WBD Acquisition Thread

I beg to differ on that there wouldn't be any loss if Ellison succeeds in shutting down HBO Max. Sorry but I do plan on subscribing to the service when it arrives in the UK next month.

You forget that the streaming service does have non-premium tiers and I'm actually fine with the name since I'm in the opinion that not every streaming service owned by a major film studio needs to be named after themselves.

While SKYShowtime in parts of Europe is a bigger loss, the catalog is mostly empty since launch
Same with HBO Max. Moreover, cartoons are overly censored in my country. It's not really a loss. I'm so sorry I don't feel like some of the members here.

HBOMax have been failed very much in delivering and caring about non-prestige tiers. Disney+ has a better overall catalogue of general entertainment/prestige branches than its crappy localization and its failure to add dubbing to episodes/shows. I feel sorry for you. But because some select content like Friends, TBBT, Ben10, Regular Show was added to a service, it's not a good WB GE Streaming.

With Netflix I had the biggest hopes as this is most of their business, streaming, but with Paramount, I don't have them anymore. And even after closing HBO Max, no one knows if they'll add the shows that were removed from HBO Max on Paramount+ or SkyShowtime.

Even the Nickelodeon catalog there was limited at launch

Some franchises lacked some titles

It was obviously Netflix or nothing for me. "Never" one happened. The goal of movie lobbies/unions were to bring Amazon or Comcast into bidding-game. But they are smart. They've didn't dare it.

I wish good(!) luck them(cinema lobies and unions) with arrogant bastard Ellison.

I have been very critical of Disney for purging the Fox Kids/Saban catalog, but I see that Disney is a good example for network legacy streaming. Excludes localization and dubbing. Paramount+ & HBO Max are really terrible.

If the Justice Department really thinks that this nonsense is not a monopoly, no one should say to me that there is transparency and democracy in the United States.

This is looks like an incident could happen in Russia, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Argentina, Maduroland, Mexico or India.

Western democracy and justice in collapse.

I felt ashamed while talking to my Western friends because of the disgrace happening in my country. Fortunately, our fate is the same now. :)

Really, Zaslav wanted a $33/share offer from PSKY, but got pleased with $31. And since Netflix also gave up.

Netflix could bid 29$ per share. Probably this is only about politics and they withdrawled.

I don't believe that CNN won't be MAGA-friendly in the future with this acquisition. But yes, the effects of politics....

I was told, that if the merger passes through, they will initially own 85 TV networks, including three OTA networks Weigel owns that supplies content for them.

Then the number will gradually fall.

Quite the impressive catalog of linear channels, until you find out that, over time, the effects of the bursting of the linear TV bubble will be put into gear.

...Zero international channels.
Where are Space, Tooncast, Real Time, Giallo, Quest, Really, Quest Red, DMAX, K2, Frisbee, Nove, TVN, Kanal 9... And I'm definitely missing more! The world isn't just the States.
(And Super!, 10 and (Channel) 5 for the Paramount side. Missing 5 and 10 is pretty questionable.)

Where did you find this photo?

not owned by WBD
MeTV Toons is operated through the joint venture WAM TV Limited Partnership. This structure is used only for this channel, and Weigel has always stated that the channel operates in partnership with Warner. So logically, Warner has a stake (%) in the channel through WAM TV.

Glad I got you to watch Stranger Things.

If I may recommend more media for you to check out, here's a starter:

You've mentioned that haven't read the original TMNT comics from Mirage Studios. Well, this video by YouTuber "Soundout12" gives a decent roadmap for where to start:

dmxx116 really likes to wish for people not to return back to so and so because their films didn't do so well. I don't agree with everything he says, though I agree on that Jared Leto shouldn't play Skeletor.
I'm sorry but I disagree with what GRPHX said about the past five films with Daniel Craig as James Bond as well as the choice of Denis Villeneuve as director and Steven Knight as writer in the next film because I really doubt Villeneuve's take will be like the Craig films at all and besides, all of the stuff he mentioned happened before the Craig films such as Licence to Kill.
