What I never understood wasn't so much what "teenagers with attitude" meant or how the MMPRs fit into this (though, only Tommy really fit into this...and that was more when he was evil...and he wasn't even among Zordon's first pick). No, what I never understood was why Zordon specifically wanted teenagers and especially why they had to have attitude.

The more I think about it, the more Zordon creeps me out to be honest.

I've never really thought about it, but let's be honest here. Most adults would be unwilling to accept a talking head to choose them to become the protectors of the planet. Kids would be too young. That basically means teenagers are the best choice to accept the talking head from another dimension. As for the attitude part, it depends on what you read as attitude. I'd say Bulk and Skull actually had more attitude than our heroes, but if you choose to have the definition of attitude contain compassion, intelligence, flexibility, the ability to compromise, and other key factors like that then you get what the Power Rangers were, a group of Heroes who were willing to fight to protect the Earth using their various skills to help others. That's what I've always considered the "teenagers with attitude" to mean, though I don't really think it's important since it sounds better saying teenagers with attitude at the beginning. When you actually watch episode 1, he never says "teenagers with attitude" when asking Alpha to choose teenagers to become Power Rangers.

I just watched the pilot. All three versions (the final cut, pilot w/o Thuy Trang, and the Power Morphicon version). I didn't hear any line of the sort being mentioned. Though the closest thing I remember is "you need each other, and the world needs you".

Disney incorporated more flashy fight scenes.

With explosions? Not many people quite care for those.

meh...i liked the flashy fight scenes, you could tell they were fake...but
they blended somewhat nicely.

explosions? i thought those were there throughout both saban/disney series.

I just re-watched it and in the first pilot when Trini asks, "What does all of this have to do with us?", Zordon/Zoltar replies, "You have been chosen to form an elite fighting force to battle Rita. As teenagers, the future of the planet is yours, and you are now called upon to defend that future."

Okay that was in the original pilot. The one with Audri DuBois and not with Thuy Trang. He did say that there, except he said "team" and not "fighting force". I don't even know how that slipped by me anyway, and there's a point, but I'd question if that even counts anymore since it wasn't in the final cut.

oi...all these technicalitites. the air feels a bit heavy,
since there's so much awesomeness down the road. E3, toonzai, the Hub, Marvel movies,
and most of all...saban's new super sentai adaptation.

The Animorphs books often bring up the reason why teenagers are the best choice to save the world with alien technology is because kids can accept the impossible, while adults can have it staring at them right in the face and refuse to believe it, coming up with any excuse to explain it away and pretend it doesn't exist or isn't happening.

It will be Shinkengers; the casting descriptions list colors that match those from Shinkengers. The fact that it's only 20 episodes means it's likely to be an original story, just using Shinkengers footage, as it would be difficult to compress a 50-episode story into just 20 episodes.
