"Sofia The First is one of the biggest shows to come out of Disney Junior. It’s not surprising that, in an era where shows are rebooted and revived, it would make a comeback. That’s definitely the case with Sofia The First: Royal Magic, the sequel series to the Disney Junior show Sofia The First. With the series coming out May 25, 2026, we have the official trailer. Let’s talk about it.

First off, here’s a history lesson. Sofia The First is a Disney Junior show that ran from November 18, 2012 to September 8, 2018. The series focuses on a young village girl named Sofia, who becomes a princess when her mother Miranda marries King Roland of Enchancia. Throughout all four seasons, she went on all sorts of adventures with her family and friends. The new series picks up after the finale. Sofia attends the Charmswell School Of Magic, where she learns how she’s the most powerful princess in the realm. She attends the school with her new friends Layla, Camilla, and Zane to master her skills."

Thanks for putting this up

Some of the currently unnamed characters seen in the trailer include Thandi, Mayari, Farhad, and Linh.

James will be voiced by Yonas Kibreab. He previously worked with Craig Gerber on Firebuds, where he voiced Bo during the final few episodes of season 3.

Julie Nathanson voices Ms. Nettle in the series, replacing Megan Mullaly and Anna Vocino.

Here's a video for Teacher Appreciation Week with Yvette Nicole Brown, the voice of Lady Saddlespur in Sofia The First: Royal Magic, where she promotes this educational initiative. What's interesting is with how this is on the Disney YouTube channel, and not the Disney Junior YouTube channel.

Here are more shorts for Sofia The First: Magical Friends. You have one with Clover and one with both Zane and Delvin.

Here's the "Time To Shine" song from Sofia The First: Royal Magic. I love it.

Matthew Lamb will voice Prince Delvin in Sofia The First: Royal Magic. He voiced Harry in seasons 2-3 of Firebuds.

Zaria is one of the new characters in Sofia The First: Royal Magic, being Zane's sister. As confirmed by storyboard artist Kelsey Wooley on Instagram stories, she'll be voiced by Eva Ariel Binder, the voice of Addy from Stillwater.

This picture was taken by Matthew Lamb, the voice of Prince Devin in the show, during the red carpet premiere. Rapunzel in the series is voiced by Belle Adams.

It looks original series writer Laurie Israel is on the show.

We have a sneak peek.

This interview with Ariel Winter shows a clip of everyone being surprised that Sofia can talk to Pepper.

The first episode of Sofia The First: Royal Magic is on YouTube.

Great to see this show have not lose a step. And Craig Gerber still got it. The shorts did scare me though, I was worried this show was going to be 4th wall breaking talking to the audience like Mickey's Clubhouse, and turned out that is just for the shorts. It is a regular series like the original. Thankfully.

Binging it, does hurt it a bit in realizing some repeated plot. For example "Royal Family Picnic" "Green Eyed Monster", those are almost the exact same episodes.

I love all the new characters, and to see the old characters. I am glad Amber and James are not completely written off the show, and Cedric still being Cedric, though I wonder will we ever see his niece.

Though I have some thoughts and theories of the overall plot and the villains we might see down the line that were mentioned by Rapunzel in the first episode. Are in the students secretly working for one of those villains. (there is one short haired girl that has barely talked in the first eight episode, I have my eye on her)

If I can get back to the "Green Eyed Monster", I have two theories with Zane here. They have empathis the jealous sibling in two of these episodes, if you remember the final villain in the original series, she used sibling jealous to corrupt someone to do their bidding, could one of these villains that Rapunzel mentioned in the first episode, maybe try to do that to Zane.

And / or Zane could play a role in a Azurine / Prisma reconcile episode. Zane can relate to both sisters, like Azurine, and like Prisma he is the sibling with the jealousy issues, he could be a mediator in that especially with his magic mood instrument.

Anyway we better get a Azurine / Prisma reconcile episode, Someone remind Craig Gerber that is a loose end that needs to be resolved.

The show is number 1 on Disney Plus.

I found this interesting TV Insider interview with Ariel Winter, where the interviewer brings up Vor and the EverRealm. I think this is the first time in which an official interview actually mentions a season 4 development. Ariel's response is basically a non answer. She acknowledges it, but then moves on. I'm pretty sure this is indicative of Disney not wanting to do this Mystic Isles stuff anymore.

Some very early concept of Sofia from Phillip Light, who apparently did character designs for The Proud Family, have been shown. In his first Instagram post, he put Sofia in Sailor Moon like and Lolita school outfits. He then shows off more designs of her in aprons for more casual activities. He shows more of an old school school girl design for the third post.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
