Eva throws around religious imagery because it looks cool, and some fans seem to think that it's actually a deep series because they find some deep interpretation that's not really supposed to be there. Eva's just crap that some people think is "TEH BEST EVAR!!!1" Blue Gender is actually entertaining to watch, while I found that Eva's more of a chore to watch. It's somewhat enjoyable, but there is no deep meaning, it looks like the creator was making it up as he went along, and all the hype made it into the most disappointing anime I've ever seen. Blue Gender is actually deep. It's probably the darkest series I've ever seen. It'll never be on Toonami, the violence just can't be avoided, but maybe we can hope for an AS airing (without the original closing credits, definately!)
