I've been following the sniper attacks in Washington rather intently. Anyone living around that area? I'd sure hate to be.

Anyway, I think yesterday was one of their best chances at nabbing the guy (or guys). Sometimes I feel they are taking entirely too long with procedure, and by the time tests and results are "verified", the predator has struck again. Who knows how many bodies will have piled up by the time they catch him/her/it/they.

I live a stones throw away from most of these.Kinda scary. You don't see as many people out.

There was also a similar incident back in '94,I beleive,in New York,I think. It was easier there cause its not ranging over different places.

Many are again talking about the "Son of Sam" New York murders back in the late 70s, where the killer would taunt police and send letters to the local newspaper gloating about it. Similarly, he would target victims who were stationary--sitting around, standing still, etc,.

I don't believe he was as methodical as this Tarot Card Killer, though. IIRC, "The Son of Sam" killed people within a span of a few years. This sniper killer seems to kill one person a day. When he misses "work" for a day, he may shoot two to make up for it.

This is definitely freaky, don't think we've had a killer of this kind for quite a while. One thing I don't get is how these profilists on the radio and such in one breath can explain how he wants media attention and also that he's not that good, or that he isn't really a sniper because he's hitting stationary targets. I'm sorry, but how stupid are these people? If I were someone doing these horrible acts, you bet I would get plenty pissed if they said I wasn't worthy of the "sniper title" or that I basically sucked. What a wonderful way to anger these psycho more.

That is why I never do these weird things that they are now doing to see your future and stuff.

This reminds me of the James Patterson Alex novel CAT'S CRADLE. I'd wanted to see a movie based on it for while, a sequel to KISS THE GIRLS and ALONG CAME A SPIDER. Now I'm not so sure.

These attacks have haapened all around me. Fredricksburg is south of me, about 30 min drive, and all the rest are north of me.

Whoever is doing this is very good. There are hardly any witnesses, and if there are they only saw a van with 2 people in it. Thats it. Of course a big mistake that was made was when Montgomery Police Chief called the guy a coward. How stupid can you get? Make him even angrier why don't you.

I will have to say though, it is freaky. I'm not scared or anything, it's just freaky that somebody would actually do this.

And you know what's even more freaky? Thousands of innocent lives are being killed over stupid wars that have no relevance towards them.

This is a really freaky story. If I lived in any area where a sniper of this skill (and lack of conscience) was present and knocking off random people just to play a game with the police and the public. Thing is, unless he messes up big time or gets bored, I don't see any way he'll be caught any time soon.

As the cliche goes, "it's like something out of a movie". I'd wager that the non-stop news conferences are just fueling this guy's ego. He's almost Riddler-like in a sense. Yes, I do relate everything to Batman, but this time it really works. The tarot card is like a riddle/clue of some sort, and he's taunting the police, just BEGGING to be caught; he just wants to see how many he can kill before the police catch up to him.

Sick, man. Sick.

I don't live very close to this but it still scares me. Just thinking about the cruel people that are doing this really just gives me a chill down my spine. Really scary place this world has become.

This guy can be caught, but it would cost quite a bit of money to up the security and police patrols of the area. I'm convinced that if they are quick enough to block off roads right after a crime scene, with enough manpower, they should be able to catch him after he commits his next crime. Unfortunately, that means another person getting hurt, or worse.

I think they were too slow in reacting yesterday. Too much time was spent examining the crime scene and not enough haste spent on sealing off the immediate area. Experts should be able to deduce a certain radius in which the killer might possibly be hiding or living. The question is, how long will this take?

My Jedi Knight clan leader lives in the area that the shootings have been in too. I think they should call the National Guard in but instead of making a huge deal out of it, just having everything perfectly normal and having the National Guard go in as everyday looking tourists, just in good numbers so they can be in a fine number of places at once so if there was another shooting, they may be able to be closer than that one cop was and get the jerk.

My aunt was across the street from the gas station when the 6th victim was shot. She saw the crowd and (wisely) decided to get the heck out of there. Its really scary for me, because I have around 20 relatives all living in the area where the sniper(s) is(are). :( I hope they catch him(them) soon!

This is really scary. All of you that live in that area take care and stay safe. It's weird they're comparing this guy to the Berkowitz, because that's who I thought of when this all first started happening. I sure hope the police can catch this guy soon.

I don't think you have to live in the area to be frightened. At any time this person(s) can decide to switch destinations and head to anyone of our states.

Just think how bad it would affect your life if this happened in your area...I think I would think twice before walking home from school again...pumping gas would be scary, playing outside with siblings, or even sitting near a window...Its just creepy.

like tim said its sick

i dont live around there

Yeah, i've been following this pretty closely, since I live in the DC Baltimore area. :(

I work directly east of where the first 5 or 6 shootings occured in Montgomery County, and a little bit west of where that poor 13 year old kid was shot outside his school. Its definitely freaky - I know most people around where I work stay in as much as possible, and we haven't been going out to lunch anywhere near as much as we normally would. Hopefully they'll catch this guy soon so life can get back to "normal".

Thios has been pretty un-nerving for us around here. Heck, I WENT to the middle school wher that kid was shot, and I have friends who live not too far from where the first shootings occured. Here's hoping we catch these sick, sick people and do it soon.

Clayface, you work in Beltsville?

For all of us who leave near this, here is the truck police are looking for.

I don't live in the area, but one of my mom's closest friends does. So yeah, you don't have to live there to be a little afraid. I pray they catch this guy soon.
