Ever since John Lasseter is out of Disney forever. Jennifer Lee is going to be in charge of Walt Disney Animation Studios.

I don't know how i feel about her. I'm not saying she is bad. She did a great job with Wreck-It Ralph and Frozen. But with Wrinkle in Time, the movie got mixed reviews and be a box office bomb.

Jeniffer Lee has absolutely nothing to do with the live-action films. Plus, didn’t Wrinkle in Time come out before she was pointed head of the animation studio?

I know that she has nothing to do with live action films, only animated ones. Also, Yep. Wrinkle in Time come out in March 9th (Black Panther became the Box Office king at the time), months before Lee was pointed as head of animation studio on June 19, 2018

I don’t understand. Then what are you worried about? Why did you bring up
A Wrinke in Time?

Well Yeah. Without John Lasseter, There might be no other great Disney Animation like Frozen or Zootopia.

He wasn't the only reason why Disney has made great animated movies. There were plenty of other people involved with Frozen, Zootopia and every movie, so I don't think that the quality is suddenly going to go down significantly without John Lasseter. There were other talented people involved with Disney before he showed up and there will be more in the future.

Besides that, the safety and comfort of people working at Disney/Pixar is so much more important than movies. Even if Disney somehow doesn't make another great animated movie without John Lasseter, which is not going to happen, that shouldn't matter more than how actual people feel unsafe in their jobs while having to deal with sexual harassment.

I wouldn't worry. I hope Jennifer Lee does well. I would love to see her try bring back 2d animation (even though it's doubtful) and make new original movies (even though I don't mind they make one more sequel like Zootopia). But first, she needs to treat the Disney employees more safety and respect.

I'm more worried there isn't enough proper competition for these guys, honestly. That's what they need. If only so they don't get complacent, which is what it feels like with some of these movies recently, IMHO.

Since Illumination’s The Grinch is outperforming Ralph 2, they know they gotta step up their game.
Then again...it’s Illumination...

Dudley's right. Don't forget that Comcast now owns both DreamWorks Animation and Illumination.

John Lasseter and Ed Catmull, who we both now know are officially complete pigs, DID kill 2D animation at Walt Disney Animation Studios!

Hand-drawn animators such as Nik Ranieri had grievances about the treatment of 2D animation during production on The Princess and the Frog and how it seemed that Lasseter and Catmull were purposefully setting it up to fail in favor of moving to CG animation only.

One story I heard that Ranieri told was that when they were in the final greenlight meeting for Moana, John Musker and Ron Clements, who had been gunning for it to be made for ages, didn't know for sure if it was going to be done in 2D or in CG and didn't still when they were going to start it. This was JUST around when Tangled was coming out. Lasseter never let either of them speak and when the shareholders or whoever were getting the rundown of Moana, Lasseter just kinda pitched it, said "It's 3D" as an afterthought and didn't even get questioned. They greenlit it and after that, they couldn't take it back. Needless to say, Lasseter made that decision FOR Musker and Clements. He just... did it. A rotten move indeed.

Despite Lasseter and Catmull claiming to love 2D animation and wanting to bring it back to Disney, following the various allegations against Lasseter and Catmull being involved in the wage-fixing schemes amongst animation studios in addition to not actually fighting harder to keep 2D going at WDAS, it's clear now that they have lied and held a low-key hatred for 2D and wanted it gone from Disney, doing their darndest to phase out 2D and using the commercial failure of Winnie the Pooh as an excuse to declare 2D dead and shut down WDAS's hand-drawn animation department for good.

With Lasseter and Catmull now gone from Disney, perhaps WDAS, under the leadership of Jennifer Lee, will actually be much more willing to take a chance on 2D animation again and give it the push that Lasseter and Catmull clearly not only failed to do but also refused to do.

Honestly, Disney did not kill 2D animation at all. Dreamworks was responsible for causing the decline to happen, not Disney.

Well, DreamWorks got the ball rolling at least.

The many dreadful direct-to-video sequels that Eisner forced Disney to churn out between the mid-90s and the mid-2000s also severely crippled 2D animation and its credibility and reputation.

Lasseter and Catmull officially killed 2D animation completely at Walt Disney Animation Studios for sure!

I partly have to agree with disneyphilip. I hope Jennifer Lee brings back hand drawn animation, but this may not be a promise.
Yes but neither Lasseter and Catmull were to blame for Disney's switch to CGI. It happened before they took over the unit.

That’s not true. Lasseter and Catmull stopped that when they promised to make both 2D and CG films, only to break it and let the transition go forward for sure.

I'll probably stay out of this, this time, before a soap opera kind of thread is happening again.

Hi, welcome to Toonzone

There's something about seeing kids cry after they mess up big time that really gets to me. One can definitely feel bad for Layla.
I don't know I gonna post it but i think I may had spread the disney abandoning blue sky studios like they did with fox kids/jetix propaganda onto awinger24 and now hes fears of paramount & warner bros
Europeans right now are experiencing the same Heatwave that africans face on a daily basis lol
