WBD Acquisition Thread

No, you read my post wrongly.

I'm saying that Netflix is building new studio in New Jersey and it is under Netflix, so it is totally unrelated to WBD.

I answered GRPHX's question about WB studio would be only inhouse for Netflix, so I said not just only, Netflix will have their own studio in New Jersey.

There is bottom line - Netflix's acquisition of WBD hasn't approved nor finalized yet, so it is very long road with Paramount's hostile takeover in place, so it wouldn't settled until summer or later and after that, regulator can review the acquisition.
Interesting. That's kinda where Hollywood began anyway

That why California massively increased the film credits to get decline under control.

Remember that Discovery Global's planned 2026 upfront announced by Warner Bros. Discovery in October 2025 will cover brands expected to be owned by both Warner Bros. and Discovery Global, instead of only the latter.

Hopefully something interesting comes out of it for Cartoon Network

I wonder the plan involved forming a new Cartoon Network studios label while the old one got folded into Warner bros animation (or renamed to hanna barbera to match the European hanna barbera studio)

My understanding is that Netflix would own the Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Cartoonito trademarks I do wonder if Discovery Global would really retain the Boomerang and Warner TV trademark for their linear operations because it's not like they're curating original or first run content for those brands.

There is updated news about 93% of shareholders rejected Skydance's hostile takeover.

Again, remember, it is not over until Skydance withdraws since they could continue the battle.

I do think @lowell is going to give more detail soon and I absolutely love to read his statements.

Barry Diller has expresssed interest in buying CNN.

He would definitely treat CNN much, much better than Ellison.

Larry Ellison would use chainsaw on CNN as Cartoon Network, Boomerang, TNT and TBS become fear about next one to be cut into piece.

Who is Barry Diller?

Edit: Just read the article, Yeah, better with Diller than the Ellisons

Just going to chime in a bit, after Diller bailed on his Paramount Global buyout, he did go all around, including on his book tour, to cheer the Redstones on the sale with more than a normal amount of publicity for them.

There's no evidence out there that he got something from Skydance in exchange but all the PR being spread by him seems like an indirect endorsement that he could've been hired for.

Whether or not this information about Diller's interest in CNN plays a role in the Ellisons' WarnerDiscovery pursuit remains to be seen.

I just wouldn't put all the confidence in Diller here if some weird twist happens later on.

Oh wow, I didn't know about weird twist on him and what's crappy.

I means lesser evil of two, not best. I rather to see CNN stay with David Zaslav, despite his horrible treatment with animated shows and movies.

Yeah, that's why I still feel CNN would stabilize and evolve under WarnerDiscovery, despite Zaslav needing to learn a long lesson that CNN All Access was a necessary revenue stream for the channel's long-term future.

The Ellisons will use all possible dirty tricks they have under their sleeve to try to force WarnerDiscovery to be under their will, just like they did with Paramount Global, so be wary of Diller playing a role here like the compromised Redstones previously did much earlier.

Yeah, I can see, I just strike my first paragraph in #91.

It looks like I need to work with my critical thinking to recognize the dirty tricks.

Sometimes, I don't even recognize things until I put different bits together. All these interviews Diller had happened with months between them so some people can easily forget what previously happened with time apart.

The most important bits aren't always mentioned in the headlines but actually buried deep down in the articles themselves like the Redstones' various forms of financial proceeds and benefits from the Ellisons being drip fed in detail in multiple articles on different news sites.

Yeah, nobody like Redstone for decades, especially after split Viacom and CBS back in 2000s.

I was very disappointed with CBS and Showtime after split, also split led Viacom to teamed up with MGM and Lionsgate to create Epix, so Showtime became crappy until it got improved after CBS and Viacom remerged.

Then, Ellison comes in & turns Showtime upside down and gutting it just because he was betting on nabbing WarnerDiscovery, which has HBO.

CNN is 100% going under Gunnar Wiedenfels's management.

Almost all of WBD's current linear channels (not including TCM USA/Canada or the worldwide HBO/Cinemax channels which will be with Warner Bros.) will be more or less fine under his management, aside from maybe the ex-WarnerMedia kids & family/young adult channels.
