Television Presentation Thread

Dear The Ident Gallery,
can you please add Court TV UK in the channels of which you keep track, update Crime+Investigation (as, yes, what is in there is kinda outdated, C+I in UK uses a different set now, pretty cool, in my opinion) and move GREAT! Real and GREAT! Movies Classic to the Defunct section?
Please and thank you, from an Italian visitor.

(Joking aside, I think the webmaster does accept emails for those things? I can't definitely contact him on Pres Café since they made that UK-only (and VPNs seems to not be that reilable to unlock it))

The break bumper at 2:50 is questionable: BBC Prime never broadcast commercials.

Not even on the African feed, which had slight variations. At best DSTV crashed into the feed's promos and aired its own promos for like a minute.

When TVN launched its new graphics package on January 2, 2008, it was immediately criticized by viewers and internet users. The design was created by Velvet, the same German agency that had developed the channel's 2002 look. Although the package was updated for widescreen and 1080i HD on August 1, 2009, it was only years later that public perception of the graphics began to improve.

"Questionable" not so much, part of any respectable package

It was future proof, had the channel at one point decided to have local ad opt outs for some countries

I was speculating the African feed, but then again no footage emerged of how DSTV handled the channel, even with more South African archivists existing on YouTube

Check Magnetic Memories, it has thousands of videos, mostly from the 90s and the 2000s

(Almost copied from the international TV channels' thread.)

Viasat 3's new idents fit to the other Viasats Antenna has. In terms of their OSB, they pulled a Cartoon Network: bigger in size and put more to the corner.

If AXN would rebrand, they should use the Portuguese idents.

Now that you say it, I think the Antenna-operated AXN channels are taking some visual cues from the Sony-operated Iberian AXN feeds.

The Viasat 3 logo has not become larger, it is only an optical illusion because it is closer to the edge of the image.
Anyway, according to AXN Polska's Facebook page, the new design is already complete.

With E4 struggling as it is, I wonder what the point of E4 Extra is

With The Big Bang Theory likely being lost to the newly relaunched TLC (UK), I think they should shut it down

It is a repeat channel full of reality shows, and the idea of something akin to "E4 Retro" (a bit what 4Music was) has been thrown to the bin.

It, but also likely 4Seven, no need of these anymore
Plus, the branding of the 4 channels is all over the place

I was expecting a refresh (at least in terms of endboards and so on) to make E4, Film4 and More4 more coherent one with the other after C4 had one, but not

The colour palette chosen by C4 is also quite frankly questionable (although the idents are nice), that kind of green. It does not help it I don't like two channels from the same "family" having similar colours
Each channel should have a more identifiable and individual colour within the family, and C4 just looks like More4. I would have preferred C4 to have a "normal" light blue, instead.

E4 still has endboards and so on that look like the older ITV2.
While ITV has adjusted theirs, 4's is just stuck in a limbo

Branding-wise, UK channels definitely do not excel as they used to, although it's hard to blame them: but a little coherence would be at least appreciated

The latest "5" branding leaves a lot to be desired, too, starting with that yellow

The older a graphics package is, the more likely the channel will either close or in need of a rebrand. The urge is to close for low-priority channels, rebrand for higher.

Yeah, but E4, More4 and Film4 at least, are relatively safe, for now. They have an audience because of familiarity... maybe their +1s are useless though.

Making them more like "4" channels would help

ITV4 recently accidentally aired a never before seen ITV1 generic ident, which looks to actually be the somber ident for this set!

To Virgin Media subscribers in Ireland, they probably don’t know what is ITV1 (since for years, they had UTV).

A mistake causing the first outing.

Two of my favourite YouTube channels is Grafismos Portugueses and Máquina do Tempo, covering idents and continuity videos of Portuguese television and also around the world.

The recent video from the former was a ident compilation of SIC Sempre Gold, which was basically the Portuguese equivalent to UK Gold before becoming the comedy channel SIC Comédia in 2004.

I wouldn't say equivalent to UK Gold in both phases. Although it tried adding old US series to attract a higher audience, the channel was stagnant even during its last year on air.

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
