'"DC Nation" Programming Block' News & Discussion (Spoilers)

I could see it happening. I might want TBATB though first.

If they do shorts for TBATB they would essentially be just like the teaser openings.
I agree with you the teasers and cold openings were pre-DC Nation shorts in hindsight but I'd rather they also give James Tucker, Ben Jones, and the rest of that crew the option to do a DTV movie in addition to five or six minute half shorts. Hmm. We know Ben Jones is working on DC Nation, wonder if Tucker is, too. News on his projects have been nil since the series finale.

I'm not sure how I feel about a continuation of Teen Titans after all this time. The shorts are fun but I don't think having a Teen Titans series and Young Justice in production at the same time even with their distinct differences would serve to do anything but under cut one another. The shorts are enough for now and I don't want YJ getting cancelled in favor of more Teen Titans. Especially since Teen Titans already got 65 episodes and YJ may get cut off at 46 if it doesn't get a 3rd season.

Likewise Beware the Batman and Brave and the Bold will not be airing new episodes at the same time but having some shorts or a DTV wouldn't step on Beware's toes. Not that I particularly care about Beware like I care about Young Justice but the jury is still out on that one for me.

DC Comics is releasing a special magazine tie-in to the DC Nation programming block come June 2012. Details are available at The World's Finest.

Cartoon Network has provided new images and videos for the all-new short "Shazamwich," airing during the DC Nation programming block on Saturday, March 17th, 2012. Click here or on the image below for more details.

Comics Alliance has just posted a few images and a clip from the first edition of Lauren Faust's "Super Best Friends Forever!" which premieres this Saturday on DC Nation.

So, this is apparently repurposed from an episode of MAD that aired last year. I am glad it made its way to DC Nation or I would probably never have heard of it.

This needs to be a series. It fills the gap of kiddie DCU that has been missing since Krypto, and it would be refreshing after all the darker stuff like YJ.

Really? That's a little cool and a little disappointing. Cool, because DC Nation gives WBA a chance to pull in material from all over and maybe even their own vault. Imagine the irony if they decided to chop up and make a couple shorts out of that Batgirl CG stuff from "Mitefall!," the series finale of Batman: The Brave and The Bold? And a little disappointing by it being not all 'new' material. Again, we wouldn't know if no one told us for the most part. But still, in principle.

I agree with your opinion about there being a light hearted component but that's essentially what the DC Nation shorts are going to be. CN has what, two comedy series (Regular Show, Adventure Time) and four action series (Ben 10: [insert rebranded title here], Star Wars: Clone Wars, Young Justice, Green Lantern: The Animated Series)? They don't seem that interested in comedy shows... I never really understood why since another other network drew fire from a certain sponge. I think we were talking about this before, but the one I'm holding out for to become a series is Doom Patrol.

I agree with you completely. Then again, we already knew that some of the shorts were not going to be original since some are just Gotham City Imposters ads and Lego Batman clips, as well as the Blue Beetle test footage.

At least Shazamwich seems to have gone relatively unseen until now. In fact, Captain Marvel, Superman, and Flash (along with Cyclops and Iron Man) were also in another MAD cartoon in 2010 titled Superheroes: They're Just Like Us. I imagine the Marvel heroes will keep it from joining DC Nation.

If they are emptying out the vault, maybe they will dust off the Zatanna episode from cartoon Monsoon. I have never been able to track that down.

So CN tends to post the shorts with the GLTAS episode on their TV schedule online. Looks like we're getting another short from DC's World's Funnest next week. And hey, a title for this Saturday's first SBFF short, "Invisible Joy Ride." :)

What are you talking about? CN doesn't make GL, YJ or Star Wars. Nor ThunderCats, Pokémon, Beyblade or NinjaGo for that matter. So CN has a lot of comedies. Gumball is an original though from Europe and they have Johnny Test, MAD, The Looney Tunes Show season 2, Scooby-Doo MI season 2, Total Drama season 4, The Annoying Orange series and Dreamwork's Dragons all coming this year. They greatly under value action animation if anything. They wont even air new Ben 10 or DC Nation in prime time.

Speaking of the time slot. GL got 1.4 with 6-11 last week and YJ got 1.5 after it. More than about a 150,000 drop for both and that is not good news.

Anyhoo... I'm looking forward to SBFF, new GL and new YJ this Saturday.

Nice find!

So, This week is SBFF - Invisible Joy Ride and Shazamwich. Next week is DC's World's Funnest 3 (how many of those are there?) and Plastic Man 2 - The Many and the Fowl.

Man, the West Coast is going to have a hard choice this Saturday: the first SBFF short or the final minutes of a new episode of FiM (of course, that's if the viewer does have The Hub on their cable lineup)?

What are you talking about?
Don't remember, thanks for catching that absurdity.

So far, the indication is 5-6 for the shorts like Plastic Man and Super Best Friends Forever.

Superman of Tokyo 2 is now listed to air with Young Justice on March 31. None yet listed to air with GL.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
