're nowhere to be found outside of purchasing them on sites like YouTube.
Last night started watching a new adult animated series, a Netflix original that is basically the succesor to Big Mouth.

What is so great? Despite being a 18+ show, they actually bothered to give it a Romanian dub :ack::eek:
