COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic

Here's a great resource tracking the spread of the virus:

There are now officially 149 cases of the coronavirus in the United States, with 10 people having died from it in Washington State, and now 1 person has passed away in California. That's actually higher than the average "2 to 3% death rate" they're saying (for how many people sick end up dying from this virus), it's actually around 7%, but that's due to the very unusual situation of the nursing home in Washington State that was overrun by the virus.

Wow, 107 deaths in Italy already! (indeed 3%)

Could it be that sick Americans are less likely to go to a doctor than in Europe? Maybe some sick people think they just have the common cold.

Well, I was also sick a few weeks ago and didn't visit a doctor either. I am so glad that's over, I would be a bit worried now.

The first person to die from the virus in California is in Roseville in Placer County which I live a few towns away from.

Number of cases in Portugal up to 6. Ireland also at 6.

Here are some new developments:
- Facebook has closed its Seattle office for the rest of the week after a contractor tested positive.
- The First death of the Coronavirus in Switzerland has been announced.
- The Coronavirus has spread into Texas, in which there is now 12 cases, with the first diagnosed last night.
- New Jersey has confirmed its first case of the Coronavirus.
- New York is up to 22 cases.
- Schools in 13 countries have been shut down.
- Amazon has told its Seattle employees to work at home for the rest of the month.
- Tennessee has confirmed its first case.
- Starbucks is suspending use of reusable cups in its stores.
- Netherlands is now up to 82 cases.
- The U.K. has reported its first death of the Coronavirus.
- Italy is now at 3,296 cases and 148 deaths.
- Cases in South Korea have began to decline.
- Illinois is now at 5 cases.
- Washington State has reported another death, bringing the country’s total number of deaths to 12, eleven of which were in Washington State. Washington State is now at 74 cases.
- The United States is at 212 cases total.

Portugal is now up to 9 cases. San Marino, a microstate within Italy, is now up to 21.

Almost 100.000 cases reported. The virus has been spread to South Africa.

Still no cases in Braga.

Hope can be remote. Or can it be the opposite?

Now Brazil has 8 cases including 2 local transmissions.

Somewhat comic and fan related, many vendors and artists are pulling out of Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con over concerns of COVID-19.

In Seattle they had to shut down the Facebook offices until the end of this week because one of the people working there tested positive.

I can't believe those jag-offs haven't simply canceled that damn convention. Do they have any idea how many hundreds and thousands of people will wind up infected if it takes place? All of the speakers are bowing out anyways and attendance will be low. Just cancel the damn thing already. Comic books aren't important enough to spread a plague over.

If you apply the same logic to every convention, festival, restaurant and public meeting, then the coronavirus will turn into an economic disaster, even outside Italy, Iran, China and the other highly infected countries...

First cases in the Vatican City, Costa Rica, Cameroon and Bhutan.

We're up to 233 cases here in the U.S.A. Starting to look like it's a lost cause, as far as keeping it contained.

EDIT: There are 20 states that have cases of the coronavirus here in the USA. Some of the cases in certain states are just people returning from trips (either overseas or to the east or west coast of the USA). The states with "out of control" hot spots are still Washington, California and now New York state. New York just announced they have 33 people in their state with the coronavirus, and approx. around 4,000 people in "precautionary quarantine" (meaning these are people who aren't sick yet, but they were around someone who had coronavirus).

I know. But that's where we're at.

Now we're at 13 cases, and the virus has spread to Togo.

Still no cases here in Braga, I feel like Porto is becoming Portugal's Milan in this situation

*prays for the people affected with coronaviruses and hopefully can survive this tragic event*

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
