Won't Empress notice that Kim's back?

no because i will kill Kim, with my bare hands!!

*glares at KPT*

okay, just try not to get blood EVERYWHERE...

Also, a notice to you readers out there, I'm going to start dividing this up into different parts, categorized by military campaign. You can consider Entries 1-13 "Part 1: Earth".

*laughs* Ah well, Kim had some interesting moves there...I think she adds diversity...I say she stays for now!

Okay, new entry, but first, spoilers.
A chronicle about the end of the series for the ESUN.

"Operation Final War"

I intend to have it play out a bit like "Godzilla: Final War". If have seen that movie, you may have a general idea of what's going to go on. If you haven't, its still okay. It should be released in spring or summer of 2008.

Quotes from "Operation Final War"

- "General... the damage you have caused to your ship is unfathomable. You will be court-martialed, removed from your position and thrown in the brig for endangering the safety of your ship and crew."

- "Look... her eyes... she hasn't blinked through her entire speech... something is definitely wrong..."

- "This mission will decide the fate of the ESUN. I declare this... Operation Final War."

- "We still have one weapon left... One of power even the Empress cannot truly command... Set our baring towards Rome. It's time to release [Censored]."

Now that that is out of the way, here is the newest entry.

Part 2: Aegis

Entry 14: A Name Describing Any Other Thing Is Not As Sweet…

Gryphus was quite pleased as he stood on the bridge of the Gotengo. He had had his flagship re-outfitted, and now it had the distinguishable bow drill of its predecessor. It was about time to test the true power of the Gotengo as he approached the planet, Aegis. If it weren’t for the data taken from the Elle Ciel’s mainframe before it was scrapped, it would’ve taken the General years, possibly, to find this planet.

“Sir,” reported Lt. Merckel from his position in front of the navigation desk. “Using the data from the Elle Ciel and with hacking in Aegian Internet, we’ve finally finished a profile on the planet.”

“Alright. Shoot.”

”Well, sir, it appears as if “Aegis”, as they call it, is almost identical to Earth, apart from the continental alignment. Many wars have been happening on the planet for at least the last 30 yrs, so arms development has been astounding. The only major difference from Earth is actually their reliance of power within the Armed Forces. While our military is strong down to the very last man, the countries on Aegis seem to rely a lot on super weapons and elite air squadrons.”

“Elite air squadrons… Can you give me names so we know who to look out for?”

“Yes, sir. There’s Ustio’s Galm Sq., Leaseath’s Alect Sq., ISAF’s Mobius Sq., Erusea’s Yellow Sq., Belka’s Ofnir and Grabacr Squadrons Estovakia’s Strigon Sq., Emmeria’s Garuda Sq., Osea’s Wardog, but they’re supposedly dead after they were falsely accused of being traitors, but its said that their ghosts became a squadron called the Demons of Razgriz…”

“Seems like their aces have the same squadron names as ours…”

“I wouldn’t doubt it, sir. Our scientists have found planetary occurrences rarely happen alone. They say it’s quite likely that there can be twin planets, such as Earth and Aegis.”

“I see… interesting… any other aces we have to worry about?

“Uhh… lemme check… yeah, there’s Aurelia’s Gryphus Sq. Yukto-”

“Wait, go back. Did you say Gryphus squadron?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Damn bastards stole my name…”

“But, sir. The scien-”

“I don’t care! Have my plane and the Angel Brigade at the ready. I’m about to have a little chat with the government of Aurelia and their beloved Gryphus Sq.”

- - - - -

“This is Santa Elva District Air Command! We have 6 bogeys inbound! Scramble Gryphus Squadron to intercept!”

Eight light-gray F/A-22A Raptors taxied out to the end of the runway, performing quick aileron checks as they went. This was Aurelia’s illustrious Gryphus Squadron, the squad that destroyed both the Gleipnir and the Leaseath’s prototype Fenrir super fighters, which were only slightly less capable than the General’s. Rather, scratch Gryphus “squadron”. The true power of Gryphus Sq. lay with it flight lead, Gryphus 1, also known as “The Southern Cross.” Without him, Gryphus Sq. was nothing. Good thing none of their enemies knew that.

The roar of jet engines filled the air around Santa Elva, bringing a few citizens out to watch. Their eyes lightened with excitement as they watched their savior, the Southern Cross, leap into the air once again with his comrades to bring safety to Aurelia.

“Crux to Gryphus 1. Continue on vector zero-eight-zero to intercept. 6 unknown bogeys inbound, aircraft type unknown. Use extreme caution, we believe they’re not from Aegis.”

“Gryphus 1, roger.”

- - - - -

“Colonel, we have a message incoming from the bogey craft,” reported an Aurelian Air Force sergeant.

“Alright, put it on speaker phone.”

“*static* This is General Johan Akmola of the Earth Sphere Unified Nations, call sign ‘Gryphus’. I am here to declare war on the planet of Aegis and its nations, but first, I have something to specifically to clear up with you. I wish to destroy your beloved Gryphus Sq. off the face of this planet before the my ship descends into the atmosphere and we launch our invasion.”

“General… This is Colonel Vasquez, commanding officer of the Santa Elva District Air Command. You have your wish. Gryphus Sq. has been sent to intercept you, although I sincerely doubt the Southern Cross will lose.”

“If you’re so certain, I’ll make sure your “Southern Cross” is the first to die.” The line cut out.

“Wait, sir, does this mean we’re at war with aliens?” inquired the sergeant.

“More or less, yes. Send an immediate bulletin to all commanders of state of the Earth Sphere Unified Nation’s invasion. If they’ve mastered space travel, it may take all of us to defeat them.”

- - - - -

“I have a visual on Gryphus Sq. Angels, fall back. I’ll take care on this.”

“Then why’d you bring us along?”

“To observe. I can tell that deep down in your minds, you think that those stunning missiles were actual weapons and that your armor absorbed most of the blow, but you’re about to see the true power of the X-05.”

The General flipped up a small hatch and pressed a small button, arming the LSWM. The bomb bay doors on the bottom of the Fenrir and a 12 ft long missile was lowered down on a launch rod. Gryphus pressed the fire button on his joystick, and the massive weapon was launched at the enemy formation. The Angels watched as the weapon streaked away, and then the sky was filled with light as the device detonated. The entire sky shook violently as the Long-range Shock Wave Missile vaporized the Gryphus Sq., leaving nothing but bits of burning scrap metal.

“Mission accomplished. Return to the Gotengo.”

“General,” mused Forte. “Can I assume that you had us observe this use of tremendous power to compensate for your lack confidence in yourself?”

“I know where you going with this… You’re on leave without pay until further notice…”

Okay, new Entry. Not for those with phobias of bugs.

Entry 15: The Wrath of Megaguirus

After the quick defeat of the Gryphus Sq., the rest of Aurelia crumbled upon the assault of the ESUN. In quick succession, most of the other small countries on the eastern end of the Osean continent surrendered to the Earth forces after witnessing the annihilation of Aurelia and now the General had quite the foothold on Aegis.

The Gotengo and one of its sister ships, the Sarimanok, held above the Sapin capital city of Gran Rugido. Gryphus found himself quite comfortable in the Prime Minister’s office in the Sapin Capitol building. His feet were perched up on the large maple desk and some pointless drabble played on the old radio in a language that sounded a lot like Spanish. The General turned off the radio as he heard a knock at the door and one of his sergeants walked through the door.

“Sir,” he reported. “Dr. Kupchenko has finished preparations on Dimension Tide. He requests your presence for its first test firing.”

“Alright, I’ll be there in a bit.”

- - - - -

“Dimension Tide charging process complete.”

“Fire at will.” Dr. Kupchenko opened up a panel on the control station and pressed the large red button underneath it. The large glowing sphere of plasma energy that had collected in front of the massive Dimension Tide fired at its target, a factory on the outskirts of Gran Rugido.

When the blast impacted, it created a miniature black hole, swallowing the factory entirely and many smaller surrounding structures. As the dust cleared, all that was visible was a crater. Where the plasma had impacted, a few ripples in the air were visible, but no one was really paying attention as they celebrated their accomplishment. It was thought to just be some residual heat, but the black hole had actually caused a rip in the space-time continuum. Out of the rip flew a large dragonfly that headed directly for the nearby cover of the forest. The ancient dragonfly, known as a “Meganula”, laid a single egg in the underbrush before returning through the rip.

Out from behind a tree, a young boy named Mario poked his head out to look at the egg. He had watched the firing of Dimension Tide and then the Meganula from the forest. He picked up the football-sized egg, inspecting it in his hands as he began to walk back towards his house in the suburbs of Gran Rugido.

As Mario walked home, he began to think. There was no way his mother was going to let him keep this thing, and if he hid it, she would surely find it. Knowing she’d dispose of it anyways, he decided to save her the trouble and dumped it into the sewer, leaving it to float in the filthy water.

- - - - -

A few days later…

The egg hatched, and a swarm Meganulons crawled out. The insects grew from about 10 in. long to 5 ft. in a matter of hours and they began to come out of the sewer under the cover of night. Many helpless citizens of Gran Rugido were attacked and devoured by the giant cricket-like insects. After a substantial filling of human flesh, most of the Meganulons shed their hard outer shell, becoming flying Meganulas.

The Meganulas laid their eggs throughout the sewer system, but one egg in particular was special. Its shell had a much higher sheen than the others and only one being was contained inside the egg. This was the egg that would become the queen that would protect the hive, a Meganula of unmatched power and size: Megaguirus.

As the sun rose, the Meganulons and Meganulas retreated back into the sewer. The authorities that were rushed to the scene were dumbfounded as there were no signs of the “giant man eating insects” that were called in by a few frantic citizens that had watched the attacks. But the insects were not done, as the sun was high in the sky and the people of Gran Rugido went on with their lives, the insects began digging a network of tunnels under the city as part of a bigger plan.

- - - - -

“General, I’ve been monitoring the civilian news broadcasts, and there’s reports of man eating insects that come out during night. While I highly doubt this, it may be best for your safety that you return to the Gotengo.”

“Giant insects? Sounds interesting, but I’d rather not risk get eaten alive while I sleep.”

“Yes, sir. There’s a Pelican waiting just outside for you.” Gryphus followed his sergeant out of the Capitol and to the Pelican that sat on the grass field out front. Dusk was just beginning to fall as the pair entered the Pelican drop ship. It was eerily quiet, but the reported insects could’ve been anywhere.

The drop ship fired its engines and hovered a foot off of the ground before jetting away into the darkening sky, towards the Gotengo which hovered lazily above the city. Gryphus peered out the window and watched as the street lamps began to flicker into existence. The countries of Aegis were proving to be of little resistance. The General needed a good battle to keep his mind straight, but there had been a certain lack of that, and with learning that the Empress had caught a severe cold wasn’t helping at all.

- - - - -

As dark fell over Gran Rugido, the Meganulas once again emerged from their underground hideaway, although tonight, they had a different agenda. The hordes flew above the capital, snagging up the late night clubbers and using the massive stingers on the ends of their tails to drain away their life-force energy. The energy was stored in their body as if they were a battery as they conglomerated around the queen.

The queen, Megaguirus, was in theory, born dead. It lay at the bottom of a large, man-made lake in the central park of Gran Rugido. The hordes of Meganulas would come to her, and stab her with their stingers and dump all the life-force energy they had drained into their queen. As the energy in the queen’s body increased, so did the size of her body.

Rose tinted eyes peered into the black depths of the blanketing waters of the lake. A maw, laced with dagger teeth, roared into the seas. The birth of a new demon was to lie against the frailty of man's mind. Wide eyes watched as the surface of the glossy lake exploded. Rising from the showering droplets of rain the mammoth queen, Megaguirus, showed itself. Immediately the insect god began its destructive rampage. Flapping its leathery wings at blinding speeds, the monster dashed through the city. Buildings crumbled, windows crashed, and the tunnels dug by the Meganulons collapsed, sinking the city into the sea. The wake of death widened against the raven wings of the bug.

- - - - -

Gryphus stared down at the ancient killer through the view screen of the Gotengo.

“Such raw, instinctual power…” he murmured. “I must control it…” The General paced back and forth along the bridge, pondering his plan of attack. “Sound general quarters.” The lights on the bridge dimmed front the bright white to a fainter blue. A siren wailed, signaling the personnel on the flying warship to battle stations. “Lieutenant, alert the Sarimanok. Our attack begins immediately. Bring us to flank speed and remove all weapon locks. Gentlemen, we’re going insect hunting.”

“Ahem”

“… and Ladies…” The Gotengo lurched as its fusion reactor engines kicked in, rapidly accelerating the vessel to an impressive speed. Gry watched through the view screen as the Sarimanok followed suit, but a problem had arose; their target had already disappeared.

“Radar to full power. I want to know where that damn bug is before it does.” Gryphus stared out the front view screen intently, searching for his target. How could something that big just disappear? ‘It must be adept at hiding and ambushing’ the General thought.

“Sir, found it. 2200 yards ahead of us. 17 degrees down.”

“Fire Maser.” The bow drill on the Gotengo sparkled with electrical energy. There was a flash of light as the Maser fired from the drill, strafing the ground where to gunnery sergeant had reported. Megaguirus screeched as she leaped off of the ground to avoid the lightning bolt. It tracked her path, but her speed allowed her to get away with taking damage.

The ancient dragonfly flew high up into the air, inspecting her “prey” as she saw them. Her rose eyes magnified her vision, giving her a good picture of both of them. The queen screeched before diving down on one of them. Her tail stinger punctured the thick armor of the Sarimanok, and made a lucky hit on the reactor. Megaguirus began draining away the power from the vessel. Before they could lock the missiles onto the bug, she had already drained enough power to stop the warheads from firing.

“Fire Maser again! Get that god damn insect of our allies!” The Gotengo opened fire with its Maser again, and this time it looked as if it would hit, but they had great underestimated Megaguirus’s speed yet again. The insect dislodged its stinger and evaded the Maser, and the bolt hit the Sarimanok with its full force. The bolt burned straight through the armor plating and striking the magazine.

“Dammit to hell…” Gry swore as the Sarimanok exploded, with what was left of it raining down on the city. With the extra power from the Sarimanok’s reactor, Megaguirus was now even faster than before. The Gotengo unleashed a fury of missiles and shots from its smaller Electron Particle cannons, but the ancient insect was much too fast and every shot missed its mark.

“Dammit. Cease fire,” the General ordered. The insect danced around the craft, gradually getting closer. “Yes, that’s it… come to papa…” Megaguirus lashed out with its tail at the Gotengo, but it hit the one part of the craft it wouldn’t want to hit: the bow drill.

“Take this god damn thing for a spin.” The drill whirred around, taking the ancient beast with it. Megaguirus was pummeled into the ground multiple times before the torque of the drill sheared off the end of its tail. The once great predator lay on the ground in downtown Gran Rugido, unconscious.

“Have a mind control probe implanted in that before it awakens, I don’t want to have to deal with it again… Oh, and have the shipyards back on Earth make two new battlecruisers to replaced the Sarimanok and charge the cost to the citizens of Sapin…”

I prefer to go with the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." So, if the Gotengo and all of our other weapons are doing their jobs just fine, there is no reason to replace them. End of story. :p Besides, who's writing this? Since I'm the author, I get the final say on what weapons I put in this.

does anybody ever really read the "employee hand books" that they are given when they start a job?
