Worst theater experience

I'd have to say one of my worst theatre experiences was in Hong Kong. Went to an old Golden Harvest Theatre somewhere in the Shatin area near my uncle's place. The screen would be pretty impressive if it was a home theatre but for a movie-going experience, it was ridiculously small. I'd say it was about 50-60 inch screen. The audio was barely passable and there weren't alot of seats. Oh, and people talk on their cell phones too often. It's especially distracting on such a small screen like that.

Movie screens in Hong Kong are generally small. Haven't gone around all the theatres over there but I think only the screens at Plaza Hollywood (near the Diamond Hill MTR station) was pretty decent. Plus, they occasionally have authentic costumes from the screened movies on display which is pretty nifty.

BTW how's that Cinemark dump in Clackamas working out for you?
Based on my experiences there it gets to be pretty popular. Then again, it has also been a while since I've actually gone to see a movie in the theater. The mall remodel seems to help bring in some business.

Sorry, but if you talk in a theater you deserve it.
He said he WHISPERED to his brother though. It was the lady he said spoke a little louder, and that's not good. I talked about a couple sitting behind me talking when we were watching Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, and how they didn't even whisper, but talked fairly audibly. They didn't exactly shout, but they didn't even make much of an effort to lower their voices. They were like the kids in the theater who talked at those times when I went to see the Harry Potter movies I saw. (Refer to #6.) That's why I vowed never to watch any HP movies in theaters again.

That lady got hers, anyway. She had to watch Green Lantern.

The couple making out loudly on the floor would rank at the top my list. Though the guy at the Return of the King premiere with a laser pointer who made Gandalf cast a spell every five seconds would also go somewhere on the list.

When I saw the third Pokémon move, they didn't turn off the lights until well after the opening short.

Amazingly, most of my theater experiences usually range from being pretty average to actually enhancing the movie for me.

But such is not the case here.

When I went to see Happy Feet with my mom, right behind us was a young girl - couldn't have been much older than seven - who honestly would not just STFU. Yeah, it's kind of harsh to use that in reference to a seven year old but from the moment she set foot in the theater she wouldn't stop.
Such gems include kicking the back of my mother's seat, chucking her popcorn at the screen (read: the back of me and mom's heads) and flailing her stuffed penguin toy about. Even better? Me and mom were in a packed theater.

And this was all during the previews.

During the actual film, the girl kept trying to sing along with the film and was being hushed continually by her mother...until Mumble almost got killed during the iceberg scene.

“AAAAARRRGGGHHHH!!”

Most blood curling screech ever. The girl completely flipped out, starting to sob hysterically and IIRC she actually smacked her own mother in the face with her stuffed penguin. (Whap!)

“MAWMMY!! HE DIED!!”

At this point an usher walked in - no doubt from that scream - and asked the mother to calm the girl down, but before the mom could answer back -

“NO!! You're mean! The penguin died! He can't dance no more.”

The mother must've finally had it since she got up, dragging a screaming seven year old girl along with her and never came back in.

The whole theater burst into applause as soon as they left.

Oh yeah, and my screening of the Hey Arnold movie ended when the actual film projector caught on fire, no doubt due to the film's outstanding amount of epic suck. Incidentally, it was around the kiss scene between Arnold and Helga that we were told to evacuate.

TRULY THE GREATEST KISS IN CINEMA HISTORY.

At the risk of sounding dense, I'm not sure what you mean by that.

He's saying that Green Lantern is a bad movie. As someone that saw the movie and saw Shawn's post in the GL thread, this is a fair assessment to make.

My friend worked at a movie theater as an assistant manager. A customer wanted his money back because the only seats left in a theater were up close. My friend said that was fine, they'll give him his money back for the tickets. Then, he said he wanted his money back for the popcorn and pop that he had already ate part of. My friend said he couldn't do that. The customer got irate, had a temper tantrum, and threw his pop and popcorn at him. This got my friend worked up who escorted the guy out. Unfortunately, once outside my friend dropped dead of an unknown heart ailment that he had. One of the reasons I hate when customers act like jerks...

Oh dear god.....

Dat's horrible!!

I hope the customer at least lays awake at night knowing he led to someone dropping dead.

Watching Thor Yesterday, me and my uncle were the only people in the theater aside from an obnoxious group of boys who would not shut up near the end of the movie, me and my uncle gave them continuous dirty glances that they clearly didn't see as they were 7 or so rows away.

Oh, and apparently when I was 2 my parents took me to see Toy Story 1, and shortly left since I wouldn't shut up. That must've sucked for the people in the theater. Then again it was stupid of them to take me, I was 2 for crying out loud.

But I wonder if the woman liked it.
