DKA Presents - "Batman Beyond: Stripped" Talkback, Part 2 (Spoilers)

I hope all is well with Kris; I know there have some communication gaps before, but to lose him entirely is somewhat out of character.

Yeah, I hope we can get a few more pages before the end of the Summer.

Don't worry, you will.

Watch this space.

So Bruce is learning from his mistakes... but rational thinking at this late stage is unlikely to spare any casualties... I guess the next page is Kara vs. Le Fey? :D

Wow it feels good to see that banner again after such a long hiatus. Glad to see the time away didn't soften those skills of yours ;)

I hope we'll get the next page within the next few days. :D Hope all is well with Kris, James and Co. :)

Quite honestly I can't remember what the next strip is. It was done so long ago now, my mind can't even put together what happens next. Which is cool.

These is a typo or so, which I apologize for - a glitch we'll try and rectify sometime. Next one is whenever Kris comes up with the goods.

I read through some of the first comics on the site, but I had some difficulty using the PHP browser thingy or whatever it is. At the end of each comic you had to scroll up, go back to the archive, scroll down, find the next comic, then click on that, you don't seem to be able to go straight from the end of one comic to the next, it just goes to the talkback. Am I doing something wrong or is it meant to be like that? Because I otherwise enjoyed the first few that I read.

The entire archive is on the same page as the comic, below it.

Ah I see. Would it be possible to do that for the non-Batman Beyond comics?

That would depend on the administrators time. When these comics were released they were meant to read and the next click sent you to the forum where you could read or partake in feedback.

I would humbly suggest simply bookmarking this link and just returning to it once a comic is finished. Thanks for the kind words. Seems like so many years ago since those comics were done. Oh hang on, it was. :)

New episode has been sent to Bird Boy to be put up. Watch this space. Getting close now..!

Whoa... what is this secret? Does it have something to do with Nightwing? ... Or is it the monster within Wayne, thought long vanquished? Getting pretty intense, that's for sure...

With any luck, the answer will be with you later this week as I've seen Kris' colors for next episode, so its just a matter of finding room for the oh-so-much-exposition.

This is it. Ten more strips to go.

Awesome. I knew it would be worth the wait. Thanks, guys, for rewarding this geek's faith and patience.:D

No probs. You need a bucket full of patience to cope with our untimely schedules. Appreciated.

Huzzah!!! take that dangling Kara plot thread. Now if only we get to learn who Dick killed .... (looks pleadingly at James) please!!!!!

I think one of my favorite things about Stripped is how it focuses on the reunion of the Batfamily. From the first episode of TNBA to Batman Beyond to "Epilogue" the driving theme has been about how Bruce Wayne alienates himself and how his family splinters into bitterness and recrimination (Justice League aside, as they're more friends and coworkers). With Stripped, the exact opposite happens as everyone reunites one final time out of loyalty and the bond they once shared. It just seems like a nice coda.

Between the end of Stripped and the cancellation of DC's JLU comic this really does seem like the end of the DCAU :crying:. At least its going out on a high note.

(And before someone jumps in, yes, I know the first aired episode of TNBA was Holiday Knights;))

If you're nice.

That was the idea. Naturally Stripped began before JLU moved into the Epilogue domain, so we didn't quite know how BB would resolve, but the idea of this story was to pretty much do all those things we guessed that DCAU never would do as well as resolve the DKA tales we had been telling through studentdom.

I found the disintegration of the Bat family from TNBA to BB to be one of the more fascinating aspects of the DCAU; it was such a bold move, including the anti-fan pairing of Barb and Bruce, the total disassociation of Dick, the torture of Robin (okay, that wasn't so far out of the comic continuity), I respected such an arc, and it was arguably the most logical arc any Batman story has ever done so far as rendering the character rationally; Bruce is a man who is a loner, who through a gradual build up of associates in his crusade would end up a "family", and it seems so like him to be the lynchpin in destroying it as well, not through choice, but because of the nature of his crusade. That was a fascinating concept and yes, Stripped has been a postulation as to the ramifications of that journey and how when the chips are down, no matter how many bridges are burned, the team will always come back to support their figurehead.

I guess the other thing Stripped was about echos that TNBA continuity to Batman Beyond, and that's fallibility. I like the idea of Bruce being a mastermind; that his detective skills put him in the league of the metahuman; that he can see just where and when to push buttons to bring situations to his advantages (ye olde issue 13 of DKA was all about that), yet what's so cool about Batman DCAU (and contemporary comic Batman too), is he does screw up, and I liked the idea that when someone with such power, screws up, he screws up bad. He's one of the most gifted and brilliant people this world has known, but he's not perfect. And when he gets old, his judgment might not be as sharp as it once was. Stripped is very much about Bruce recognizing that.

In fact, in someways, Stripped is a fanbased extension to ROTJ; with Bruce confronting his past, his mistakes and his limitations.

That's a lot of stuff, but hey, we're in the last act, so we can chat more about what this has been about.

Between the end of Stripped and the cancellation of DC's JLU comic this really does seem like the end of the DCAU :crying:. At least its going out on a high note.

DCAU went out on a brilliant note, and this silly old fan strip is just a reflection-come-inspiration of that work. It's never really been more than that; reflections and suggestions on themes and ideas that the DCAU crafted. I'm glad you've enjoyed it. Makes the journey all the more worth while.
