Sniper attack

Hmmm, that article says that they haven't found the second vehicle identified to the sniper. Maybe there is another person involved....

The other vehicles were reported to belong to some of Malvo's girlfriends last night, and that he might be using them.

I'm going to go back over what I've said about this:

Not to freak people out more, but I had a thought listening to the radio. You know how the police keep closing down roads and highways around the areas like right after shootings happen? And this person still eludes them? Could he be a police officer?

He isn't a cop. But somehow I figured he would be someone who knew certain procedures, and knew how to work around them.

There's nothing special about this one. He just kills. His messages mean nothing, he has no agenda, so to speak (supposedly). He just kills. And there's no art in that.

ANYONE can do what he's doing. Yes, anyone. It's not hard to hide and pick people off. It's a little hard to escape the scene without detection, but with discipline and training, it can be done.

It looks like he isn't as smart as most people thought. Matter of fact, he looks fairly stupid right now.

Which brings up another point. I don't think he's had extensive training. I do still believe he could be a cop, or have had some kind of military training, but I don't think this is a "professional" sniper.

And we've been told that he isn't, that he had something called "combat backup" training or something.

I've got to believe it's about more then murder. And as Chief Moose has remarked, the sniper has indicated that it's about more then violence. From the sniper's actions so far, I believe part of it is a message about fear. Here in America, we used to live without it for the most part, while in some countries, this atmosphere is a normal thing. Could this be a message for the public from the sniper? We aren't safe? I think the fact that their notes emphasize the fact that the children aren't safe, ect, point to yes.

This is going to end up being one of the reasons this all happened.

To those who are bashing the cops and their handling of this sniper investigation.

Do better.

You have no idea how much stress and pressure these people are under. They aren't chasing a stupid teenager. They're investigating someone who has planned this. Someone who has studied police methods. Someone who could have access to their scanners. Someone who might not be a genius, but is SMART, and determined.

There are hundreds of men and women around the country working on this, day and night. You think they aren't TRYING? That somewhere someone's being lazy, and that's why this person is slipping through their fingers?

I'm loving all the newspeople that are eating their words about "botched investigation", ect right now, as it looks like these two just might be the ones.

A few thoughts on this investigation:

It looks like the press knew about A LOT of this, including the investigations, well ahead of time. And no one said a thing. That's impressive.

The press conference, when they might have had the names, was cancelled, and then the names were released at night. At a time when the two men must not have been watching TV. Could, in fact, have been sleeping. Law enforcement officials released the information at just the right time. And since the two men didn't see it, they didn't run. Brilliant.

I can't believe that so much has been made about this "ingenius trap door/hole" in the car. That's actually fairly idiotic. For one thing, if you get caught, that's hard evidence. A professional sniper would not do something like that. A professional would choose a spot, set up, do his job, and leave.

There will be good things that come of this. I've got to believe that this will serve as a bit of a deterrent for some of the violent crimes that might have been committed.

No one is going to belive me, but I pictured the car they were captured in after the Home Depoit murder.

Now the Pentagon has officially said that this guy, John Muhammad AKA John Allen Williams, is an expert marksmen trained out of Fort Lewis in Washington.

They think they may have caught him this timeSniper I'll post more as I find it.

So they do have the gun? Good, more evidence.

Don't anyone jump to conclusions just yet. We don't know how deep this snake pit really is yet.

No, but at least we're getting somewhere, big time. Now the question is, "why"?

And who's the kid in all this?

The guy changed his name to "Muhammed". He could be a Muslim convert trying to make a statement (even though Muslim forbids violence). That could also be the case with the 17 y/o boy also, or he's just getting kicks out of shooting people and feeding off of their fear. I hope they got the right guy this time.

What was the whole 10 million dollar thing all about? He couldn't possibly handle so much money without being noticed.

From what I saw they haven't really talked about it.

So now the gun found has been linked to 11 of the shootings, but where is the gun for the others. Hopefully we'll find that and possibly other suspects(if there are any) soon.

It all depends on who actually did the shooting. Was it the child or adult? Once that is clear, then punishment can be determined.

Both, it sounds like. The first set of killings were all clean head shots that killed the victims immediately. These were probably done by the older guy, as he's the one trained with weapons. The later killings were all chest shots, and not as expertly done - probably the step-son trying his hand at killing and getting his "training" from the step-dad.

Well isn't that special. *GAG* It's unbelievable just how messed up some people are. What were they trying to prove? Heck, I could go out, buy a gun, and start shooting people too, but you don't see ME doing that. I'll never understand sick individuals like these.

They most likely will get the death penatly. But with the news reporting on it so much there's no way they are going to get a fair trial.

Hey, I bet there is SOME potential jury member out there that has no idea about what's been going on. There has to be. They did find people for the O.J. trial, didn't they?

-Tim
(Man, and that's just another can of worms.)

This can be avoided if Bush brands them as enemy combatants, which may not work since they have no actual ties to al Qaeda and the like.

That said, there's no way they're being spared execution, much less acquitted...

Unless they are this generation's Lee Harvey Oswald...

Don't make me go there. This is something I did consider. And it scares the heck out of me to think that this could be one of those government cover-up things, that these killings were all scripted, to "bring the American people together" or something.

This case has a distinct whiff of something rotten going on behind it. The money "threat", the escapes, the two "killers" themselves...

We may never know the real story. Just two crackpots just killing people? Or something more?
