A new Digimon Series!!!

I finished watching Digimon Adventure 2020 this past weekend. It is not as good as the 1999 series.

Case in point, the 1999 series had more character development with their ensemble cast. The 2020 series was the Tai and Agumon show with the rest of the cast as background scenery. I noticed that in episode after episode.

Having said that there are a few things I did like about the 2020 series:
  1. Leomon he lives!!! This time around the show runners didn't kill off this ultra cool digimon.
  2. The children were allowed to ride their critters into battles. Nice concept.
  3. At the series conclusion the digimon stayed with their human companions.
  4. The end credit sequences rocked. Some of them did anyway.

Well, if they could do a continuation of Adventure and Adventure 02, then why can't they do a reboot, or at least a continuation, of Frontier? That would be interesting to see.
As interesting as that would be, I don't think that a continuation of Frontier would be possible. It wouldn't be impossible to do, but everything was tied up nicely by the end to where I couldn't see a new series with the same characters. More importantly, I don't think Frontier is as successful or recognizable as the Adventure series. I don't know if it did better in Japan, but it isn't one of the more popular series among western fans from what I can tell. I don't know if I can see them revisiting any older series that isn't tied to Adventure or the Adventure cast.

I'm still kind of surprised that we're getting a new Digimon series not related to Adventure. I know that the reboot series hasn't been well received among fans, but I kind of expected them to do either a sequel series or maybe a new take on the Adventure 02 cast. The franchise has been relying so heavily on Adventure nostalgia for ages that I wasn't expecting a different series. You could maybe argue that they're still milking Adventure nostalgia with the Adventure 02 movie, but those characters aren't as overexposed by comparison, so giving them some spotlight attention with a movie sounds potentially interesting.

Even though I'll try to keep up with the new series, I should try to finish the Adventure: series one of these days too. I kind of lost interest around the time where everyone was getting their Ultimate forms. It wasn't bad, but it was just more action packed than I expected from a Digimon series and didn't really do much for me beyond having more battles. It didn't sound like it changed that much, but I still might enjoy the series. I really like Adventure Tri and that seems to be mixed at best among fans too.

Is anyone know when Untitled Digimon Adventure 02 film?

Is will be this year 2021 or next year 2022?

However, it’s unknown at this time where it will air (if at all), or what the writing will be like.

In any case, they better not try that “you don’t know Japanese” stuff, like Saban Brands did with Digimon Xros W…er, “Digimon Fusion”…

*And for the record, it wasn’t the show’s (dub) name that concerned me, or the fact that some of the characters were given different names (for example, “Taiki” being renamed “Mikey”), it was just the fact that what I mentioned above happened, even though the complete Japanese series is available legally on Crunchyroll, and viewers would notice this major difference between the two versions. In other words, it happened right in front of everyone, making the dub an example of “They Just Didn’t Care” (which has been renamed “Creator Apathy”).

Wow, I'm shocked they are keeping the original soundtrack for the dub, this makes the Pokemon Anime Dub look terrible in comparison.

8/30 Just to provide a new update the entire dub is currently on Hulu.

I hope the new Digimon anime gets dubbed into English. If I am wrong, why everything in the Digimon franchise outside of the Adventure stuff is skipped as far as the English dub is concerned?

I am going to be honest here, it is like Digimon and Pokemon switched places here. While Pokemon finally let Ash go, and have a new exciting series in Horizons with new protagonist, Digimon suddenly just can't let the Adventures time line go.

Honestly, that's been the case since at least Digmon Adventure Tri. They've been relying on the Adventures nostalgia for a long time, so this isn't a new development. They still have some new series like with Ghost Game and this newly announced Beatbreak, but with Adventure Tri, Last Evolution Kizuna, the Adventures reboot and the Adventure 02 The Beginning, the focus on Adventures is still quite strong. I don't think that this is necessarily a bad thing. I did enjoy Adventure Tri. I did lose interest in the Adventures reboot after awhile though. Even this Adventures Beyond promo was pretty cool. I almost thought that it was a tease for another Adventures movie instead of an end for the series' 25th anniversary celebration. The Adventures stuff has been more successful than their other more recent series too, or at least I've heard that has been the case, so that's a big reason why they keep making more Adventures series and they probably will continue to do so. It is the most iconic Digimon series.
