  • "Characters don't become tax write offs". I'll remember this to myself and I'll keep saying it because nothing in entertainment is going to be permanent. This is with any IP under copyright or trademark. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit was brought out of retirement for example. What about Apu or any other famous character that was "retired", shelved, or fallen out of use? Only if there is a good idea worth telling.
Can we all agree that .Max is a dumb name for Warner Brothers Discovery's streaming service? HBO Max made sense, it's HBO, but more. The name Max by itself just sounds like half a name, or that you're talking about a guy named Max.
Personally, I hate seeing Christmas commercials in October. At least wait until after Thanksgiving, for crying out loud.
For a while now, I've known that among modern day fans of The Addams Family, no one cares about Pugsley, but Burger King's current Addams Family tie-in deal for Halloween truly says it.

Christina Ricci did her job too well; it was her portrayal of the character that shifted her from Wednesday to WEDNESDAY, turning what was once a minor character into a major star.

All it would take is the right actor and talented set of writers to do the same for Pugsley, though I can't say when they'd get the chance..

I also find it weird that Uncle Fester doesn't have a menu item; he's always been a fan favorite character until recently.
Today (October 10) would have been The Hub's fourteenth year on the air.
Could everyone please stop with the "Disney should buy Cartoon Network" rhetoric? I don't like what's happened over on Max recently either, but Disney talking over CN wouldn't solve anything.

Perhaps Max should have a Hulu portal if it's own, since there are so many Cartoon Network shows streaming on Hulu already.

I agree. As much as I don't like how WBD treated CN either, I don't want to let Cartoon Network go under to be part of Disney. All you're doing is killing any competition and companies like Disney will take advantage of the kids and family market, because they literally had no competition.

Yeah, however, I do think members want to play for fun and they didn't means to be in a real life. This forum gets bored sometime and we want fun.
Bugs Bunny Builders episodes were supposed to air in August until WBD pulled them at the last minute. The same thing happened with Craig of the Creek. It feels like sabotage and I wish I knew the answer. If they are still doing tax write offs, it is just frustrating. I don’t want to be left in the dark like this.

It's not a tax write off, nor is it sabotage. Things like this happen. You're worrying over nothing.

One thing we should both agree on is that Cartoon Network and Boomerang's scheduling are inconsistent. New Looney Tunes (which got shafted to streaming) was already airing across the globe while American audiences were waiting to see new episodes drop onto to the streaming service. It wasn't until 2020 that the show completed its official run despite production concluding in 2018.
I don't like how YouTube has been pushing for hour long+ videos because now it wants to be television. I don't need for a YT to be running in the background while I work or do chores. That's what plain old TV is for.

Indeed. I still don’t understand how many hourly long YouTube videos gets millions upon millions of viewers.

    It mystifies me.

Most of the long form people I'm familiar with only put out 5 or 6 videos a year, so when it drops their fans come running. Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't think I'm following anyone who just does YouTube as a hobby anymore.

YouTube has gone corporate. That's why they're now being bombarding us with ad breaks every 3-5 minutes that keep getting longer. They're all about sponsors and sponsorship now.

Bill Demaschke, the new head of animation at WBD has stated publicly that the Looney Tunes IP will NOT be leaving Warner Bros., so we can finally put that particular fear to bed.
You were right and I was wrong. Whatever I was fearing about in the past was uncalled for. I do wish things get better in Hollywood soon.

I was completely wrong for fearing about possible write offs. I even feel stupid for thinking Pepé was going to be a write off making his perma-ban real. I feel stupid about it. You are right. I just want to enjoy what is there now.

@awinger24 WBD cannot write Pepe off because their shorts are old and it is longer enough to beyond the time limit.

WBD don't abandon Pepe outside of Max.

Grammar aside, I believe this. And all of this happened under Ann Sarnoff. Because of the regime change, I think things definitely slowed down and WBD can care less at how their IPs should be modernized and PC. The new Beetlejuice movie looks unhinged and fun.
I've decided to adopt a new policy regarding U.S. animated films; if the title contains a number higher than 2, I'm just going to skip it.

Why be angry at Velma for race swaps? The characters on Velma were so out of character that they might as well not even be the Scooby Gang. Please lose me with that MAGA bull jive.

I'm staying out of politics that is involved with movies and TV shows, so it is not first nor last shows or movies that you see a gender changes or a race changes, and studios want to make shows and movies more represent to everyone.

Be mindful, political discussion is frowned in this forum but whichever discussion are up to you.

To clarify: I don't care about race swaps. At all. Not even a little. It only matters to me if the writing is of high quality, the characters are likable, and the overall product is entertaining and well made.
I'm sick of hearing people complaining about "Woke Disney". If you're going to be angry at Disney, be angry that the Mouse House seems to be out of fresh out of original ideas. That's far more upsetting to me than black fairies and mermaids. Talk about misdirected anger.
Unfortunately, if you're a Disney fan but don't like pointless sequels, this won't be a good time for you.

I don't mind sequels, it's the live action remakes that I'm very concerned about. At least watching Once Upon A Studio will be my antidote.
The TV ad for the Disney+, Hulu, Max bundle doesn't show any clips of Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny. The only cartoon clip is of Bluey, which isn't even owned by Disney. What's wrong with this picture?
I wish that people would stop saying that Boomerang is competing with MeTV Toons. Warner Brothers is a partner/contributor to MeTV Toons. That's like saying that Checkers/Rally's is competing with Tater Boy, the potato company that supplies their French fries.
Name one studio, brand or company that has gone bankrupt as a result of embracing diversity. Just one. I'll wait.
Hey, internet: Leave Primos alone! All of this faux outrage over this show is overblown to the point of being laughably absurd. Most people don't even know what they're supposed to be upset about. Primos is airing, whether you like it or not. Watch the show or don't, but stop acting like this kid's cartoon show wronged you in some way.

(groans) I cannot stand these type of brainrot responses from those people.

Recently, I remember there is one Youtuber (not gonna say who it is) made a video about how this one PBS Kids show from 20 years ago is better than Primos despite the show not even out yet.

I can't help but cringe at this type of crap because they're scrapping the bottom of the barrel at this point.

Exactly. You're not going to stop Primos from airing. Either watch the show or don't, but it's too late to be bemoaning the show's existence.

The clips that have been released so far have been really fun, and this includes one of the songs. I'm still very much looking forward to it.
I am so tired of all the negativity. Can we have some good news about the entertainment industry for a change?
I think that Regular Show and Phineas and Ferb should both stay gone. Both shows ended in a high note and bringing them back would likely negate the impact that the finales had. Although I was never a fan of P&F myself.

I liked Phineas and Ferb although it kind of stayed off my radar because I wasn't a usual Disney viewer.

Got back into it and it's fun. It isn't as repetitive as I remembered it. Probably one of my favorite Disney shows.

I liked Phineas and Ferb, but think it should be allowed to just be a thing that already happened and aired, let the reruns be enjoyed. I've been enjoying Hamster and Gretel, and really hope P and F coming back doesn't take away from that.

Cartoon Network is dead, and it is it's own parent company who delivered the final blow.

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
