is apparently releasing tomorrow in Target stores. Pretty under the radar, but I'm excited since all that's left after this is the rest of the short cartoons. I'm guessing it'll be a timed exclusive similar to the way one of the Scooby's Laff-a-Lympics dvd's was a timed exclusive for Target.

Thanks for the heads-up info- this Thursday, I'm going to my local Target store to buy SF's 7th season, The World's Greatest Superfriends. Since I've collected the other seasons that Warner Home Video released, that will only leave both the 1980-81 and the 1981-82 shorts to be released on DVD. Keep up the good work, Warner Home Video, because it's almost time to package The Superfriends in a complete series box set. The Superfriends DVD series releases from WHV are almost complete, but all the same, let's stay on top of this.

A complete superfriends box set would be pretty massive actually. 17 or 18 discs (depending on how many discs the WGSF set is) which would make it even bigger than some of the DCAU complete series sets.

Well, if a complete Superfriends DVD box set is going to be massive, then so be it, as long as we have each and every episode of this long-running animated TV series on DVD to show to our kids for years to come. After all, this show is a true cartoon classic, and for those, who love to collect cartoons on DVD, it would be a treasure and a nice addition to the cartoon DVD collection. Speaking of DVD box sets, I've heard Shout Factory will release Fat Albert & the Cosby Kids complete series box set, sometime in July, but all the same, let's stay on top of this, because there's scores more classic TV animation that are awaiting DVD releases and not just from Warner Home Video or Shout Factory.

The only DC animated superhero series Warner has yet to release on DVD is the 1968 Filmation Batman animated series.

Grabbed a copy today. It had a sticker on the front that says, "Target Exclusive" and under that "For a Limited Time". It'll probably hit other major retailers in a few months.

Not quite- there's still Filmation's 1981 animated Shazam series, which ran on NBC.

BTW, I've purchased The World's Greatest Superfriends on DVD, today. Looks like all 8 of the episodes from the 1979-80 season were digitally remastered. Now, that only leaves the 1980-81 and the 1981-82 shorts left to be released on DVD. Let's go, Warner Home Video, release the shorts on DVD, then prepare The Superfriends complete series box set for future release. Once the remaining shorts of The Superfriends are released on DVD, Warner Home Video can shift its focus to other animated classics within its large library for DVD release, such as Filmation's The New Adventures of Gilligan, Tarzan Lord of the Jungle, My Favorite Martians and the animated Shazam series, various programs from Ruby-Spears and Rankin-Bass, scores of Hanna-Barbera programs and all programs from Warner Bros. Animation- all the same, let's stay on top of this.

DarkKnight, thanks for the heads-up. For sure, I'm buying the 1980 Superfriends shorts. That would now only leave the 1981 shorts left to be released on DVD- perhaps they'll be released on DVD, this fall, to finally complete The Superfriends series DVD releases. Afterwards, it'll be time for Warner Home Video to consider releasing the entire series box set, which will be a lifetime treasure. Imagine what it would be like to own The Superfriends complete series box set. Speaking of which, Shout Factory is releasing the complete series box set of Fat Albert & the Cosby Kids. Talk about a great time to be a cartoon collector. Please keep us posted about the eventual release of The Superfriends 1981 shorts on DVD.

I couldn't find anything about World's Greatest Superfriends on Target's website, and I even called, and they said there was nothing on it. I had forgotten where I first saw this news, and then figured it might have been inaccurate information on Wikipedia,

It was never listed on Target's website other in than in last week's Weekly Ad. It's not a product you can search for / buy online from them. It definitely came out last week though, because I had it for over a week now and watched all of the episodes on it.

Why wouldn't a rep over the phone even be able to find it?

Well obviously no one knows the answer to that, but it was even mentioned in the TVshowsondvd.com article I linked yesterday. I'll quote it for you:
While we're on the subject of this show, we'll acknowledge something that we've gotten a ton emails about from many of you out there. Your notes have all been saying "Hey, 'The World's Greatest Super Friends - Season 4: And Justice For All' on DVD is already available!" Yes, we know, but it's exclusively out at just one brick-and-mortar chain for now, and we don't cover those kinds of releases. The studios don't provide us with info about titles for these exclusives, the retailers who do it don't seem to want the other retailers to particularly know about it, and both we and most of our readers don't think these kinds of "promotions" are good for consumers. So we only cover a title once it's been scheduled for a general "wide" retail release. With the fifth season now announced, hopefully we'll get word soon that this fourth-season item is also going to be on the way to any store which wants to sell it. Please stay tuned until if and when we get that announcement!

... and "The Adventures of Superboy" .... and the rest of "The New Adventures of Superman" ,,, both also from Filmation.

Having been at my Target today, I can also confirm that the DVD is available at the store (and it's relatively cheap at just $10).

OK, went and got mine today.

Does it have the 1979 Hanna-Barbera "Swirling Star" at the end? I ask because the last time I remember seeing this show on Cartoon Network, that logo was bypassed, going straight to the Warner Bros. Television Distribution logo (either the 1974 or 1984 version).

I bought it, myself, Ben- it does. Nonetheless, come July, when The Superfriends 1980 shorts are released on DVD, we'll just be one release away from completing the entire series on DVD. Still, we can think about what The Superfriends complete series box set will be like, once that becomes available. I imagine it'll run about close to $200, more or less, but it would be worth it to buy it. In the meantime, let's continue collecting whatever comes our way.

I've checked Target stores in Toronto, as they recently expanded to Canada,
but no luck finding this set. I'll either wait for the wider release, or pay the extortion level
prices in the Amazon marketplace. One seller wanted $68 with shipping for a copy!

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
