Saban buys back Power Rangers; show will head to Nick

So the licensing show is in 2 weeks. Pretty soon. Looking forward to getting the name of the next series.

I'm starting to wonder how much on the daily schedule Nicktoons is going to use for Power Rangers reruns. There's enough episodes to quite honestly fill the entire channel space for a while but they wont do that because Power Rangers is just one of several major franchises they'll be making use of on Nicktoons in late 2010 and beyond.

I suppose the late night slots would be good for the early episodes. They'll probably put the "newer" looking seasons front and center with a primetime slot and a couple of afternoon slots throughout the day.

I suppose the late night slots would be good for the early episodes. They'll probably put the "newer" looking seasons front and center with a primetime slot and a couple of afternoon slots throughout the day.

I'm actually expecting RPM to get a primetime run before the 18th season. RPM has never aired on cable television, so It is technically new.

I think it's destined for a weekday strip, probably twice each day.

In the mornings, they have:

7:00 Avatar
7:30 Dragon Ball Z Kai
8:00 The Troop
8:30 Wolverine & the X-Men

I can easily see PR taking the 8:30 slot, considering W&tXM is not going on with new episodes. They can still find other slots for it (nights, weekends, etc.) but it's not A-list programming any more.

There's probably a similar opening in the evening schedule -- anywhere from 6:00 to 10:00. I'm looking at next week's grid but there's no uniformity since they're using most of prime-time to pimp DBZ and a whole bunch of Avatar, to coincide with the Airbender movie coming out.

I think Samurai Strike would be cool. Or just go the generic route and go with Samurai Force.

I've never bought into the it was too violent reasoning that Disney took to get rid of the franchise from their hands , it was simply a cop out. Not having supreme control over the franchise is the real reason why Disney got rid of it. Cause the last time I checked, Marvel charaters went into combat and fought...

The scenario that seems to make the most sense right now is to be on NICK on Friday nights along with The Troop and Big Time Rush.

Maybe that's why they seem to be holding off on showing new episodes of the Troop. Perhaps they think it would be a good companion to Power Rangers.

After looking at Nickelodeon's general TV schedule, I'm not sure I see Power Rangers fitting in among shows like The Troop, Big Time Rush, Victorious, or even iCarly. Those shows seem geared more towards teenagers (at least pre-teens). I'm sorry to say this, but I can actually see them putting it on among shows like Spongebob Squarepants and The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron.

I guess in some ways, Power Rangers is on par with a show like The Troop, but I can also see them airing it right before or right after Brainsurge.

Obviously that was hold over line from the original pilot of Day of the Dumpster where the Rangers actually had attitude.

What I never understood wasn't so much what "teenagers with attitude" meant or how the MMPRs fit into this (though, only Tommy really fit into this...and that was more when he was evil...and he wasn't even among Zordon's first pick). No, what I never understood was why Zordon specifically wanted teenagers and especially why they had to have attitude...and he made them wear that spandex...

The more I think about it, the more Zordon creeps me out to be honest.
