Kickstarter My Heart: Cannon Busters
Cannon Busters is an animated adventure about the value of friendship and just how far one is willing to go to maintain it. If The Wizard of Oz met the Hidden Fortress with influences derived from Escaflowne, hip-hop, and classic RPGs -- you get Cannon Busters, one wild ride of fun, suspense, action, and wackiness. It's a roadshow-style adventure of epic proportions!
Follow the adventures and exploits of S.A.M, a high-end, royal-class friendship droid who's joined by a quirky, discarded maintenance robot and a brash, deadly fugitive. Together, the unlikely trio embarks on an unforgettable journey in a fantastic and dangerous world in search of S.A.M's best friend, the heir to a powerful kingdom under siege.
The story takes place hundreds of years ago in the vast and magical world of Gearbolt. As the centuries passed, the practice of magic became extinct, and many have forgotten its power, regulating it to mere superstition…
Cannon Busters is an animated project created by TV animation producer/director LeSean Thomas. The goal is to produce a 8-10 minute pilot episode (1 act) through Kickstarter. We're looking to you to help us raise, at the very least, the minimum goal of $120,000 (8-10 minutes). If we surpass our minimum goal, our stretch goals will increase the length of the episode by 8-16 minutes, ultimately providing us the funds to create and develop a full 24-minute episode!

LeSean Thomas has contributed to television animation in the United States for over 10 years. His most notable works include Peabody Award-winning series The Boondocks on Adult Swim serving as Co-Director (Season 1) and Supervising Character Designer (Seasons 1 & 2), Nickelodeon's The Legend Of Korra (Book 1) as a storyboard/production artist, and most recently Black Dynamite: The Animated Series as Creative Producer (Season 1) and Supervising Director (Seasons 1 & 2) on Adult Swim.
Recently, Thomas spent several years working abroad in South Korea as an animation production/storyboard artist, honing his skills and developing Cannon Busters while lending his talent to hit shows. He is driven by his passion and enthusiasm for animation production and enjoys sharing his knowledge with the animation & art community online. Drawing from Western and Eastern influences, Thomas's work displays a level of stylistic expression and dynamism that makes him highly distinguishable among his peers. Through his unique vision and your support, he hopes to bring Cannon Busters to life!

I honestly don't understand the financing of animation. All of these projects take over $100,000 to fund something that could be 5-22 minutes. To me that's a huge difference in time and effort- maybe all the effort goes towards things like special effects and limited CGI that bloats the budget. I don't know. I'm also beginning to wonder how well will all these pilots do? Will they actually get off the ground and become features and series or will they get no support and find no channels to air them.
