The finale of The Amazing Digital Circus, titled ”Remember”, was released in movie theatres on June 4, 2026 and was released on YouTube and Netflix on June 19, 2026. The theatrical release of the finale was the fifth highest-grossing movie when it was released and made 36.3 million dollars in its first weekend. There was a lot of anticipation for this finale before it was released on YouTube and Netflix.

Episode 9 follows up on the fallout from episode 8, where Kinger accidentally deleted Caine, the AI that controlled the Amazing Digital Circus world, leaving this world in ruin. Kinger, in his more lucid state, reveals that all the players in the Amazing Digital Circus are digital avatars based on brain scans from people from the real world. The players are not humans trapped in a digital world after all; they cannot leave the Amazing Digital Circus because there is nowhere for them to go. This news devastates most of the players, but Jax seems to take it the worst, with him lashing out at Kinger.

Kinger tells Pomni that players can create things in the digital world, and Pomni is able to convince the other players to help her and Kinger repair the Amazing Digital Circus, except for Jax, who goes off on his own. Jax abstracts off-screen, losing all hope and turning into a giant, seemingly mindless beast who will attack the other players. Pomni hugs the abstracted Jax and is able to enter his mind. Pomni is confronted by different versions of Jax: a psychopathic version of Jax that attacks Pomni, a Jax wearing a maid outfit and acting like a troll and a Jax that is a Bugs Bunny parody.

Pomni discovers Jax’s memories of his time in the Amazing Digital Circus, with him adjusting to the Amazing Digital Circus and becoming friends with his fellow players Ribbit and Kaufmo. Jax, in a vulnerable moment while hanging out in Ribbit’s room, reveals to Ribbit that his parents divorced when Jax entered High School, and his mother became emotionally abusive towards him after the divorce. Jax tells Ribbit that he told his mother a personal secret and his mother mocked and belittled him for it. Jax’s mother then hugs him, and Jax becomes upset and pushes her away. Jax’s mother didn’t get up, and Jax assumed he accidentally killed her and ran away, becoming homeless in the process. When Kaufmo knocks on Ribbit’s door, Jax freaks out and demands that Ribbit never tell anyone this secret and states he will never speak to Ribbit again if she tells anyone.

After this incident, Jax became cold and distant towards Ribbit, refusing to hang out or talk to her until they have a big fight and never speak again. This results in Ribbit abstracting, something Jax felt guilty for. Jax’s friendship with Kaufmo also broke down, and that resulted in Kaufmo abstracting as well. Jax pretended not to care, but cried in private over the loss of Kaufmo. Pomni finds the real Jax, who berates himself and states he has destroyed himself. Pomni hugs and offers him forgiveness, a final gift before Jax’s mind is gone forever. The other players manage to free Pomni from the Abstracted Jax, before she abstracts herself.

Meanwhile, Caine has returned, seemingly survived being deleted and ends up in the Void. Caine frees the Blue AI and accesses the internet, and looks up the profiles of the real-world people the players are based on. Caine goes back to the circus, fixes the effects of Pomni touching the Abstracted Jax and offers to give the players control of the Amazing Digital Circus. The players are wary of Caine given his past behavior but seem to suggest they might trust him again over time. Caine shows the players what their real-life counterparts are doing, and they seem to be thriving, allowing the players to have some closure and accept their lives in the Amazing Digital Circus. There is a montage in the credits that shows that the Amazing Digital Circus players are far happier than in the past, and Caine is allowed into the friend group of players.

I don’t think this finale is perfect; most of the screen time in the Finale is dedicated to Jax and his backstory. This leaves other characters like Ragatha, Kinger, Zooble and Gangle with not much time in this episode. There is not much time dedicated to the aftermath of the reveal that the players are digital copies of real people, rather than being real people themselves. However, I do think Gooseworx, the creator of the show, meant for Jax and Pomni to be the main characters, with the other players being side characters. Some people may be unhappy that Jax’s Abstraction happened off-screen and there is no explanation for Caine’s return.

However, I think Gooseworx told the story she wanted to tell with this finale. I think the character study with Jax was interesting. I also think the animation in this episode was great, with a lot of interesting perspective shots in the episode. I think the vocal performances of the voice cast, especially Lizzie Freeman as Pomni and Michael Kovach as Jax, really hit the emotional highs needed for this finale. The Finale may not be perfect, but the popularity of this episode on YouTube and being a moderate success at the movie theatres shows that indie animation’s time has arrived. This series showed that indie animators can create compelling shows while it often seems like the big studios just recycle the same old IP, over and over again.

Remember, the series finale of the Amazing Digital Circus is currently streaming on YouTube and Netflix.
