What did you get this month? (April 2007)

GaoGaiGar volumes 3 and 4 (both) for 30 bucks at Sakura Con. :D

A Luffy standee figure, a t-shirt that says "I'm only using 20% of my full power" and a Keroro model also from Sakura Con booths.

Today I ordered volumes 7 through 14 of the Beyblade manga. They are expected to ship Monday and be here by next Friday, so I will have the entire Beyblade manga in my collection then.

Not much. I got the Kimagure Orange Road movie 1 and most of the Maison Ikkoku series (I'm missing box 6).

I highly recommend people pick up Maison Ikkoku. The manga is really good too, but the anime is almost equally as good. I know there's a fear of old anime in many circles, but don't be afraid. The remastered video makes the show look better than ever and it could easily pass for a late 90s anime (except for the specificity of the 80s settings).

If you can enjoy the easygoing pacing, gentle comedy and some of the nonsense patches of the series, you will be rewarded with a fantastic final 12 episodes. You won't be disappointed--it's the most rewarding ending I've seen in years, and IMO ironically from Takahashi, who's not known for good endings...or any endings, for that matter.

I don't think the problem with Maison Ikkou is that it's old. I think the problem is that it's 50 volumes. Oh, and the fact that it's almost impossible to find offline.

Actually, there are 8 DVD box sets in total. I know a lot of places are selling them on discount, about $20 each box. Maybe you're talking about the VHS release? I found one of the DVD boxes in my local Best Buy, the rest of the boxes I got in a used DVD store. The 8th and final box set came out pretty recently, in the fall of last year.

Unless you're talking about the manga, but that's still under 20 volumes.

Various odds and sods across the month:

Comic BomBom May 2007
SD Gundam-Episodes Of Battle Heroes book
Fullmetal Alchemist DVD Volumes 8 and 9
SD Verde Buster Gundam

I nearly bought a HGUC Gyan today. The comic shop have had that and Char's Z'Gok for ages. I 'liberated' the Z'Gok a while ago and will probably eventually buy the Gyan. They tend to get alot of US Gundam kit sell offs (LOTS of SD GP01, Nu and Wing Zero Custom). I'm also planning to buy Gundam Ace again this month as well. It's not the best but it has nice freebies and it's miles better then Newtype.

Having just finished Ai Yori Aoshi & Enishi and enjoying it, as well as the music, I picked up the first OST today.

Toshio Masuda does some great little ditties, that's for sure. Nothing epic, nothing highly orchestral, but fun to listen to just the same.

S-Cry-Ed Collector's Edition box set
Escaflowne Collector's Edition box set

Manga:

-Evangelion vol 10 (bout damn time!)

-Megaman NT Warriror vol 1 (for the lil bro)

- Gunsmith Cats Revised edition vol 1 (like the equivalent of 3 whole Tankos in one, for only $17, SCORE! plus it's not flipped!)

During the month:
Tekkaman Blade Collection 1
Cutie Honey Limited Edition w/ lunchbox

Its actually Raiders of Galaxy [as labeled on the box], and the movie is a crappy old Korean anime that is complete torture to watch and rips off many classic anime.

Here's a fun article I wrote on why Ruby and Jade from Sofia The First are good characters.
Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
