So, how good is Soul Eater, exactly?

From that trailer, it looks beautifully animated but the story doesn't sound interesting or original at all. Is there some sort of clever twist in the presentation which makes this something other than InuYasha-meets-Naruto-meets-Bleach-meets-insertoverexposedactionshonenhere?

Not bad, It's more like a parody of shounen anime, and the characters are pretty much parodies of other anime characters, so it pretty much makes fun of its own genre

Se is wicked awesome. One of the best parts of the show are the characters themselves, but the plot is pretty sweet, too. Lot's of twists and turns along the way. I haven't met a person who doesn't like it

The Fillers they do have are akin to the Don Konoji fillers from Bleach.

It's amazing how that trailer makes it look like the whole 99 souls and 1 witch thing is like the main plot when that concept gets pretty downplayed after like...what episode 4? It's like the Toonami trailer for Naruto (The awesome one) when it makes it look like the entire story is about a ninja school.

Regardless......(insert loud and partyful noises here and play "Celebration" in the background)

52 is the contracted amount though more may come out since the manga is still ongoing and the story is on like episode 38 or so and somehow still hasn't broken away from the manga.

Though I'm sure it will go the FMA route soon enought.

Seriously, guys its an amazing show filled with a great blend of comedy, action and drama. Would any of us be hyping this up as we have if we didn't know what we were talking about?

Actually, wait don't answer that. Just take our word for it. It's amazing. (And it's by BONES....BONES! How can you pass that up?)

Terrible mix?

Soul Eater is in many ways a shounen anime parody. There characters are typically parodies of shounen standards. But the series has a unique style and the world of Soul Eater is pretty interesting. It's my favorite show still running in Japan behind One Piece and it's about the only new Japanese show I bother to watch.
