April Fools 2012 Talkback

I enjoyed Captain Horatio Magellan Crunch and Gene Shalit.
Also the "Sent using Toon Zone."

I had to look at the calender twice. I thought I had the wrong day or something.
Really slow start.
I even encoded "april fools" in a thread because I wasn't sure it was really going on.
Things were starting to pick up late in the day, but in the end I didn't even change my avatar.

Unfortunately my sense of humor was clouded over and I kept thinking up "edgy" ideas for threads that probably wouldn't have gone over too well.
Not my funniest day.

I forgot how insane the internet gets on April Fools. It was a mess. Fun though.

How did Starbro miss all of this?!

Yeah, this is the 2nd year in a row that I had to miss out on April Fool's. Last year I was on a road trip and spent much of the day in the car with no internet access, and this year I was floored by seasonal allergies and wasn't really up to it. But I did lurk here for a few minutes, and it looked like fun. It was nice that I got a mention in the fake Toonzone Animated Series. I personally would have cast myself as the annoying neighbor who never shuts up.

I was glad to see Kiddington come back for the day. I miss that guy around here.

This was my first April Fool's Day here at TZ, and it was enjoyable, for the most part. There were some parts where it sllowed down, but it was mostly fun. Highlights:

Complaint Dept. (some of Aquadementia's responses were great)
The whole bomb fiasco
Lots and lots of Sun Drops
The Pizza thread
Arrested Development quotes
Time Traveler's Conference

Basically, I just thought it was fun to act like an idiot for a day without the risk of being banned.

I don't think I even opened up any topics here yesterday, so I never saw any of the pranks here.

What did happen is that I was so cautious as to not take anything even remotely serious. This caused me to ignore all of the topics on Toonami returning on various forums. I was so convinced that it was merely some article that somebody made up saying that Toonami would return sometime in the future, because something like that would be bound to spread around like wildfire with how nostalgic everybody is for Toonami.

I didn't even bother hovering over any of those topics, because I was so convinced that was all it was. I can't believe it - I actually missed out on something that was real (or official, anyway). I got inadvertently pranked because I was being too cautious. Lol.

We had a plan this year but it got derailed. I would have started more silly topics at midnight, but I had to get up early and ran out of energy.

Hey Starbro, glad to see you're feeling better!

On another note, why is everyone saying yesterday was weak compared to other April Fool's Days? This was my first here as a member, and I thought it was chaotic. What happens on an active April Fool's Day?

P.S. I also had fun trolling all of you with my anti-Scrappy thread and Ren & Stimpy thread. :D

I personally can't stand April Fools' Day - I come to this board for legitimate animation discussion, so a day devoted to just being completely insane and random really annoys me. It's always frustrating to pop on to the site on April 1 and remember "Oh right, I have to come back tomorrow if I actually want to talk about anything..."

I can't help it - I'm not a prankster. My sense of humor just isn't that anarchic. We need a day devoted to MST3K-style riffing; that'd be more up my alley.

This year had insane amounts of Sun Drop. And whats sad for me is: I honestly had never heard of Sun Drop before.

This was a much better year for me personally, but overall, I agree with that this was the worst April Fool's Day overall at least since I started lurking. Just seemed more dead than the usual year. I blame it being Sunday. I sleep in on Sundays, and then I went to a movie around three, so I was only on the site for about two hours. My Last Airbender 2 thread didn't really explode like I hoped it would, but it got some responses, which was better than last year, when no responded to my topic. My other thread, in Nicktoons, had one reply saying I was the one fooled for reposting a press release... even though it was a press release I wrote. I also enjoyed pretending I was a stuck-up brony who hates the show no matter what the quality of the episode is.

I've already got some ideas for next year though! ... hopefully, I remember them. :p

Check out 2008's April Fools Day. What started off as various smaller silly topics somehow merged into the most epic April Fools Day roleplaying juggernaut Toon Zone has ever seen that lasted up until midnight. It was especially epic because all of the forums were given complete April Fools makeovers that really contributed to the wacky atmosphere.

It just goes to show you that if you can get all the right people involved, available, and in the mood, April Fools Day on Toonzone has potential to be absolutely spectacular. Unfortunately, no April Fools day since has ever come even remotely close to matching it, IMO.

Still can be fun, though.

I thought this year was kind of boring TBH. I guess the Sun Drop thing was kind of funny, but other than that nothing really stood out to me.

I had fun with my post in the "Why animated movies suck today" thread. I still can't believe someone would actually say that bad movies were hard to find in the 90s and before, despite not only is it very far from the truth, but ALL the worst movie ranking sites I've been to have movies from the 80s/90s taking up at least half of the list. Eh, but what do I expect from youtube comments, either they're stupid (or to sound nicer do very little research or like to spew out crap out of nowhere for their own, yet weird fulfillment) or they wear their nostalgia glasses WAY too tightly, in most cases, it seems to be the latter. Anyway, april fools here seems to be fun.

Overall around the world, were movies in total made more frequently in the '80's and '90's than now?

Whoops, I forgot to mention my personal favorites:

*Sundrops- At first, I didn't think this was funny. By each page click however, my grin kept getting bigger and bigger.

*Gene Shalit- :p Pretty sure people know why. He's a wizard of course!

*The Bronie War- Honestly I was attending to make it to 100 posts, but by 40 I got tired and ended it early. Don_East put up a very worthy fight though and destroyed us.

*Bill Cosby Anime- I posted this originally not just for it to be incredibly random, but I was surprised that the anime forum was lacking in the wacky department. I loved this thread just because of how incredibly descriptive people went in details about it.

Yearly Too Nami- ...I got trolled hard, nuff said. ;)

*Pizza Thread- Originally started with...a joke that wouldn't be allowed as a title originally. I took it out of the Hiimdaisy Persona 4 parody and decided it would be my daily joke. ..Later on it got turned into pizza and the entire thread went nuts.

*All the gas bomb threads and pretty much everything else that stood out.

It was definitely a weaker year, though I had fun regardless. It was that quiet year where only about 15-20 people were going on a rampage. :p

This was my first April Fool's on Toonzone, so I was kinda...freaked out, I guess, to see all those false threads. I'll admit it, I fell for a few of them. :p

As a joke, I was trying to make it look like my account was deleted, but I doubt it worked.
At first, I tried to make it looked like I was banned, but unfortunately, you can't use "Banned" as a user title. (Dammit)

Oh the good ol days when that was possible :p.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
