The fear is over and we have been spared losing our favorite shows thanks to a strike....but then again our least favs are still alive now so maybe this wasn't as much a good thing as we thought. Anyway, the deal reached yesterday gives the union members a $41 million pay increase over 3 years, which negotiators say is the best deal in 25 years for them. All that remains is East and West Coast union branches approval. Also interesting is that the new agreement would end the discount the Fox television network currently enjoys in the residuals it pays for reruns, bringing Fox in line with bigger rivals ABC, CBS and NBC within two years. Well at least we know a certain someone is happy with this deal.

That's definitely good news! Particularly for the lower-down production people, who'd been facing unemployment. As the mayor of LA had warned, "If this strike goes through, it could turn Los Angeles into a recession!"

Good thing *he* isn't a screenwriter.

This is certainly good news, but, as Robert says, now we get to endure the crap. Everyone, from TV to movies, frantically made new material before now just so they could have something, ANYTHING new during the strike. In the desperiation, much less attention was given to the quality of the work made than usual.

Oh, and Fox's preperation for the strike? Greenlight more episodes of Family Guy. Grrrr...

We aren't necessarily out of the woods

IIRC, is not the Screen Actors Guild facing a potential walk-out as well? I thought I heard that their contract is up on June 30th, poit.

Yeah, but according to the articles I've read, the fact that the writers managed to come to an agreement with the studios lessens the chances of an actor's strike greatly. It still could happen, but now everyone's kinda doubting it.

Hee hee...boy, was that the biggest nothing in Hollywood history or what?

Maybe now we can finally see The Tick over the summer or something!
