"“Sofia The First: Royal Magic” Coming In 2026"
"Back in November 2022 (fittingly during Sofia the First’s 10th anniversary), it was announced that a spinoff series taking place at Royal Prep would be in development. We didn’t know much about it other than that series creator Craig Gerber would return to create the new show. Well, it seems things have changed, given that the new show is called “Sofia The First: Royal Magic”, and doesn’t involve Royal Prep. Let’s see what it’s about.
“Royal Magic” is a sequel series taking place after Sofia The First. In the series, Sofia (still voiced by Ariel Winter) attends the Charmswell School For Royal Magic. This school will help princesses and princes learn to further their magical and royal education. Unlike the original show, which was composed of 22-24 minute episodes, this series will go for 2 11 minute segments. It’s mainly to keep up with a modern audience and its evolving tastes. In addition to Craig Gerber returning, we have Krystal Banzon (writer and co-story editor on Firebuds) as story editor and co-executive producer, Kris Wimberly (storyboard artist on Elena Of Avalor and episodic director on Firebuds) as supervising director, and Craig Simpson (also from Firebuds) as producer. This series is expected to come in 2026, and is once again produced by Disney Television Animation."
