Welcome to "Let's Talk Comics!" for 07/10/13!

Every week, in this thread, you can:

3. Discuss current news and rumors in the comic book industry that you've heard!

If discussing something potentially spoilerific, then use your common sense and cover the text with the spoiler code (or provide spoiler space).

I read:

Vengeance #4 - An improvement over last issue. The Teen Brigade and Young Masters are each getting outside help in their goals. Ultimate Nullifier (a hero) and the female Black Knight (a villain) are secretly involved. There are a couple of good battles and, once again, the villains are the most interesting characters (I especially like Black Knight).

Batman '66 #1 - I was worried that this comic wouldn't live up to my expectations, but I have to say that I love this issue! It really is a throwback to old school fun comics.

It wasn't quite perfect. First, while I love the art, I didn't like the colored lines next to the black. It's hard to describe, but it looks like when you look at an old 3-D comic without the glasses. You get this colored double image next to the picture. I didn't like it at all.

Secondly, DC is trying something new with the panel progression. Normally, when you view something digitally, you see the whole panel. When you tap the screen, you move to the next one. With Batman '66, you start with artwork and, perhaps, a bit of dialogue or a caption. As you tap the screen, more word balloons, captions, and sound effects appear. Once you have everything in that panel, tapping it again takes you to the next where you repeat the process.

I found this to be a bit of a mixed bag. I didn't like it at all when it started (plus there was a glitch with one panel that filled in the last bit of information but then immediately went to the next panel without me touching the screen), but I got used to it by the end. I'm still not a fan of it and would prefer if they limited it to sound effects (which would really simulate the feel of the TV show).

Overall, it's still a great comic and I hope the sales are there to keep this series going.

I'm back~

Justice League #22 - Excellent Start to Trinity War can't wait to see how it evolves
Superman Unchained #2 - Eh...still feels like a random story arc that could be in any Superman book. Let's see how it evolves from here on.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
