I can’t believe it took me this long to do this but I’m making a thread to discuss all anime dubbed news. I figured we needed a thread just English dub all in one. I hope people enjoy this thread

Dubs > subs

Most of the dub cast from Log Horizon will return for the upcoming English dub of the anime's third season.

According to the Netflix Malaysia Twitter account, Edens Zero will premiere on Netflix August 26th.
Here’s the sauce.

I like that you created this thread, now I don't have to create random "is this thing dubbed yet" threads.

General question - has Funimation or Sentai said anything about getting back to a normal schedule yet with the news of Texas opening things 100%? I know there's quite a bit of controversy in that decision, I'm just curious to see how the Texas-based dub operations respond.

I haven't heard anything for either licensor, but I would really hope that they aren't going to have people come in and out of recording studios anytime soon. That would just be a really bad idea when it would be endangering the health and safety of their workers. I would hope that they'd wait until their whole staff, not just the voice actors, are able to get vaccinated before even considering going back to regular studio recording sessions.

No problem, man. Honestly I was gonna create this last year but I don’t know why I didn’t but hey, better late then never.

With Funimation, they are opening but only for the people that can’t do remote recording.

That is a bit concerning and disappointing. I was hoping that they'd wait until their staff was vaccinated. At least it is limited to those who can't do remote recording and hopefully they'll make sure that recording in studios is as safe a possible.

Funimation announces new dub episodes for this week including Dr. Stone and Fire Force.

Nowadays I think Modern English dubs of anime are still pretty good, despite the fact they are optional with Streaming. All it comes down to is the dubbing studio and the actors involved.

I also think it’s pretty awesome that English dubs are produced at faster rate than in previous years, where it used to take a year or two for it to be made, whereas nowadays dubs come a few weeks after the Japanese, 3-6 Months later, and Sometimes even same day dubs(Funimation).

I personally enjoy watching shows more in my native language rather than having to read subtitles and I think the voice actors perform just as good as they would for a domestic cartoon. I know that anime dubbing is a different animal from voice acting the original language and that makes it even harder and it's a shame they get paid way less than for doing domestic cartoon voice acting. Nowadays, the way anime is distributed is a reverse of 20 years ago. In ye olde days, dubs were easy to access on cable, while tracking down the tapes for a subbed release at Blockbuster could be difficult as most of those tapes would only include the dub. Now, you can stream most subtitled anime for free on Crunchyroll, but have to go through Funimation's paywall to watch dubs.

What gives dubs the horrible reputation is the old dubs. Just discovered the dub for the Captain Harlock film Arcadia of My Youth and that dub was a crime against humanity. It was apparently done by an 80s company called Celebrity Home Entertainment. Complete hackjobs such as the 80s Nausicaa butcher job Warriors of the Wind is another crapsterpiece. Even nostalgic dubs like Voltron are very hard to watch in the 21st century. Really, the death of 4kids was the death of dub hate as One Piece seemed to be the very last truly dreadful dub I can remember as non 4kids 2000s dubs tended to be really good (Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Yu Yu Hakusho).

Winter 2021 was such a packed season that Funimation still can't get all the acclaimed series yet. Wonder Egg Priority is the anime Cloverworks actually put love and care into and a lot of people probably want to see it dubbed.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
