What have you seen that sums its insanity up best? For me, I remember reading Jumptheshark.com, which was what it sounds like -- an entire site devoted to debating which shows had jumped the shark and when. It was later bought out by TV Guide and dismantled.

But before then, anyone could leave an argument on a show's page and it would remain there forever. This is what the Futurama page said:

This show has already jumped. It went downhill fast if you ask me. It's jumped and never coming back.

This show has NEVER jumped! And it never will! It's been great and I've loved every minute! It'll never jump!

The third post said this:
For crying out loud, you guys, only one episode has aired.

That sums up the Internet to me.

Anonymous freedom to a degree.

The Internet can best be summed up to me as a place of many things - the freedom to truly do whatever you want, and doing it all in the blink of an eye. Want to shop for the best laptop ever? Play flash stuff on Addicting Games? Talk to old pals on Facebook? There's no boundaries on what you can and can't do.

That, or porn and Chuck Norris.

Porn of Chuck Norris?

Lolcats and fanfiction come to mind for me. I once read a in a comic that the life goal for everyone on the internet should be to achieve 10,000 views on a video you make without a cat in it.

Teh internets is a silly place - not unlike the Camelot of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, IMO. It is the most powerful toy and tool humans have ever created. I don't think I can sum it up. Even with a clever macro.

For a long time it was "Leave Britney alone."
I started to see references to that everywhere and I realized if I was actively on the internet it's the kind of thing I would know all about.
There are some things I'd rather be blissfully unaware of.
It literally kept me off the internet for years.

Now that I'm back, the internet can be summed up by search results that may give you half a million hits that will all lead back to the same Wikipedia entry, or be a copy of the Wikipedia entry, or be a restatement of that same Wikipedia entry.

Oh god, bonsai kittens.

You need to elaborate on your posts! I can't tell what you're getting at with that last one, or even if that's that a cow or a horse.

I think it's a Mongolian pony, which is a special breed.
If the internet was any fun I'd get a prize if I'm right.

And I know this will upset people with how true it is...

Rule 34, FanFiction, and a majority of DeviantART's users wrecking good animation, especially Western, and overidolizing Anime in general too much for my taste.

That sums up the Internet to me... Unless I'm looking for people to talk politics with.

I don't know if you're right, in fact most places say it's a yak, but you do get a prize!

The Internet is a basically smart people, vs. dumb people, vs people who think they're smart.

And because the web has become a landfill of everyone's random thoughts, there is constant struggle for power and dominance in these groups

Feels good to post something again, it's been a while.

Socialization without having to actually socialize...

Christian Weston Chandler.

Every single horror the internet has ever created, all concentrated into one being. He's basically one whole level above trainwreck.

I think the sociopaths who devote so much time to tormenting and "trolling" a person with obvious problems like Chris, or others like him, say a lot more about the internet than anything he does. Depressing things. There are a lot of immature people out there who just like to find forums to wallow together in their own narcissism by attacking others, the most depressing thing is that they think targeting or making fun of misfits and the weak puts them above their targets, when actually it just makes them much sadder and more pathetic.
