And this is after I saw this film for the second time this summer. I read this story and man, does it really make ya think of Ellie. She lived a good life and like this young girl, never really had the chance to live out her adventure. I hope that the family of young Colby will continue to cope with their daughter's passing. May she forever spread her wings and take to the skies.

I appreciate that Pixar isn't flogging this for the PR value, partially because that would be tacky and partially because they'll no doubt be deluged with similar requests (not all legitimate).

I also would not be surprised if it were Pete Docter himself or one of the other Pixar brain trust members who made the visit.

The very first post on the first page. This isn't the talkback for UP, but the thread for the good deed Pixar did for a terminally ill child.

This gives me a whole new level of respect for Pixar. Now I'll definately go to all their movies, wether they look interesting to me or not.

A child's ability to accept death is heartbreaking yet awe-inspiring.

The good die young, as they say. Maybe we adults need to take a look at our children and emulate their courage and strength a little.

I heard about this story last week and it had me in tears. Colby was such a brave little girl.

One of the big plot points in Up is how Ellie manages to inspire Carl (and, indirectly, Russel) to chase their dreams and live life to the fullest even after she's gone. I like to think that that message helped comfort Colby and her family. I know I will definitely think of her whenever I see Up from now on!
