Old International Fox Kids/Jetix Channels Memorial Thread

As we know, most of you what you saw on International Fox Kids/Jetix was Fox Family shows. What I found very peculiar in the case of Fox Kids UK is how immediate the removal of shows were. Sure they brought back Ace Ventura and What's with Andy later on. But I feel like with this weird removal of shows to focus on action, there was an audience gap. This audience gap of not airing comedies in my opinion is the reason the ratings dropped hard for Fox Kids and later Jetix.
Rebranding to Jetix in Italy never meant they had to become an action channel

As a matter of fact, Two Fairly Oddparents and even new comedy premieres continued to air alongside action cartoons: why FK UK decided not to intervene on this odd choice?

I think they were trying to be "unique" in the sense they're only for action. Which makes no sense considering comedy shows have always been an important fixture until randomly in 2003. We could of kept these shows during low maintenance hours even, an Eek the Cat slot at 11AM or a Walter Melon slot at 10PM. Why they didn't even continue airing comedy shows beyond confuses me

I think the focus on action wasn't just to be unique, it was also to stand out from Cartoon Network, which was ALSO a boy-skewing kids network (as opposed to girly Disney and gender-neutral Nickelodeon) that featured a mixture of action and comedy. Reminder, these channels don't exist in a vacuum.

Most likely, Fox Kids wasn't JUST action/comedy shows in the UK. There was some pre-school shows, shows that skewed to girls and a ton of mystery shows that also disappeared following 2003.

Well, that’s just closer to Nickelodeon, then.
Yeah but not quite, Nick was more teen-centric especially with the turn of the 2000s.

Jetix Russia continuity from it's last month in 2010, like some feeds during the change Disney Channel/XD, they aired alot of Marvel shows.

Fox Kids NL aired Spider-Woman (1979) and all of the 90s Marvel cartoons, all in English with subtitles.

Jetix NL aired three episodes of Spider-Man (90s series) in Dutch somewhere in the 2000s. That's it. Jetix NL was mostly known for its European, Japanese and Disney cartoons, not Marvel.

It turns out that on Disney Channel they fully localized the film "Like Father, Like Santa". Earlier, many films were shown that were on Fox Kids. Some kind of old-school block

But they made a mistake. In English the name "Philip" is written with one "p", while in Russian with two (Филипп). This is not the first time I notice translators writing it with one

Most of the Marvel stuff aired alot on Fox Kids UK and got DVDs via Jetix :)

Definitely a matter of new prints and the fact that DC Russia was entirely local, meaning they could simply localise text.

It was also undubbed too, which stayed that way when the network became Disney XD and the show was still airing on K2.

In my opinion Jetix UK could of taken a few notes from other feeds in terms of variety... I still think the days of Fox Kids especially in 2002 is a good example of how I would of handled Jetix UK.

I've mentioned this before in International Disney Networks Thread Part 13 but i'm gonna mention it here because it's quite interesting. When Switchover Media was formed in 2009 and gained control of K2, Disney pretty much gave them unlimited access to their library (including BVS Entertainment/SIP Animation). Among many things, this allowed them to air Fox Kids/Jetix shows throughout the day, Disney XD wasn't gonna air them why not. This deal is most likely long gone by now but I think it's still interesting because a hypothetical spun-off Jetix Europe could of been like this.

Depends on their will. In English you don't write Philipp, so the Russian translaters adapted it to the English coda.

An agreement was made when Switchover Media was spun-off, they only had part access to the Jetix library (and obviously full access when they were running Jetix during the channel's final months), Disney XD had an overhang of Jetix shows during DXD's early days, so Disney weren't going to licence those out.

Interesting... This explains why alot of K2/Frisbee's lineup was those shows. Some of the shows that Jetix aired that still on Disney XD (Mr Bean, Fairly Oddparents) were shown on K2, which didn't matter in the long term. Then there's shows that were moved to Toon Disney such as the The Triplets and Yin Yang Yo (which later found it's way onto the network in 2014.)

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
