"Finally, last day of school plot twist."

When we last left our favorite group of students at Greendale Community College, they were wrapping up their first year and after being pulled in various directions by Britta and Michelle Slater at the dance, Jeff kissed Annie! What will happen tonight as the gang comes back to school? The second season of Community kicks off a night of all-new comedy on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.

"Anthropology 101" - Season Premiere

Summer is over and the gang regroups at Greendale's anthropology class with guest star Betty White!

Season One talkback

Community proves to be the best comedy on NBC. Betty White was also fantastic.

"This is making me sick." (Takes a swig of urine.)

"Anthropology 101"

"And we're back."

Welcome back, Community. :) The opening with the gang waking up was really cool. I liked the kind of scroll across all their rooms. Very nicely done.

Betty White was great. Since Anthropology is the class everyone is taking, I would have to think they are going to get a new, semi-permanent teacher. They don't have to be in that class every week, but this is like Spanish last year.

The thing with Jeff and Britta went in a direction I didn't expect and turned out to be pretty funny. Jeff seemed to realize it was more than that, but I thought what Starburns had to say about why Jeff started/jointed the study group was a good point.

I don't know if the group has room in their pocket for some "spare Chang" but that was a surprising Gollum performance from Chang when he was he was by himself.

"How about oldwhitemansays: the TV show?"
(group) "No."
"Who would watch that?"

In case anyone was wondering, @oldwhitemansays is a real Twitter account and Troy (;)) was posting before the first day of school. :p

The closing credits rap with Troy and Abed and June (Betty White) was hilarious.

"I'm on the clock for another hour if you want me to do some Batman lines."

Awww no one mentioned Donald Glover's Spider-Man cameo. After campaigning the entire summer for it, it was a funny way to end things and really made me laugh.

And now I'm following it. Thanks!

Jeff takes a trip down memory lane when he runs into a former law firm colleague.

I enjoyed both Rob Corddry as Alan Connor and Drew Carey as Ted. This look at Jeff's life before he ended up at Greendale was cool and I enjoyed seeing him in what he still seems to see as his natural environment. Corddry seems more likely, but I would love to see Carey again.

Alan not telling Jeff what he did showed Jeff who his true friends are, but I was interested by how he was still pretty accepting of it. I was kind of thinking Jeff was going to knock him out.

That Dean Pelton comes up with some weird stuff and "PopandLocktoberfest" certainly joins that list. Chang/Golum seems just desperate to get into the group, he popped and locked for a long time before they finally showed up. Too bad it was all for nothing. :p

I've seen plenty of pictures of skinny Drew Carey, but I think this is the first time I've seen him acting in anything since he lost all that weight. It's funny, but it works for him. I wonder if it was the costume department or himself who picked out that ultra-trim suit he was working.

Popandlocktoberfest was awesome. I kinda felt a pang of sympathy for Chang after working that hard and having it all tossed away at the last moment.

I was kinda hoping @oldwhitemansays would stick around, but Community was never one to dwell on gags it seems, so I'm fine with that.

This season is holding up extremely well so far. I really hope the horrors of CBS comedy Thursday don't end its life prematurely.

The chloroform gag was hilarious this week. As funny as Chang's attempts at joining the group are, I'm concerned that Community is running this joke into the ground. It adds an interesting dimension to the show but Chang channeling his inner Golem feels a bit odd, even for this show.

Rob Corddry was great as Jeff's law buddy, and it was about time we took a look into Jeff's past.

I agree. Chang's a funny character, but they're making him really one-note this season. I'm hoping they move past this quickly. The Gollum gag was funny in the season premiere, but not so much in this week's episode.

Aside from Chang, this season of Community looks to be pretty great, based on the first two episodes. Annie was HILARIOUS in this week's episode, and Betty White was great in the premiere (particularly in the credits bit). I'm really looking forward to the next episode.

It's totally cool to be concerned about something possibly becoming repetitive, but isn't two episodes a little early to declare it actually is?

I actually like the Gollum turn. Show's how serious he is about becoming part of the group. Makes me interested in what his "revenge" is going to be.

Lovin the NBC comedies...

The great thing about Community is that its "so" rich with pop culture. Not in the worn out crude humor FamilyGuy way, but just in general. There are so many lil gold nuggets in this show, that the older you are, the more you'll be able to snatch up. Such an intellectual comedy. Everything just runs so smooth... Really curious to see who's actually going to teach that Anthro-whats it class.

Pierce deals with the death of his mother as the gang comforts him through the ordeal

Loved the Transformers and Evangelion references in Pierce's cult.

Betty White cameos during the credits? Awesome. I hear Abed has a whole subplot in this ep that's all in the background of scenes. I'll have to re-watch it to notice.

Maybe it was a little early. I was happy to see no Gollum gag this week, but I still think they're giving him the most obvious jokes. He's funnier than that.

This week's episode was pretty good. The Annie and Britta subplot had funny moments, and of course Pierce had plenty of funny moments.

Man, this was another great ep, what with so many plot lines occurring at once. My favorite, however, has to be Jeff's reaction to his high cholesterol (with his exchange with the new Anthropology 101 teacher my favorite scene.)

Saw it on Hulu with more attention to the background, and he certainly does have an eventful week:

He helps deliver a baby! (Not sure if there might have been more to it earlier though...)

"The Psychology of Letting Go"

"Why don't we open that question to the floor since I don't know and the book for this class is expensive."

Great to see John Oliver back as Ian Duncan. He's a fun character and I enjoyed his feud with Chang over what happened last season and the whole restraining order thing.

"...which results in... something."

Jeff's issues with having high cholesterol paired with Pierce believing his pretend Buddhist cult was sending his mother to a better place was a fun double story about "Letting Go."

Annie and Britta feuding over the best/most respectful way to raise money was entertaining as was Shirley's reaction to being left out. Her observations of the two of them were pretty funny.

"Yeah, you're both so different. Skinny (w)itches."

Professor Bauer (Betty White) in the Congo explaining Inception to a couple of tribesmen (well, just one, the other hadn't seen it yet :D ) was a hilarious way to end the episode.

I totally missed Abed in the background. Now I need to watch this one again! (I can think of worse things.)

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
