With how many times Mickey Mouse has made holiday specials over the years, it was only a matter of time before we’d get something that homages the classic 1990s movie Home Alone. Now we finally get that with the aptly titled Mickey’s Home Alone, which will come out later this year on Disney Junior, Disney Channel, and Disney Plus. Here’s everything that you need to know about it.
“Titled Mickey’s Home Alone, the full-length special will see Mickey looking forward to spending Christmas at home. His plans take a turn when Minnie surprises him and the gang with tickets to spend Christmas at a world-famous Ice Palace. In the morning rush to make it out the door, Mickey and Pluto are left behind and home alone. They find themselves protecting their home from two feisty villains, a raccoon and a weasel who are after their Christmas dinner, while Minnie and the gang desperately try to make their way back home.”
The special sees the return of Bret Iwan as Mickey Mouse, Kaitlyn Robrock as Minnie Mouse, Bill Farmer as Goofy and Pluto, Tony Anselmo as Donald Duck, and Trees MacNeille as Daisy Duck. The special is produced (and presumably co-written) by Tom Rogers and Rachel Ruderman, who have worked together on Sofia The First, Elena Of Avalor, The Chicken Squad, the newer seasons of Minnie’s Bow Toons, and Mickey And The Very Many Christmases. Shane Prigmore, co-creator of Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure and known for working on projects like The Iron Giant, The Powerpuff Girls, Megamind, and House Of Mouse, is director. Disney Television Animation and Wild Canary Animation produce the special. Tony Morales, composer on Elena Of Avalor, Sofia The First: Royal Magic, and Mickey And The Very Many Christmases, is composer here. Keith Harrison Dowkins, songwriter on Superkitties, Mickey And The Very Many Christmases, and Sofia The First: Royal Magic, is songwriter. Kelly Ward returns as voice director. Icon Creative Studio, the regular animation studio for Disney Junior, returns to animate this special.
And that’s all we know. What do you think? Are you excited for this special? Comment below with your thoughts.
