WBD Acquisition Thread

given how nexstar & tegna both hit pause and live nation is in big trouble, this merger could be killed due to it

The sad fact is that the EU has relaxed its laws to make such a takeover possible.
Actually, they're only doing that for domestic European companies to allow those to compete against bigger American ones. You didn't even read that article correctly.

The situation we're dealing with is a major American media conglomerate acquiring another major American media conglomerate, not a European company buying a European company. Of course Paramount buying WBD would attract major scrutiny from overseas regulators such as the EU one. The EU is not relaxing its rules regarding foreign (i.e. non-EU) M&As, despite what you might've thought.

Yeah, that seems pretty likely. Also, the fact that Paramount and WBD both have major services that extend beyond the United States means that foreign regulators might scrutinize the deal too.

Their relaxed policy only applied to European companies, so Paramount-WBD won't qualify under their relaxed policy.
I could see this ending up like Spirit-JetBlue or Kroger-Albertsons. Even Penguin Random House-Simon & Schuster. Shareholders have majority vote but regulatory approval will take a long time. All of them were stopped in court and we can expect this. Nexstar and Tegna is going on trial. We can expect the same thing. Live Nation-Ticketmaster dealt a massive loss in court declaring their monopoly illegal.

Simply put, WBD and Paramount Skydance's monopoly looks illegal almost on the scale of Disney's control of the box office.

WBD shareholders are starting to vote today.

Wasn't the vote tomorrow actually?

I think that is more of troll activity to ruin the Ellison's chance to get WBD.

Like Lowell said if Amazon gets involved, it would ruin Ellison further.
Ironically, this would mean James Bond and Austin Powers coming under the same roof. Hopefully that will happen. Maybe they'll finally get rid of the gritty-tormented-loser-over serious Bond nonsense stemming from their Austin Powers complex.

Imagine Amazon coming with a counterbid higher than Paramount's.

Already expect a Yes by a landslide making this the quickest approved merger in history.

All things WB will eventually die under PSKY.

omg, what's with your bashing of Daniel Craig James Bond

friendly reminder that if the shareholders say yes to the transaction, it's still not over yet
Thank you. I just don’t want this to be fast tracked or the current leader mandating to make sure this merger gets done so CNN and CBS will fold into one. He might have major stake after his final term.

1-) The approach of the so-called prestigeist, completely arrogant cinema sect towards Danny.

2-) The cinema critic/rotten tomatoes/cinephile sheeple of this sect, which ignores all the past traditions of the series and calls it poor quality-lowbrow.

3-) Those who say that James Bond, which used to be an escapist and larger-than-life series, has now turned into a sleep festival and claims that "this is something to be blessed and mature or significant".

5-) Although he occupied the character for 15 years and destroyed all the values, originality and distinctiveness of the character, he did not add anything to the character.

5-) We cannot go back to the old days even after he is gone. The studio still appoints obnoxious and arrogant auteurs like Villeneuve and Steven Knight as filmmakers.

IN SHORT, JAMES BOND WAS A GIANT EMPIRE, NOW IT'S AN EXTINGUISHED CANDLE AND A RUSTY RUINS IN AN IDENTITY CRISIS.

It is not up to shareholders nor Ellisons to decide about deal to be fast tracked.

DOJ is one to make a decision about fast tracked, also even if fast tracked, it is not guaranteed and it won't speed up with regulators in other countries.

Hey calm down, Paramount-WBD merger is still under review and it is still very far away from conclusion. Quit listen to Ellison's nonsense.

Again, I said M&A is VERY UNPREDICTABLE and there is no way to know about outcome because any situation can change quickly like if Netflix or Amazon opt to fight, so it will drag further and further. If there is lawsuit to block the M&A.

Did Hasbro exit its stake in DFC? I recently saw news that they are planning a new channel of their own.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
